GRETA STANLEY

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM

‘IF I GET IN, WHERE WOULD I GO’?

Greta Stanley has been evolving consistently into one of our most dynamic and engaging artists; in a career that has grown to encompass two studio albums, two EPs, and a catalogue of impressive collaborations and performances that have made her an unforgettable talent, Greta has continued to show listeners that with each release and performance, there is still more to know about her.

The charisma and chemistry that forms her music has produced two impactful singles already for 2024 in ‘Life Of The Party’ and ‘When You Call’ and today, Greta officially announces the next step – the arrival of her new record, If I Get In, Where Would I Go? – set for release on September 27.

As Greta’s third studio album, If I Get In… is an intensely personal collection of music that sees the artist navigate observations on mental health, physical and emotional ailments; as well as the road she has travelled in trying to overcome and find hope in the dark times.

Delivered with the honesty and heart-led approach that has defined her material to date, If I Get In… is in some ways, Greta Stanley presented in her most vulnerable form. But in others, it is music that portrays her at a new strength.

I hope the listeners feel like they can relate, feel less isolated, and maybe feel empowered to find the love they deserve, and to do the hard stuff and get help in a way that suits them. I hope it leaves people feeling hopeful, because despite all the shitty stuff in the external world, and my own internal one, my beautiful friends, family, animals and listeners give me hope every day, and it does get better, I promise x”

Greta Stanley’s music has reflected a beautiful songwriting style, as well as a bold sonic approach; a fusion of indie-pop, folk, electronica and rock matches Greta’s presence as a vocalist and writer – naturally confident and vibrant.

With a catalogue that has garnered over 30 million streams across platforms and a collaboration history that has born tracks including ‘Stay In Your Lane’ with Bronson Diamond (approximately 11 million streams and growing); ‘The Come Down’ with Robbie Miller (2.8 million Spotify streams) and ‘Bottle It Up’ with Riley Pearce (6.2 million Spotify streams), Greta Stanley has gone from strength to strength in recent years.

A versatile and striking performer, Greta has toured extensively on her own and supporting the likes of Amy Shark, Tash Sultana, The Rubens and more; while becoming a festival favourite, performing at a range of events including Yours and Owls Festival, Groovin The Moo, BIGSOUND and more.

To celebrate the release of If I Get In, Where Would I Go?, Greta will be performing a special hometown show in Cairns on Friday 27 September.

THE COMFORT RETURN

WITH ELECTRIC NEW SINGLE

“THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD”

OUT NOW

Australian alternative rock outfit The Comfort make a thrilling return with their existential new single “The Weight of the World”. Stream HERE and watch the official music video HERE.

All at once atmospheric, intimate, and undeniably electric, “The Weight of the World” sees The Comfort team up with renowned producer Callan Orr (Dream On Dreamer) for a heaven-made match that breathes new life into the project as their first new music in two years.

Lyrically, the new single delves into feeling the weight of existence, truth-seeking and trying to find answers in the seemingly meaningless. “We have this newfound abundance of information but the same lack of power to affect the awful things we are witnessing, while we watch the people with the power to act do nothing but succumb to greed,” says vocalist and guitarist Liam Holmes. “The disconnect from reality is profound. We could have such a positive impact on the world, yet it feels like we are just destroying the earth and its inhabitants. I find it hard to engage in the harmful games society plays, I fear it’s becoming too late to change course.”

Before finding a home within The Comfort’s discography, “The Weight of the World” was initially intended for a heavier side project. “We decided that this just had to be a Comfort song, despite its clearly different style to what we usually write,” reveals vocalist and bassist Dominic Harper. “I guess we found that once you add the vocals, it becomes The Comfort. There are a few other heavy songs similar to this floating around that might one day make it out of the vault, but this one felt like it couldn’t wait.”

With a loyal fanbase extending far beyond Australian shores – a fan from Texas once flew to Brisbane just to see them play, and Chicago sits contently in their top streaming cities – it’s no surprise the trio, comprised of Liam Holmes, Dominic Harper, and Marcus Parente, have stacked up over 7million streams and airplay from major stations triple j, Triple M, BBC Radio 1 and Kerrang! Radio. The band have also built an impressive live resume, supporting artists they grew up listening to like Saosin, Thrice, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Say Anything, and Circa Survive. Aside from these achievements, The Comfort say “our most cherished moments as a band have been the connections we have made with fans from all over the world.”

2024 promises to deliver more new music from The Comfort as they continue to push the boundaries of their sound.

QUINNY ANNOUNCES AFFECTING NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘SETTLERS’

QUINNY ANNOUNCES AFFECTING NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘SETTLERS’

QUINNY

ANNOUNCES AFFECTING NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘SETTLERS

Scottish-born, Melbourne-based artist Quinny weaves warmth into wistful, driving indie folk via his brand new single Settlers out in the world today. Previously renowned for his tongue-in-cheek Christmas sonic creations, as well as strangers frequently mistaking him for Ed Sheeran in public, Quinny’s brand new single showcases his absorbing creative flair, as does the accompanying video for Settlers also out today.

Penned in rural Maine in America during 2022 alongside friends Marie Collins (The Vegan Leather) and Hannah Daman, Settlers was given its finishing touches courtesy of Graham McCusker, a composer for BBC’s His Dark Materials and lead artist in Glasgow/Manchester bands KAZE and Marouli. Recording in Scotland with Robin Evans (Dodgy & The View), Settlers embraced many of Quinny’s musical muses while also capturing the poignant heartache that accompanies disappointment, as Quinny elaborates, “This song is about confronting those you rely on most when they have let you down. There’s a sort of stadium-folk feel to it. I wanted to have big chords, but also some delicate verses. If you listen to the piano, you’ll hear a bit of Sigur Rós influence, and I like to think I go a bit Billy Corgan at the end too.”

Featuring Quinny himself, aka Peter Quinn, on vocals, guitar and bass, Settlers also incorporates Graham McCusker on piano and vocals, Martin Tormey on drums and vocals, Marie Collins on vocals, Hannah Daman on vocals, Martin Quinn on vocals, and additional production by Nathan Cable. Also amplifying the track’s compelling subject matter and instrumentation, the visual accompaniment for Settlers features a relatable narrative, with director and filmmaker Conor Reilly working alongside Quinny and the clip’s actors Martin Quinn and Stephan Buchanan to bring the Settlers creative vision to life, along with some stunning landscape visuals shot in Quinny’s home country. “The video is about anxiety,” shares Quinny. “It features a young man going about his daily business, constantly being interrupted by someone else – a manifestation of his woes. He tries to just ignore it, until finally starting to take some action and getting out and about in the Scottish Highlands. Because of the nature of the sound, I thought some wide shots of Scottish mountains would be quite fitting, and it’s worked really well. Martin and I workshopped the concept and story with a few people before landing where it did. After a point, I left Martin to it as he was on a roll! Originally, the video was set to a different song from the album, No Place to Die, but after a few edits, it was clear Settlers was the right choice.”

A talented singer and songwriter hailing from Scotland, Quinny’s musical endeavours has seen him fuse his burgeoning flair alongside his four influential B’s, namely Biffy Clyro, Blink-182, The Beatles and Bombay Bicycle driving behind Quinny’s ultimate trademark sound. With tours in the UK and North America under his belt, the multifaceted creative shifted to Melbourne in early 2020, with his newfound hometown sparking creative excitement in true rock’n’roll fashion. “I love it, honestly,” says Quinny of the Melbourne music scene. “Compared to Glasgow and London, Melbourne has remained rock’n’roll through and through. Less bands with backing tracks and more bass players jumping into the crowd at a packed out 100 cap show.”

Alongside performances headlining shows at The Gazo, Last Chance, Retreat and Fitzroy Pinnacle in Melbourne, Quinny also won the 2020 Darebin Songwriters’ People’s Choice Award shortly after moving down under for his single Found & Lost. Described by Tenement TV as “an enthralling mix of the raucous and sentimental with witty lyricism and poppy charm”, Quinny had spent the past few years releasing older material and flippant Christmas songs, with One Foot In The Grave’s Richard Wilson making an appearance in one of Quinny’s Christmas videos.

Set to perform at Fitzroy Pinnacle on Tuesday August 15 armed with his latest track, the brand new Quinny chapter is already shaping up to be one to remember. “Generally, at my live shows I talk too much! I saw Georgia Knight at the Forum supporting Blonde Redhead recently and she hardly talks…I aspire to be that cool,” Quinny concludes. “No one can understand what I’m saying anyway. This will be the first outing for a few of the songs of my upcoming album, so I’m looking forward to starting to get them on their feet with the full band. If nothing else, the backing vocals will be amazing; Estelle and Naomi always do such a great job.”

Settlers is out now.

51st AVENUE MAKE A STATEMENT WITH RIFF-HEAVY NEW SINGLE ‘MOMENTS’

51st AVENUE MAKE A STATEMENT WITH RIFF-HEAVY NEW SINGLE ‘MOMENTS’

51st AVENUE MAKE A

STATEMENT WITH

RIFF-HEAVY NEW SINGLE

‘MOMENTS’

Sydney’s 51st Avenue are back and sounding heavier than ever, with their huge new track ‘Moments’ – a track that delves into new territory thematically and sonically, and is the first to feature new bandmate Anthony Carollo on bass duties.

Starting things off with a moody synth and drum machine section, vocalist Alynnis Zizza’s vocals build tension perfectly in the verse before the track erupts in the first chorus; with huge modern-metalcore riffage pushing the song to the next level. During the writing process for ‘Moments’, Zizza took more of a lighthearted approach and decided to have fun with the track lyrically – describing a one night stand, a topic that strays from the bands often more introspective lyricism.

“I’ve been waiting for a track that makes me feel like dancing so when I heard the instrumental of ‘Moments’, I couldn’t help but move. It’s really different to our other tracks so I figured why not lean into that and write about something we haven’t before. It’s also not a very long track at all so naming it ‘Moments’ and writing about a one night stand felt very appropriate and heaps of fun! I’ve also been in my mum era so a step out of that was refreshing.”  ALYNNIS ZIZZA, 51ST AVENUE

‘Moments’ is the first track written with bass player Anthony Carollo, who took on some of the songwriting load during the process. During the songwriting sessions, the band felt they needed to find a moment to really bring the track home – leading to the band’s first ever breakdown.

“This was my first time being involved in more of a formal writing process with some real intent. It was eye opening to see the process behind the scenes of a band I’ve known and admired for so long, and I loved every moment. We approached the song wanting some real signature 51st pop/rnb vibes in the verse and intros, with a melting chorus. The song evolved and we all agreed that the bridge needed to be climactic and something we haven’t done before, and so our first breakdown was born! When I listen back to the finished song it ‘s like the room stops, and I can’t wait for the world to hear what we’ve worked so hard on!”

51st Avenue have made a name for themselves as a mainstay on the alternative live circuit over the last few years, with opening spots for The Beautiful Monument, Eat Your Heart Out, Hands Like Houses and more. The band have seen constant support from radio and media alike; with features from tastemakers such as  Wall Of Sound, Heavy Mag, Music Feeds and Tone Deaf; and consistent airplay on triple J and triple J Unearthed.

PRAISE

A full-on, wall of pounding noise melds into a melodic breakdown heralded by the honey-flavored yet biting vocals of Alynnis Zizza, ‘ICU’ is 51st Avenue’s most personal song yet.”
Scenestr

“Remnant”, the latest offering from Sydney punk hopefuls 51st Avenue showcases their potential in spades. It’s all complimented by some glossy guest vocals from the Inertia frontman Julian Latouche too.”

The AU Review

“Sydney trio 51st Avenue embrace their pop influences on new single ‘Find Me’. The follow-up to July’s ‘Mind Your Own’ – described as “dramatic” and “hair raising” by Dave Ruby Howe – ‘Find Me’ is 51st Avenue’s attempt at penning the song of the summer.”

MUSIC FEEDS

“‘Chapters’ continues to build on the foundations of songs like Find Me, Mind Your Own and Remnant, bolstering 51st Avenue’s creation of hard-hitting and exciting music that fuses electronic and pop music together with heavy rock influences.”

Heavy Magazine

“a heart-wrenching exploration of addiction and the toll it takes on loved ones. Teaming up with Julian Latouche of Inertia, the quartet delivers a powerful, emotional track that showcases their ability to blend electronic pop and heavy rock into a hyper-modern sound that is all their own.”

CHAVEZ CARTEL SHARE HYPNOTIC NEW SINGLE + VIDEO UNFAMILIAR BOY

CHAVEZ CARTEL SHARE HYPNOTIC NEW SINGLE + VIDEO UNFAMILIAR BOY

CHAVEZ CARTEL

SHARE HYPNOTIC NEW SINGLE + VIDEO UNFAMILIAR BOY

A hypnotic blend of grit and post punk narcosis, the brand new single Unfamiliar Boy out now from Gold Coast five-piece Chavez Cartel is a woozy yet powerful continuation of the group’s trademark sound, serving up simmering intensity alongside a fittingly moody music video also
out now.

Opening in a stripped-back haze, Unfamiliar Boy soon grows to oscillate between smoky simplicity and raucous choruses, headily driven by the repeated mantra “I wanna change, I need a change / I’m only human after all” and healthy servings of post punk rock. With nods to the psychedelic stylings Iggy and the Stooges as well as IDLES, Arctic Monkeys and Fontaines D.C., Unfamiliar Boy ultimately draws you headfirst into a vivid reflection on the overwhelming rollercoaster that is time, as the band explains, “The song was inspired by a period of time where life seemed to be going really fast and having the feeling where you don’t have time to even think.

Like life is slipping through your fingers and you can’t quite grasp what’s really going on. Not a good headspace to be in. There’s a line coming out of the breakdown, “I need to wheel-spin
in the mud, now that the months feel more like weeks”, that paints the mental picture of that feeling. It’s sort of like a plea where I’m going “If my head is going to go round in circles this fast can’t we at least stand still while we’re burning out and overheating so we’re not wasting any more time while we’re doing it?”.

Working alongside friend and frequent collaborator Jake Johnson, aka Burning Jacobs Ladder, Unfamiliar Boy firmly captures the live Chavez Cartel sonic potency, with the addition of Spencer Martin on mixing duties also continuing the creative thread in the band’s recent creative journey. “We did this song with a good mate of mine called Jake Johnson aka Burning Jacobs Ladder,” shares the band. “He’s a really great producer, he produces all his own music and he’s had a lot to do with our band over the last few months. He filled in on bass for our US tour and was a really cool addition to the lineup. We wanted to take that tour sound into studio with us and we’ve replicated it quite well. Johnson also engineered All I Know for us as well which is the bonus track on our Red Flag Blues EP. Those songs came out in March (check ‘em out!) Spencer Martin mastered the song for us who is an American mix/mastering engineer based in South Korea. He worked with Johnson a lot on his stuff, so we kept that working relationship going on our song.”

Wielding a slick yet gritty aesthetic, the accompanying music video for Unfamiliar Boy balances performance visuals along with punctuated shots of New York, resulting in a journey that feels simultaneously intimate yet perfectly curated, with all the featured visuals filmed by Brooklyn-based videographer Katie Oliver during the band’s recent North American visit. “The video was filmed by Katie,” the band shares, “It was all filmed on our New York leg of the US tour. She followed us around and hung out with us while we were playing over there and covered all our shows. She’s a real cool cat and came out partying with us and showed us round the city a bit too. It’s all there in the video. The video has a bit of a gritty/grungy tour documentary sort of vibe which is exactly what we wanted for this song. It’s more of an intimate live diary sort of feel as opposed to our previous production heavy music videos. Chavez Cartel in New York City. I still can’t get over it. Proud accomplishment.”

Releasing two EPs in 2019, Lucky Lucky and Confidence Is All I’m Taking Home, Chavez Cartel bunkered down during the pandemic years, ultimately turning their gaze and full focus into sharpening their sound and songwriting. The end result saw the band sign with End Of The Trail
Records and release their 2023 EP Man’s Best Friend, before embarking on an extensive East Coast headline tour, supporting The Reytons on their What’s Rock N Roll Australian run, tour as main support alongside The Delta Riggs, and tick off their first ever UK performances, including headline shows in Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham, along with performances at The Great Escape Festival and at the End Of The Trail Creative Showcase in London.

In 2024, Chavez Cartel took off overseas once again, performing at The New Colossus Festival in New York as well as at SXSW in Austin, Texas, with both experiences broadening the global reach of this talented Gold Coast group. A band undeniably on the rise and one absolutely not to be missed, Unfamiliar Boy is the beginning of a phenomenal new chapter for Chavez Cartel; and following an extremely busy 12 months on the road, the band are raring to reveal even more new music to the world in the not-too-distant future, as they conclude, “It feels like we’re back to business. Whenever we get back off touring it always feels like we’re doing nothing because the pace is so slow compared to life on the road.

Of course, we never stand still, but the change of intensity is always disheartening. It feels like we’re working again now. We’re still in the studio finishing off a second song which will be the follow up single to Unfamiliar Boy. It’s a real change of pace for us but it’s a really beautiful track. We played it live once in Byron Bay a couple of years ago and it was received really well. We don’t often get chance to perform any stripped-back songs, but Byron is a hippy town and we dropped it at a small venue down there. It was quite magic, so we’re really happy to be digging this one out and getting it laid down. It shows our versatility as writers. Stay tuned for more to come.”

Unfamiliar Boy is out now.

HEARTLINE SHARE NEW SINGLE “SYNTHETIC” OFF ‘PINK LEMONADE’ EP

HEARTLINE SHARE

NEW SINGLE “SYNTHETIC”

OFF ‘PINK LEMONADE’ EP

Adelaide alternative metal quartet Heartline share new single Synthetic from upcoming EP ‘Pink Lemonade’, out Friday August 16, and announce their headline launch tour presented by Destroy All Lines.

Their third single from the new EP, Synthetic, thematically draws on the way people interact online and the aggressive nature of it. “It’s about how peoples communication on the internet is so perverted and twisted compared to proper communication,” says vocalist Luke Taylor.

“Every discussion you see becomes a personal hostile fight, we’re losing the ability to be respectful and united in trying to understand one another. I also draw on my personal battle with getting sucked into reading comment sections knowing they’re gonna make me mad and put me in a bleak mood.”

Produced by Sam Trott (Rogue Half) with a mix and master by Nick Sjogren (Thornhill), the bands forthcoming LP ‘Pink Lemonade’ is a digital fusion of pop and metal, weaving in and out of expansive EDM soundscapes and soaring chorus’ before unleashing waves of grinding guitar and bass, showcasing Heartline’s musicality as a unit. The quartet’s latest three releases see the band explore new creative ground, to be heard across the release.

‘Pink Lemonade’ will be celebrated live across the East Coast across two weekends late August. The Pink Lemonade Tour will visit Adelaide’s Rhino Room, The Gaso Upstairs in Melbourne, Jungle Duke Hotel in Wagga Wagga and Volta in Ballarat. Tickets on sale now!

Heartline is Luke Taylor, Nevenko Sarunic, George Carey and Michael Cooper. Since their debut in 2019, Heartline have continuously shown themselves as an exciting and promising act to watch in the Australian alternative music scene. Popular releases Delorean and the two-track drop ‘Somewhere Else [I]’ established a sound that seamlessly combined hard-hitting and complex grooves with soaring melodies and irresistible dance elements, with Delorean landing the band a coveted cover spot on Spotify’s Homegrown & Heavy playlist.

Pairing their fresh sound with a relentless, energetic and captivating live performance, the four-piece have earned a place performing alongside artists to the likes of The Word Alive(US), Holding Absence (UK), Crossfaith (JPN), Paledusk (JPN), Thornhill, Windwakerand more and secured a tour with Dance Gavin Dance (US) late 2023, winning over thousands across Australia.

With their following rapidly growing, Heartline level up with each new release. Synthetic is available and streaming everywhere now. The EP ‘Pink Lemonade’ will be out Friday August 16.

‘BREAKING NEWS’

“‘breaking news’ is about the thought process when you go from a crush to falling in love super uncontrollably fast and you can’t stop it, in combination with the shock of realising ‘whoa this is more than a crush’. I was feeling sad when I wrote it, actually. I wanted to feel something lovey dovey, so I wanted to manifest feelings through a song.” – flowerovlove

Fresh off her hit ‘BOYS’, which SZA proclaimed “fire as hell”, flowerovlove returns with ‘breaking news’ – a shimmering anthem for lovestruck summer nights. Produced by Duck Blackwell (Kylie Minogue, Louis Tomlinson, Icona Pop) and co-written with her close friend Ines Dunn (Maisie Peters, Astrid S), the euphoric track emerged as the singer-songwriter turned to music to express complicated feelings she didn’t want to talk out with the person causing them.

flowerovlove performed ‘breaking news’ live for the first time during her debut Glastonbury set last month. Singling out her performance, Nataal observed: “flowerovlove’s blend of soft pop told tales of unrequited crushes and ‘thinking about boys too much’. The young London artist sent us skipping with ‘hugs and kisses’ and heart hands all around.”

After completing her run of UK festivals, flowerovlove will make her US debut this fall with headline shows at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NY on November 12 and The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on November 14.

A little bit more about flowerovlove…
At just 19 years old, the young London artist has become one-to-watch in both the music and fashion worlds. ENUMCLAW SHARE

NEW SINGLE “NOT JUST YET”

FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Tacoma, Washington’s-own Enumclaw shares new single Not Just Yet. The second offering from their forthcoming sophomore album ‘Home in Another Life‘, out August 30th via Run For Cover Records and Cooking Vinyl Australia, Not Just Yet juxtaposes grandiose musicality with a tenderly written and distressed ode to band members Aramis Johnson & Eli Edwards’ Uncle Mike. Recently diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimers, Aramis clamors for more time with Uncle Mike, the man who “taught him everything” and shouts in disbelief over the top of thundering, arena-shaking drums from Ladaniel Gipson.

Alongside the single, Enumclaw have teamed up with frequent collaborator and director John C. Peterson, who also directed the video for lead single Change, for another explosive music video centering on one long zoom out shot.

“This video all started with a painting that Andrew Durgin-Barnes did for Rizzo and Quasi Skateboards,” director John C. Peterson says of the video. “Barnes’ painting screamed a story so I’d always wanted to adapt it to a one-take music video. Once I told Aramis my idea over a year ago, he was always adamant we had to do it. ‘Not Just Yet’ was the perfect song for it. Short and sweet. Loud. We did our best to bring the painting to life and I think we did it justice. It was extremely gratifying to have Barnes there on set and approve of what we were doing. We encountered a million problems in pre-production and the video almost fell through countless times… turns out doing a music video that requires a techno-crane, a city alley, explosives, and children is difficult to pull off.”

Co-produced by Ben Zaidi and Enumclaw, ‘Home in Another Life’ is the natural expansion of the high-octane rock foundation the band built with their widely-praised 2022 debut album ‘Save The Baby’. Across the eleven tracks of ‘Home in Another Life’, vocalist and principle songwriter Aramis Johnson cracks open his chest cavity for quakingly tender songs written and performed to electrify basement shows and reverberate through arenas in equal measure. Aramis and Enumclaw write and perform like a band wrestling with the weight of growing up without looking for pity or to wallow in that baggage, while harnessing the power of reckoning with those changes head-on and kicking the door down for bands just like them in a predominately white indie-rock space. ‘Home In Another Life’ is louder, faster, poignant and achingly resonant, but doesn’t forget how to have fun and enjoy the moment too. ‘Home in Another Life’ brings the world to Tacoma rather than the other way around.

In the time since the release of ‘Save The Baby’, Enumclaw has criss-crossed North America performing across the continent to serve fans in both major markets and small towns that are often overlooked on routed tour runs. Alongside the announcement of ‘Home In Another Life’, the band released a tour documentary recounting their first tour run overseas and expressing an appreciation for the long nights, early mornings and the full scope of life on tour, narrated by Aramis Johnson. Enumclaw is rounded out by guitarist Nathan Cornell, drummer Ladaniel Gipson, bassist (and Aramis’ younger brother) Eli Edwards. Watch “A Working Band Abroad” here.

Enumclaw joined forces with Australia’s own ARIA award-winning duo, Flight Facilities, in May for the infectious single Days Of The Week, which also came paired with a video by John C. Peterson that found placement on ABC’s Rage. Watch here.

Not Just Yet and Change are out now and streaming everywhere. The ‘Home in Another Life’ album will be available Friday August 30 via Run For Cover Records & Cooking Vinyl Australia, pre-orders live now.

HOTTER THAN HELL

SET TO RETURN IN OCT/NOV

FEAT. REGURGITATOR / LESS THAN JAKE / UNWRITTEN LAW / JEBEDIAH / LITTLE BIRDY & MORE

Grab a pair of Vans and your best mates and get set for some classic summer festival vibes like the good old days; this October and November, the hottest ticket in town will be Hotter Than Hell, with the Aussie festival celebrating all things rock returning later this year for a monster 2024 edition with one stage, no clashes and affordable prices with tickets from $85. Bringing the old-school vibes off the beaten track to outdoor venues in Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland, Hotter Than Hell will feature unforgettable performances across five days from familiar and new favourites, including the likes of Regurgitator, American icons Less Than Jake (performing in SA and QLD only) and Unwritten Law (performing in WA and VIC only), along with Jebediah, Little Birdy, The Bennies, Adalita, and The Kickons. Once again bringing a monstrous lineup truly blessed by the rock gods down under, Hotter Than Hell is here to kick off summer festival season with a bang!

From just $85, tickets for Hotter Than Hell go onsale to the general public on Wednesday July 24 at 12pm local time from hotterthanhelltour.com.au, fans can register for presale tickets now from hotterthanhelltour.com.au, with the presale kicking off Monday 22 July at 12pm local time.

An undisputed and unstoppable force on the Aussie alternative landscape, Hotter Than Hell’s 2024 headliners Regurgitator need very little introduction. Forming in Brisbane in the early 90s, the group have gone on to take home multiple ARIA Awards, tour the globe across Australia,
New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East, playing with Weezer, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Prodigy and Silverchair, and obliterate festival stages, from the iconic days of Big Day Out through to their recent appearance as part of 2022’s Good Things
Festival. Armed with ten studio albums under the Regurgitator moniker, including their groundbreaking 1996 debut album Tu-Plang, through to their recent 2024 opus Invader, Regurgitator remain a cultural force to be reckoned with.

Boundlessly inventive, and armed with everything from rock, rap, funk, and thrash (and even a kid’s album for good measure), Regurgitator’s live show remains to this day as infamous as their genre-defying earworms; and Hotter Than Hell was the perfect lure to get the band back on Aussie stages again, as the band share, “We were pretty set on taking a decent break after the high paced energy of making our latest album INVADER. As we rolled along over this great land and saw how much you poured your hearts into enjoying our Invasive tour performances, the Hotter Than Hell folks reached out wanting us to continue the momentum for another run of their festival dates end of year. We took a deep breath and said what the hell… let’s keep the heat on eleven. Great lineup, and great locations… one more run around the continent this year. So here we go, thick and fast as we rampage into another summer season… and it just gets hotter every year!”

Set to perform at Hotter Than Hell in South Australia and Queensland this year, Florida ska rockers Less Than Jake have unleashed nine studio albums, ticked off performances at Warped Tour, Hellfest, and When We Were Young, and performed with NOFX, Bowling For Soup, MxPx and New Found Glory. With a legion of global fans and a sweltering streaming presence, including 59+ million individual streams and counting for their smash single All My Best Friends Are Metalheads on Spotify alone, Less Than Jake are also revered for their enigmatic live shows, where you’re guaranteed to head home with their infectious songs ringing in your head and a smile plastered on your face.

Recently releasing a new single Broken Words, Less Than Jake will be down under for their headline run kicking off in October alongside their Hotter Than Hell appearance, set to play Hello Rockview in full, and all their hits. “Can’t believe it’s been six years since we’ve partied with our friends down under! Way too long!” shares Less Than Jake’s Matt Yonker. “Australia is one of our favourite places to play. Other than just being a beautiful place to visit, I’m always amazed at how attractive the people are down there, must be the water! We also all appreciate just how on point the coffee game is. No joke, you get an A+ on coffee consistency, I’m not sure I’ve ever had bad coffee there! Aussie audiences easily hang with the rest of the world. I think they may even be a touch crazier. And that’s a compliment, I’m really looking forward to the mayhem.”

Exclusively performing in Western Australia and Victoria this year as part of Hotter Than Hell, punk rock mainstays Unwritten Law emerged onto the scene in the early 90s welding classic punk with melodic hardcore elements. Finding chart and global success via their breakthrough
1998 self-titled record, Unwritten Law have since released seven full-length albums, toured extensively at home and abroad, including as part of Warped Tour, and generated millions of streams and video views along the way. Having only toured one other country more times than
Australia (their own), it’s no stretch to declare Unwritten Law as genuine honorary Aussies, with the group hitting our shores repeatedly since 1996. And 2024 certainly won’t be Unwritten Law’s first Hotter Than Hell rodeo, as the band shares, “With the last Hotter Than Hell being the
last tour we did before the world shut down, it holds a special place in our hearts. We’re thrilled to come be a part of it again! We’ll be playing the Black album in full and that’s always been a good time. What’s not to love about Australia? Grab some twisties, get a pub feed, down a VB and have a surf! Honestly though, we love the people. It’s no joke that it’s our second home. We even have a full-blooded Aussie in our band now! We just feel so accepted in the culture, it’s a crazy thing to have that kind of connection to someplace that’s so far away from where we’re from. Music is magic.”

For any Australian of a certain vintage, the name Jebediah likely conjures memories of endless summers and riff-soaked good times in the 90s, stemming from the band’s explosive shift from Perth teenagers to an integral part of the fabric of Australian rock’n’roll. Immediately snatching attention with their 1996 hit Jerks of Attention, the group swiftly cultivated heavy airplay on triple j and ticked off performances at both Homebake and Big Day Out, before solidifying their legendary status with their debut studio album Slightly Odway, boasting the beloved anthem Leaving Home. Appearing at all five Hotter Than Hell events later this year, Jebediah will also arrive armed with their hit new 2024 album OIKS.

Storming onto the Aussie alternative radar back in the early 2000s, Perth rockers Little Birdy packed a punch throughout the decade, including three albums, 2004’s BigBigLove, 2006’s Hollywood, and 2009’s Confetti, five ARIA Award nominations, and tours with R.E.M and onstage at Falls Festival, Big Day Out and Great Escape Festival, while their gutsy pop and rock fare also tickled the alternative airwaves with gusto, particularly via singles Relapse, Beautiful to Me and Tonight’s the Night. Also primed to perform at all five of the Hotter Than Hell editions this October and November, this will mark the Little Birdy’s first return to a festival stage in well over a decade, with BigBigLove set to be performed in its entirety! “It’s been a long time since we played those youthful songs as a band so we are all excited by the idea of revisiting them,” shares Little Birdy vocalist and guitarist Katy Steele. “I also love the concept of us playing the record in its entirety. These shows should be so much fun!”

A psychedelic storm of reggae, ska, and beyond, The Bennies have been brandishing their boisterous wares since the release of their 2011 debut album Party! Party! Party!. A band who certainly knows how to get the party started in any setting, The Bennies kicked off 2024 supporting TISM in Frankston, Victoria, with the group locked and loaded to perform at Hotter Than Hell in Gepps Cross, Townsville and Brisbane this October and November. Renowned for their voracious live energy and an adoration for genre-defiance, there ain’t no party like a The Bennies party; strap in and enjoy the ride.

Founding member of Australian rock royalty Magic Dirt and an all-round Aussie icon, Adalita will be wowing Hotter Than Hell fans in Mt Evelyn, bringing her acclaimed solo work to the stage this October. With her highly respected solo career launching in 2011, Adalita has gone on to support Blondie and The Pretenders and also perform for His Holiness The Dalai Lama, with her most recent 2022 solo album Inland showcasing her enduring songwriting prowess and magnetic delivery.

Hailing from Perth, indie pop rockers The Kickons channel raw authenticity into their sonic creations. Releasing their new single In the Cold earlier this year, the group wield a formidable social media following, with 3.2 million likes on their TikTok channel alone, and their live shows
also proving to be nothing short of a cathartic experience. The Kickons will appear at Hotter Than Hell this year in Dunsborough. “This is our first big festival, and to be on the Hotter Than Hell lineup is just unreal,” shares The Kickons. “We can’t wait to get out there and show everyone what we’ve got.”

Taking place in areas often not tread by touring routes or destination festivals, Hotter Than Hell is ultimately flying the flag for glory days of Homebake and Livid, summer fun and best mates once again with a truly scorching lineup in 2024.

Tickets for Hotter Than Hell go onsale to the general public on Wednesday July 24 at 12pm local time from hotterthanhelltour.com.au.

SALMON BROTHERS RELEASE TITULAR ALBUM SINGLE ‘MORE TO LOVE’, AHEAD OF THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM DUE 16TH AUGUST

SALMON BROTHERS RELEASE TITULAR ALBUM SINGLE ‘MORE TO LOVE’, AHEAD OF THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM DUE 16TH AUGUST

SALMON BROTHERS

RELEASE TITULAR ALBUM SINGLE

MORE TO LOVE’,

AHEAD OF THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM DUE 16TH AUGUST

After a thrilling debut with the release of two effervescent singles ‘Fools Can’t Tell No Lies’ and ‘Coming Up for Air,’ Nick Meredith, on behalf of Salmon Brothers, announces the release of their third single, ‘More To Love,’. This track is the precursor to their highly anticipated album of the same name, scheduled for release on 16th August via Dot Dash / Remote Control Recordings. The project has garnered widespread support across the industry, building eager anticipation for the full-length album next month.

‘More To Love’ captures the vibrant energy of Salmon Brothers, reflecting both their musical synergy and their deep friendship. Inspired by a couple who appeared on the Jerry Springer show, the single is marked by the clever lyrics and multi-layered hidden meanings. The phrase “so much more to love” suggesting that all is not what it seems. Nick Meredith shares “this was always a favourite of ours to listen to after a recording session. The original fade out goes on for about 5 minutes. Nick always laughed at my fade outs because they were either ridiculously long or ridiculously short. Something I probably won’t change about myself in the near future.”

The new songs have already been met with the warmest reception from industry and peers alike, having been featured across curated playlists including Spotify’s New Music Friday AU & NZ, Alt Here, and Apple Music’s New Music Daily, Indie Pop, Lifted, Glow and The Sound. Alongside, the release has seen tremendous support across Double J, 2SER, Pilerats, Amnplify, Aus Music Scene, auspOp, BBM Live, Music Feeds, with Acid Stag stating “it’s simply impossible to not immerse yourself within the good times on offer within this release, whether that be through the captivating falsetto tones or the luscious instrumentation compiled, one thing is for sure – a good time is to be had when delving deep into this impressive release.”

The journey to releasing ‘More To Love’ has been marked by unwavering determination and collaboration, as Nick’s friends and family rallied together to honour his vision. Spearheaded by his devoted mother, Helen Wellings, co-producer Richard Belkner, and close friend Simon Relf, the album has been meticulously crafted to uphold Nick’s standards of excellence. Prior to Nick’s passing, ‘More To Love’ was in the final stages of completion. With every song written and recorded, the album has preserved his artistic direction and creative essence in every note and lyric.

MAGDALENA BAY’S SOPHOMORE ALBUM IMAGINAL DISK OUT AUGUST 23 VIA MOM + POP MUSIC

Magdalena Bay

MAGDALENA BAY’S

SOPHOMORE ALBUM

IMAGINAL DISK

OUT AUGUST 23

Imaginal Disk, the sophomore album from acclaimed duo Magdalena Bay, is slated for release on August 23 via Mom+Pop Music—pre-save/pre-order it HERE. Additionally, a new song, “Image,” debuts today alongside a video directed by Amanda Kramer—listen HERE and watch HERE.

Close your eyes,” the band says. “Imagine a brand new, better you. Now wait 22 minutes. Now open your eyes. Meet your brand new image! Isn’t it amazing that the meat in our heads can do this?”

Following the “Death & Romance” video, which found True—played by the band’s Mica Tenenbaum—getting an “imaginal disk” upgrade inserted into her forehead, the “Image” video goes back in time to the waiting room where True stood by for her first fitting. Although disk infomercials playing on the televisions initially get True excited, she’s thrown for a loop when the upgraded consciousness she signed up for is different than what she expected.

“Image” follows the initial album offering, “Death & Romance,” which Vulture praised as “kaleidoscopic,” while PAPER commended the duo for another “glassy, sprawling prog-pop odyssey that builds from a tightly wound jam into something seemingly designed to hit the back walls of stadiums.”

Aside from last year’s EP, mini mix vol. 3, Imaginal Disk marks Magdalena’s Bay first full-length project since the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Mercurial World, in 2021. Vulture praised the album as “one of 2021’s best pop statements,” while Pitchfork celebrated the duo’s “magic power” of sounding “like whatever you grew up with, whenever that was,” and PopMatters commended the album for “providing a blueprint for a new generation of electronic pop.”

Magdalena Bay is the Los Angeles by way of Miami duo consisting of Mica Tenenbaum (vocals, producer, songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer, songwriter). The two first met at an after-school music program in Miami where they grew up, bonding over shared musical influences and eventually starting a prog rock band Tabula Rasa. That band broke up, but when Tenenbaum and Lewin crossed paths again in college, they reconnected with the goal of making something closer to pop music that blends retro and futuristic elements under the moniker Magdalena Bay. They released a series of EPs leading up to their critically acclaimed debut album Mercurial World in 2021 and went on to sell out their first headlining tour, play numerous festivals around the world— including Coachella in 2023, tour with Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, Flume and collaborate with Lil Yachty, JIHYO, Blu DeTiger and more.
