BETH ORTON (UK)

ANNOUNCES EAST COAST HEADLINE TOUR – NOVEMBER 2023

Frontier Touring is delighted to announce Brit Award winner and Mercury Prize nominee Beth Orton will return to Australia in November 2023, with three East Coast headline shows in BrisbaneMelbourne and Sydney.

Performing on stage with her full band, these will be Orton’s first live concerts down under in six years, with today’s tour news following the September 2022 release of Orton’s lauded latest album, Weather Alive – out now via Partisan/Liberator.

Watch: Beth Orton – Weather Alive

One of the most critically acclaimed records released last year, Orton self-produced the entirety of Weather Alive from her home studio in London, laying the foundations of the songs on an upright piano installed in a shed in her garden. The New York Times hailed Orton’s “modal vocal phrases and marvelling” stories – read their extensive profile of the album here – while Pitchfork named lead single ‘Weather Alive’ a Best New Track, calling it “a slow-burning tour de force”. Across eight songs Weather Alive hosts an incredible group of collaborators, including jazz poet Alabaster dePlume, The Smile drummer Tom Skinner, multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily, and Mercury Prize nominated bassist Tom Herbert of The Invisible.

‘This is as moving and real as Orton has ever been … Nestles somewhere between Talk Talk’s final years and Bill Fay’s late beauties, between Alice Coltrane’s intimate hymns and Fiona Apple’s softest moments… the musical richness only mirrors Orton’s astounding writing’ – ★★★★ MOJO

‘Orton’s best record in more than 20 years’ – ★★★★ Classic Pop

Well known for her mesmerising onstage presence and powerfully emotive vocals, in 2023 Orton performed at Glastonbury (a set described by The Guardian as “excellent”) and Primavera, recently wrapping a EU/UK tour including dates with The War On Drugs.

Orton’s hits, such as She Cries Your Name, Central Reservation abide in her set list… Weather Alive is an enormously exciting record’ – ★★★★ The Guardian

Orton and her five-piece band pulled the audience into their orbit with an absorbing performance that often made time seem to stand still’ – exclaim.ca

Across almost 30 years now Orton’s sound has shapeshifted from her output with The Chemical Brothers, Andrew Weatherall, Red Snapper and William Orbit, to a pioneer of an electronic, woozy brand of trip-hop. Over the course of her seven albums, Orton resolutely refutes categorisation, weaving from a hushed, folk-informed storytelling to dark, brooding esoteric experimentalism. Through all these different sonic explorations, Beth Orton remains a fantastically evocative songwriter, finding artist fans and collaborators in the most unlikely of places. Out of the studio, she’s shared the stage and mic with the likes of Patti Smith, Nick Cave, Sinead O’Connor, Flaming Lips and Beck.

For all the acclaim that fall Beth Orton’s way she continues to take the path less travelled in forging her next move. Don’t miss these shows; tickets on sale next week!

GEORGIA FLOOD SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘BLUE HONEY’

GEORGIA FLOOD SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘BLUE HONEY’

GEORGIA FLOOD

SHARES NEW SINGLE

BLUE HONEY

Floating with ethereal sensuality and lush electronic pop, the brand new single Blue Honey out now from Australian singer-songwriter and actress Georgia Flood silkily captures the gamut of anxiety with glassy and polished affability.

Following on from Georgia Flood’s country-dipped debut single Cowboy earlier this year, Blue Honey seamlessly embodies its cool and oozing namesake while also mingling Flood’s formative musical loves and eclectic inspirations, as she explains, There isn’t a clear influence for Blue Honey, even when I sent a reference playlist to my producer Matt Curtin, it was a very diverse list, artists including, Alannah Myles, Fred Again, Róisín Murphy, and Lucinda Williams. This was the challenge of Blue Honey, I couldn’t really find anything that would describe what I wanted to create. My loves are electronic music, pop and country, and with this track we tried to make a blend.”

Teaming up with producer Matt Curtin, who also took on mixing and mastering duties for Blue Honey, Flood welds her crystalline vocals across palpitating, humid beats, ambient instrumentation and hauntingly sensual melodics. But beneath the after-dark pop sensibilities, Blue Honey also powerfully displays the realities of anxiety beyond the stereotypical traits, with Georgia Flood’s own creative identity firmly at the wheel. “Blue Honey is about the experience of anxiety,” reveals Georgia Flood of her latest sonic outing. “As an artist, I would have to say I have a caring, messy, 17-tabs-open-at-once-mindset, and loud…but also sometimes really quiet”. And it’s these multi-faceted attributes that effortlessly bolster Blue Honey alongside its sleek production and Georgia Flood’s sharp lyricism, declaring: “She keeps the lights on at night / So they won’t try / Take a look / Or go inside / Her colourful mind.”

Starting her musical journey at a young age, taking up the piano, violin and singing as a child, Georgia Flood was raised by her parents on a musical diet of classical music, K.D. Lang, Van Morrison and Shania Twain. Carrying her early passion into her teens, Georgia Flood soon delved into electronic music, before picking up the guitar at the age of 14 and discovering the music software Reason via her high school music teacher; and the rest, as they say, was history. Also, an established and accomplished actress, making her onstage debut with the Melbourne Theatre Company before going on to appear on House Husbands, Wentworth and American Princess, Georgia Flood will next be seen on screens worldwide in the Disney+ TV series Nautilus, due out in December this year.

Previously garnering praise for her polished and modern take on the country pop realms, Georgia Flood’s musical journey continues to unfold in compelling and stylistically expanded fashion, and Blue Honey is another beautiful piece of the Georgia Flood creative puzzle unfurling in 2023. And, as Georgia Flood concludes, her relatable-yet-glossy creations bring tangible art to life; a fact inspired by the late great Carrie Fisher herself: There’s this amazing line from a film written by Carrie Fisher called, Post Cards from the Edge, where Meryl Streep says to Gene Hackman “I don’t want life to imitate art, I want life to be art.”. I’ve always loved that quote. That pretty much sums up what I’m about.”

Blue Honey is out NOW!

PAUL McCARTNEY BRINGS HIS PHENOMENAL GOT BACK TOUR TO AUSTRALIA THIS OCTOBER/NOVEMBER!

PAUL McCARTNEY BRINGS HIS PHENOMENAL GOT BACK TOUR TO AUSTRALIA THIS OCTOBER/NOVEMBER!

PAUL McCARTNEY

BRINGS HIS PHENOMENAL

GOT BACK

 TOUR TO AUSTRALIA THIS OCTOBER/NOVEMBER!

First Australian dates since his 2017 award-winning tour | Including first visits to Newcastle and Gold Coast | Tickets on sale Friday 11 August

Paul McCartney will bring his acclaimed Got Back Tour to Australia this October/November!

Got Back starts with an intimate arena show in Adelaide, the city where The Beatles made history in 1964 on their first visit to Australia. An estimated 350,000 people lined the streets between the airport and Town Hall to catch a glimpse of the band. Paul will then travel to MelbourneNewcastleSydneyBrisbane, and the Gold Coast performing in stadiums – with the shows in Newcastle and the Gold Coast being his first concerts there. These dates will see McCartney return for his first live performances in Australia in six years. McCartney was last in Australia in December 2017 (which saw him win a Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert in 2018 beating the likes of Ed Sheeran), wowing audiences nationwide with a near three-hour show, the Sydney Morning Herald reporting, “If the greatest songs elicit an emotional response too powerful to properly explain, it’s safe to say no review of Paul McCartney’s tour will quite do it justice.”

Tickets go on sale Friday 11 August via frontiertouring.com/paulmccartney. The Frontier Members presale starts Wednesday 9 August (times staggered – see website for details).

In 2017, speaking backstage at Paul’s sell-out show in Sydney, Kylie Minogue said: “Having Paul, Sir Paul, in Australia is incredible. All of Australia wants to see him; half of them can’t get a ticket! The chance for Australians to see Paul on stage singing songs that they know and love and mean so much to them is a beautiful thing and I hope he feels all the love.”

Irrefutably one of the most successful singer-songwriters and performers of all time, McCartney is behind the most beloved catalogue in music. With songs like ‘Hey Jude’, ‘Live and Let Die’, ‘Band on the Run’,  ‘Let It Be’ and so many more, the Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show: hours of the greatest moments from the last 60 years of music – dozens of songs from Paul’s solo, Wings and of course Beatles catalogues that have formed the soundtracks of our lives.

McCartney launched the Got Back tour in February 2022, completing 16 huge shows across the US before performing what the British Times newspaper described as the “best gig ever” with his history-making set at Glastonbury in June 2022. Fans and critics who attended the Got Back dates were unanimous in their praise:

‘The planet’s greatest living songwriter … When he’s leading a stadium packed with 70,000 fans singing along, it’s hard not to be stunned by the recognition of everything McCartney achieved’ – ★★★★★ The Independent

‘McCartney and his tightly drilled combo just kept knocking them out for three solid gold hours, one absolutely storming classic after another, sending waves of excitement up the packed hillside, and turning the biggest crowd of the 2022 Glastonbury festival into the world’s biggest choir. I mean, really, you haven’t heard a singalong until you’ve heard 200,000 voices doing the na na nas on ‘Hey Jude’’ – ★★★★ Daily Telegraph

‘As much as McCartney made history with the Beatles, he’s making history again… Being on stage in front of 60,000 people being able to bellow songs that you wrote 60 years prior is not something that God wrote into the human contract, but McCartney is out to prove nature and the Almighty wrong’ – Variety
‘A masterclass from the greatest living cultural figure – a true privilege to behold’ ★★★★★ The i Newspaper

Paul and his band have performed in an unparalleled range of venues and locations worldwide. From outside the Colosseum in Rome, Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House and a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people. To the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert in 1966, a 2016 week in the California desert that included two headline sets at the historic Desert Trip festival, a jam-packed club gig for a few hundred lucky fans at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace, two Glastonbury Festival headline slots and even one performance broadcast live into Space!

Featuring Paul’s longtime band – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – and constantly upgraded state of the art audio and video technology that ensures an unforgettable experience from every seat in the house, a Paul McCartney concert is never anything short of life-changing.

Make no mistake – this is a once in a lifetime event. Paul McCartney’s Got Back Australian Tour is not to be missed! Act quickly to secure your tickets.

ALUNA UNVEILS OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘RUNNING BLIND’ WITH TCHAMI & KAREEN LOMAX

ALUNA UNVEILS OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘RUNNING BLIND’ WITH TCHAMI & KAREEN LOMAX

ALUNA UNVEILS

OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR

RUNNING BLIND’

WITH TCHAMI & KAREEN LOMAX

FROM LATEST STUDIO ALBUM ‘MYCELiUM

Following the release of her critically acclaimed sophomore album, MYCELiUM earlier this month via Mad Decent, Aluna is back today with the official music video for the album’s focus track, ‘Running Blind’, a collaboration with French producer and DJ Tchami, with vocals from Aluna and Atlanta-born artist, songwriter, and producer Kareen LomaxThe music video was directed by Priya Minhas.

Watch the music video for ‘Running Blind

Speaking about the new video, Aluna reveals, “Kareen and I met on the night that Beyoncé made history as the first Black woman to win the ’Dance Electronic Album of the Year’ category at the Grammys. That night we felt so free, riding around town celebrating, the little girls inside us taking over the vibe. Priya Minhas captures that feeling with the story of Jordyn, Trumuir, Haven and D’Maurier meeting on a hot summer’s day in the city, their whole life ahead of them.”

Talking about the track, Aluna explains, “This is an unusual track on the album because Tchami actually sent me this beat and I wrote to it remotely. The irresistible sound just immediately made me think of the insatiable pull that freedom has on me. In my experience, freedom is not something you win on your own, just like I wasn’t able to single handedly change the industry for Black women. When Kareen effortlessly added her poetry, the song took on a whole new level and I finally felt like it was doing the job it was meant.”

While Aluna has always defied dance music orthodoxy by virtue of her own predilection for the genre, she has also made inroads for other creatives to follow her unapologetic path. It’s why she’s quietly become a boundary-breaking force, merging electronic, indie, alternative, and pop and integrating voices rarely represented in this space. Change happens by reshaping and recalibrating the ruins of yesterday into a stronger tomorrow, but rather than wait around for the system to wake up, Aluna has actively architected structures to supportive a brighter, bolder, and, always, more inclusive future in dance.

On her latest album, Aluna shares: “The Mycelium is the cell network seeped into the fabric of nature. I’m not talking about the bloom or the fruits. You need to lay the groundwork to see the fruit one day. I got burnt out from trying to work with powerful people who have lots of money and no actual genuine care for what I’m trying to do. I realized there was no foundation where I was standing, and we have to build our own foundation. It’s not going to be all bells and whistles; it’s going to be substance. So, I broke some barriers and started mentoring creative fans. I built a community of Black Ravers on Geneva and by joining groups on Instagram and social media. Now, the album is my community I’ve created.”

Listen to Aluna’s new album, MYCELiUM HERE.

The multi-award-winning British (of Jamaican and Indian heritage) artist naturally began to build this ecosystem that would later become MYCELiUM, one move at a time, throughout 2022 in London, Paris, and Los Angeles. This time around, she emphasized the use of analog gear, infusing her music with organic and raw energy, and collaborating with likeminded visionaries worldwide, attracting a cohort of Black and LGBTQ+ collaborators and allies. These ranged from KOOLDRINK in South Africa, Roofeeo in Panama, Pabllo Vittar in Brazil, and Picard Brothers in France to TSHAChris Lake, and MNEK in London and many more. The result, MYCELiUM, a timeless celebration of 90’s era dance music and the communities and cultures that helped impact its movement and message to this day.

Speaking about the importance of the collaborators on this project, Aluna adds “I was always used to being the only Black person in the room, not only on stage, but also in all of the meetings and studio sessions. To be able to work with producers who are not only Black but LGBTQ+ was the most life-affirming stage of my career. Writing remotely also opened up the door for me to be able to collaborate with people in other countries too.”

Last month, Aluna released ‘Oh The Glamour,’ a delightfully deep groove assault to the senses, and collaboration with Brazilian GRAMMY® nominated artist Pabllo Vittar, GRAMMY® and BRIT nominated MNEK, and UK producer Eden PrinceListen to ‘Oh The Glamour’ with Pabllo Vittar, MNEK & Eden Prince HERE

“The 14-track house-focused project features creative, interconnected work…altogether forming a foundation of diversity that’s the core of Aluna’s mission.” – Billboard

“With an increased focus on collaboration, inclusion, and ’90s-era electronica, the record serves as a celebration of community as much as it is a celebration of Aluna herself.” – Consequence

“MYCELiUM is both about individuality and community, with guests like MNEK, Pabllo Vittar, Kareen Lomax, Jayda G and more helping to amplify Aluna’s mission statement. The change is near tangible and wrapped up in euphoric, ’90s-inspired electronica.” – EDITION

“MYCELiUM is a loud-and-proud reminder of her proclivity to take risks, break down barriers and forge her own path to create music for the soul.” – EDM.com

“A self-empowering bioluminescent web of floor-shaking bangers, MYCELiUM carves out a safe aura for people of color in a mainly white, male, Eurocentric corner of music.” – Flood Magazine

“On her verdant sophomore album MYCELiUM, dance phenomenon Aluna immerses you in the ecosystem of ecstatic inclusivity that she’s spent years cultivating.” – Grimy Goods

“With an emphasis on queer and/or Black artists from many different countries, she’s built a powerful statement about claiming your power while still leaving space for others.” – NPR

TROPIC GOLD SIGN TO UNFD RELEASE A HUGE NEW SINGLE ADRENALINE

TROPIC GOLD SIGN TO UNFD RELEASE A HUGE NEW SINGLE ADRENALINE

TROPIC GOLD
SIGN TO UNFD

RELEASE A HUGE NEW SINGLE
ADRENALINE

Suffolk-via-Essex quartet, Tropic Gold have announced their signing to UNFD with a huge new single, Adrenaline. The track was exclusively premiered on Monday night’s BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, with sit-in host and long-term supporter, Alyx Holcombe, enthusing, “that was so incredible!”

Adrenaline unravels the uncontrollable feeling of not being able to get through a day without an unreasonably positive event occurring,” share the band. “It vocalises how having a day without an extreme positive lift can result in intense lows, similar to withdrawal symptoms. The lyrics are written from a “talking to myself” perspective, with vocals representing an inner monologue highlighted throughout the song.”

“The excitement of signing with UNFD is undeniably life changing,” they continue. “We are beyond grateful for the shared enthusiasm UNFD have in the future of Tropic Gold, and are not holding back on making the most of what this partnership can create. The shared ambition for bringing the vision of Tropic Gold to life has allowed us to expand our team for the first time, and UNFD have made us feel lovingly welcomed and part of a family immediately. We can’t wait to invite the world to join the experience.”

Watch the video for Adrenaline here:

Tropic Gold offer up a sleekly modern meld of alternative, metal, pop, and electronica, cajoling their passions for a dynamic culture pool of music and production styles into a single sonic petri dish.

Though originally formed in 2019, the quartet have spent years in the lab, developing their sound and strong aesthetics behind the closed doors of a bespoke, self-built multimedia studio.

The Tropic Gold method is truly hands on, with guitarist Joshua Lee handling all production and recording duties, as well as diving into the weeds on their visual curation, manning the camera and edit suite as often as the production chair.

Today, with their vision firmly in grasp, the band are ready to move beyond the prologue, and have struck up a partnership with UNFD to bring their soaring, infectious soundscapes to a global audience.

Pairing swathes of moody atmospherics with soaring, ear worm choruses, the band’s songs feel like they would be equally A Vibe™ pulsing across sticky, cramped dance floors as soaring atop airy arenas.

Coming on like a new romantic Bring Me The Horizon or a post breakup Don Broco who just discovered their parents copy of The Cure’s Disintegration or a 45rpm copy of Sing The Sorrow playing at 33rpm…: Tropic Gold are as gloomy as they are catchy.

Sharing a sonic space with the likes of the aforementioned BMTH and Broco, PVRIS, (latter day) Architects, Caskets, Spiritbox’s plaintive moments and even Enter Shikari (albeit on Valium), Tropic Gold are just getting started in figuring out how to weaponise their cocktail of slap and swag.

TROPIC GOLD IS:
Jacob Parris – Vocals | Joshua Lee – Guitars, Programming
Bradley Lawrence – Bass | George Southernwood – Drums

SOCCER MOMMY COVERS ‘SOAK UP THE SUN’ BY SHERYL CROW

SOCCER MOMMY COVERS ‘SOAK UP THE SUN’ BY SHERYL CROW

SOCCER MOMMY
COVERS

 SOAK UP THE SUN‘
BY SHERYL CROW

Following her visit to Australia in February, Soccer Mommy continues to tour in support of 2022’s critically acclaimed album Sometimes, Forever, opening for Maggie Rogers on her current run. Soccer Mommy shares her latest single, a cover of Sheryl Crow’s ‘Soak Up The Sun’, out now via Loma Vista Recordings / Virgin Music Australia.

Crow is a formative artist for Soccer Mommy’s Sophie Allison, who was interviewed by The New York Times last year about Crow’s influence. “She has so many songs that are these massive hits that, at least for someone my age, you can’t have grown up and not heard those songs,” she told NYT. “She has a knack for saying something hard, but making it feel like she’s ready to acknowledge it and be cool with this hard acceptance.” Listen to her cover of the 2002 classic now and watch its accompanying karaoke video HERE.

For a taste of Soccer Mommy’s live show, watch the band’s career-spanning NPR Tiny Desk performance from earlier this year here, or watch Soccer Mommy perform ‘Shotgun’ and ‘Feel It All The Time’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live! here

Sometimes, Forever was named one of the best albums of 2023 by the likes of The New York Times, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, NPR, Vulture, Associated Press, Billboard, Stereogum, The A.V. Club, FLOOD, Paste, Uproxx, and more, with ‘Shotgun’ named one of the top songs of 2023 by The Los Angeles Times, Buzzfeed, NPR, Gorilla vs. Bear, Pitchfork, Consequence, Vulture, NYLON, Billboard and more.

In Australia, it took out coveted positions such as Double J Feature Album, FBi Radio Album of the Week, Triple R Soundscape and added to rotation by 2SER amongst other high praise from NME, Pilerats, Guitar World, Happy and more. Sometimes, Forever debuted on the Billboard charts, taking the #1 slot for Heatseakers, Top New Artist and Alternative New Artist, debuting in the Top 200, and many more. She performed on both The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel Live! In 2022, completed a largely sold-out international headline tour, and performed an intimate show at the GRAMMY Museum alongside a Q&A hosted by The Los Angeles Times’ Mikael Wood.

Following the album release, Soccer Mommy has since hosted Roblox’s most successful Listening Party to date with 10.8 million unique visitors, and she has also shared incredible alt-versions of “Shotgun” by Magdalena Bay, a slowed and reverbed edit, as well as a Simlish version, available now within The Sims 4 High School Years expansion pack. Soccer Mommy also collaborated with Brain Dead on a limited edition t-shirt, which can be purchased here.

Sometimes, Forever is Soccer Mommy’s boldest and most aesthetically adventurous work yet, and it cements Sophie Allison’s status as one of the most gifted songwriters making rock music right now. The album sees Allison once again tapping into the turn-of-the-millenium sensibilities she’s known for, as she advances her self-made sonic world beyond the present and into the future with experimental-minded production, an expanded moodboard of vintage touchstones, and some of her most sophisticated songwriting to date.

Inspired by the concept that neither sorrow nor happiness is permanent, Sometimes, Forever is a fresh peek into the mind of an artist who synthesises everything — retro sounds, personal tumult, the relatable disorder of modern life — into original music that feels built to last a long time. Maybe even forever.

Sometimes, Forever is out now via Loma Vista

Praise for Soccer Mommy & Sometimes, Forever:

“Sophie Allison finds new sonic frontiers…Throughout the album, Soccer Mommy staves off despair with musical craftsmanship” – The New York Times (Critic’s Pick)

“Throughout Sometimes, Forever, [Allison] and Lopatin expand on the ’90s palette that has characterized previous Soccer Mommy releases. Bolstering the lingering imprints of Liz Phair, Sheryl Crow, and Sleater-Kinney is a healthy dose of Loveless worship: glide guitars and tendrils of haze.” – Pitchfork (8/10)

“[Sometimes, Forever] is Soccer Mommy’s gnarliest and most resplendent, fashioning poppy melodies, disarming lyrics, and twisted sounds into dismayed songs of young adulthood.” – The New Yorker

“The singer/songwriter’s vulnerability resulted in two critically acclaimed releases — 2018’s Clean and 2020’s Color Theory — though Allison’s latest may be her most exciting yet.”
– GRAMMY.com

“Sophie Allison’s emotive rock acquires new dynamism” – Wall Street Journal

“Soccer Mommy deepens her indie-rock brilliance on ‘Sometimes, Forever’…[and] proves herself to be one of the sharpest songwriters around” – Rolling Stone

“Allison has made a bold move that paid off better than we’d ever have expected.”
– Variety

“Sometimes, Forever’s marriage of Allison’s lyrical prowess and OPN’s stark, synth-driven sonics makes it by far the darkest and most compelling offering from Soccer Mommy yet.”
– Billboard

“The combination of these intensely confessional lyrics and the musical exercises in mood and atmosphere lends the album a balance between control and catharsis.”
– NME Australia

“But the truth is, there isn’t a dull moment on this record: Allison’s mix of melodic brilliance and emotional vulnerability keep us hooked from start to finish.” – Double J

“Brimming with the Nashville artist’s characteristically addictive songwriting style, the album elevates Soccer Mommy’s signature style to new heights…” – FBi Radio

“Sometimes, Forever is an experimental and ambitious record, ebbing and flowing from cruisy pop jams to gothic alt-rock sizzlers..” – Guitar World

“Soccer Mommy’s dreamy pop sounds still flutter around Unholy Affliction, it’s surrounded by this rich, sexy darkness” – HAPPY

“Solidifying her as one of the most interesting songwriters in the indie world in 2022, Sometimes, Forever sees Allison building on the Soccer Mommy we’ve come to know and love..her addictive, catchy and instantly recognizable blend of indie pop and rock goodness.” – Pilerats

ROYAL BLOOD SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘PULL ME THROUGH’ | NEW ALBUM BACK TO THE WATER BELOW DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 1

ROYAL BLOOD SHARE NEW SINGLE ‘PULL ME THROUGH’ | NEW ALBUM BACK TO THE WATER BELOW DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 1

ROYAL BLOOD

SHARE NEW SINGLE

PULL ME THROUGH

| NEW ALBUM BACK TO THE WATER BELOW DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 1

Royal Blood have unveiled their new single ‘Pull Me Through’ which received its first play as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record on Radio 1. The new single previews Royal Blood’s eagerly anticipated fourth album ‘Back To The Water Below’ which follows a week earlier than previously stated on September 1st. ‘Pull Me Through’ comes in the wake of breakout single ‘Mountains At Midnight’ which Clara Amfo premiered on her Radio 1 Future Sounds show.

Since then, Royal Blood have hit stadiums across Europe as special guests to Muse and played a triumphant Glastonbury set in the penultimate Pyramid stage slot to headliners Arctic Monkeys, while the pre-order for the stunning zoetrope vinyl edition of the album saw all 4000 copies swiftly snapped up.

‘Pull Me Through’ is indicative of the broader palette of sounds that Royal Blood explore throughout ‘Back To The Water Below’. A step apart from anything they have previously released, the song builds upwards from its initial melancholic piano melody before erupted with a full-blooded denouement that ensures this stylistic shift is still resolutely Royal Blood. Themes of guilt and recrimination lurk ominously in Mike Kerr’s words, notably with the arresting lyric, “On a bed made of ‘What have you done?’”

Mike Kerr says, “‘Pull Me Through’ is ultimately about giving up on persevering alone and finding strength in asking for help. It’s a song that is driven by the lyrics and melody, as opposed to the riffs doing the heavy lifting. Despite being piano led, it feels very much like a missing limb to our artillery and a track we’ve been eager to perform live.”

‘Pull Me Through’ comes with a visually arresting accompanying video with a powerful narrative directed by filmmaker and photographer Polocho via https://www.saygoodnightfilms.com .

WATCH HERE

As with the rest of ‘Back To The Water Below’, ‘Pull Me Through’ was solely written and produced by Royal Blood.

Back To The Water Below’ is available to pre-order / pre-save HERE.

The release of ‘Back To The Water Below’ heralds a bold new chapter for Royal Blood. Their story is of two life-long friends, Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, whose shared passion for rousing, full-throttle hard rock has led them on an extraordinary adventure together – a story of such success that it has yet to be repeated, leading to a succession of achievements that are as rare as they are remarkable. Moving from the pub circuit in their native Brighton to topping the UK album charts, winning the BRIT Award for Best British Group and garnering famous fans from Lars Ulrich and Jimmy Page. They’ve remained on a similar trajectory ever since, with their subsequent albums ‘How Did We Get So Dark?’ and ‘Typhoons’ both racing straight to #1.

Royal Blood’s Northern summer continues with three festival headline sets plus a landmark show at Brighton Beach ahead of an intimate UK headline tour in October. For all touring and ticketing information, please see HERE.

DIVERS CAPTURES THE FREEDOM OF YOUTH WITH DREAMY NEW SINGLE ‘THAT’S TIME FLYING’

DIVERS CAPTURES THE FREEDOM OF YOUTH WITH DREAMY NEW SINGLE ‘THAT’S TIME FLYING’

DIVERS

CAPTURES THE FREEDOM OF YOUTH WITH DREAMY NEW SINGLE

THAT’S TIME FLYING

Second single from forthcoming EP ‘ECONOMY CLASS’

With swirling, hazy guitars & their now signature reverb-laced vocals, DIVERS have unveiled the next single in the build up to their ‘Economy Class’ EP, the dreamy & wistful ‘That’s Time Flying’. Pulling from their own amorous feelings of youth, DIVERS were inspired by the moments of love & joy they had, surrounded by friends. The chorus of ‘That’s Time Flying’ is however carrying a darker underlying message; exploring the relationship between substances and the user, treading through moments of deception to the true emotions hidden beneath, alongside difficult come-downs.

With their forthcoming EP ‘Economy Class’ set now for a Friday, August 18th release, the band still have 3 tracks left to unveil, with previous single ‘Security’ pairing with ‘That’s Time Flying’ as the lead tracks from a diverse and exploratory release. Recorded out of their home studio in Melbourne, DIVERS paired with ARIA award-winning producer Anton Hagop (Powderfinger, Birds of Tokyo, Missy Higgins) to mix the EP, with mastering by George Georgiadis (Tyne-James Organ, Last Dinosaurs). The release will be the band’s first extended body of work released through Australian label Domestic La La (Dear Settle, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, LOSER), after being hand-picked by Violent Soho’s James Tidswell for the roster.

PRE-SAVE EP

“With ‘That’s Time Flying’ we were trying to capture those feelings of our youth, going out to heaps of 21sts with your best mates and the pure love of those moments. The chorus is about the relationship one has with substances and how they deceive you in the moment and you think they’re your friend, but leave you feeling miserable the days following.” DIVERS

Artwork by: Ben Schoonderbeek & Jake Green

Accompanying ‘That’s Time Flying’ is a music video, produced & filmed by the band at ‘DIVERS HQ’ in Forest Hill. It sees DIVERS influenced by 80’s space exploration, with footage from the moon landing & space missions playing in the background, whilst the band dressed as ironic astronauts perform & dance in the foreground. An almost psychedelic & zero gravity feeling is present throughout the clip.

“We tried a ‘less thinking, more doing’ approach with this clip. We had a really small window of time before everyone went away overseas on holiday, so on a Tuesday night after work we headed to Spotlight with a 100 dollar budget. We ended up buying 4 orange jumpsuits, 4 buckets and some tin foil. Took it all back to HQ, knocked up a green screen in the band room and sent it to the moon.” DIVERS

DIVERS combines multi-instrumentalists Ben Bray, Scott McQuilten, Jake Green and Tom Evans, with video calls & a joint love of music leading to the band signing with Domestica La La. Support from tastemaker triple j (Home & Hosed), as well as triple j Unearthed (Rotation, Top 5 Tracks of The Week) would follow, alongside praise from Pilerats & Beat Magazine. The band have now accumulated 125,000+ streams across DSP’s, with their listeners continuously on an uptick.

Sharing stages recently with The Terrys, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers, STUMPS, Jebediah & stacks more, DIVERS are not only a bands favorite band, but are swiftly growing a reputation as one of Melbourne’s finest guitar-led outfits, with comedian Aaron Gocs a supporter as well. With more to come off of ‘Economy Class’, DIVERS are undoubtedly posed to light up Australia with their eclectic mix of influences from indie, rock, psych & a bit of everything in between.

“Divers steal my heart on every release. This one’ll have you completely lost in their textured, psychedelic space. That guitar in that last minute or so – pure bliss. You’ll be floating and if you leave your imagination open, you’ll be left seeing so much more.”

Claire Mooney, triple j

“Divers splash around, careering in different directions, keeping you on your toes with this exciting new one. I’m addicted!”

Declan Byrne, triple j

“Imagine DMA’S with their soaring indie rock but now imagine that sound all mussed up with anger and more grit. That’s what I’m hearing from Divers on this new one.”

Dave Ruby Howe, triple j Unearthed

“Divers, experimental indie-rockers who bring the creativity to their live shows.”

Beat Magazine

“The Melbourne based pop-rockers appeal to the senses… delivering a high-energy slice of guitar driven goodness. Layers upon layers of instrumentation and lush sound fill the track, creating a full sound that swings into the experimental and psych realms. Passionate and powerful vocals ground the outfit to their rock roots, melodies drawing from pop influence to deliver a catchy hook”
