THE THRILLING NEXT CHAPTER OF HIS DISCO-HOUSE ODYSSEY

With three extraordinary singles having made their way into the ether, Dresden based disco megastar Purple Disco Machine has kept his fans grooving throughout this past year – providing a huge ray of sunshine as we need it most. Already a globally renowned producer, having been a staple of the dance music scene since 2011, Purple Disco Machine has quickly become a household name with the success of his international hit singles ‘Hypnotized feat.

Sophie and the Giants’ and more recently ‘Fireworks feat. Moss Kena & The Knocks’.

‘Hypnotized’ became an anthem the world over, having been streamed over 290 million times across platforms, whilst going triple Platinum in Italy, Poland and Switzerland, with the carefree stylings of ‘Fireworks’ quickly following suit with over 45 million streams to date, whilst dominating airwaves across Europe, hitting #1 in the airplay charts across Italy and Germany, and recently reaching a new global Shazam peak of #41.

Today, the German talent leads a rallying call to his disco army of super fans across the globe, with the release of his new single ‘Playbox’, a vibrant, high energy, disco-house treat that marks yet another exciting chapter of his sophomore album release.

The single is to be accompanied by an extraordinary video illustrated and animated by Juppi Juppsen, and Mathias Lemaitre Sgard, who created a vibrant homage to classic science-fiction, cyberpunk, retro-futurism spiced up with disco influences for ‘Playbox’. In the clip, Tino, in the form of a space superhero, and his female droid search for an ancient artefact which is said to hold the essence of music and, therefore, possess unimaginable power.

With just shy of 900 million streams across his catalogue to date, and over 9 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Purple Disco Machine continues to live up to the hype of #2 Beatport Artist of All Time. With a succession of notable remixes for Dua Lipa, Mark Ronson, Foals, Calvin Harris, Fatboy Slim, Sir Elton John, Royal Blood, Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande, Duke Dumont, and Diplo & SIDEPIECE, coupled with his own dominating originals ‘Body Funk’, ‘Dished (Male Stripper)’, and ‘Devil In Me feat Duane Harden & Joe Killington’ from his debut album SoulmaticPurple Disco Machine continues to innovate and elevate at every turn.

Purple Disco Machine’s new single ‘Playbox’ is out now on Sweat It Out.

KYE returns with ‘Gold’ featuring Sampa The Great + 18YOMAN

KYE returns with ‘Gold’ featuring Sampa The Great + 18YOMAN

KYE

returns with

Gold

featuring Sampa The Great +

18YOMAN

Zimbabwe-born, London-raised, Naarm/Melbourne-based vocalist KYE returns today with Sampa The Great and 18YOMAN (Kid Cudi, Cordae) on ‘Gold‘. Premiered by triple j on 2021Richard Kingsmill praised the single: “you can’t deny those talents!”

With her debut release ‘Sometimes‘, KYE demonstrated her ability to shine across impactful earworms. Now with ‘Gold‘, she proves herself as an undeniable talent, with a voice destined to take on the globe alongside like-minded stars Jorja Smith, Mahalia, and more. ‘Gold‘ radiates both lyrically and musically as keys glisten, percussion shimmers, and KYE glows, with her presence felt just as immediately and as spine-tingling as powerhouse performer Sampa The Great. Together they stand side by side, guided by the yellow brick road of 18YOMAN’s beaming production.

“It’s to date, my favourite way I’ve ever written a song, sprawled out in the sun, next to someone I love,” shares KYE. She continues, “I was lying on the couch on a surprisingly sunny day during winter last year and I remember just being the happiest and most at peace I’d felt all year. I was hanging with someone I really loved and we were going through some beats 18YOMAN had sent and I wrote the first half off the top of my head.” For 18YOMAN, ‘Gold‘ “means a lot to me as it’s one of the first songs I’ve entirely produced, I’m so excited for the world to hear it” he shares.

Sampa The Great reflects, It may seem like a different vibe to what I usually put out but I’ve grown accustomed to surprising people with the range I’m able to express myself in. It was one of the easiest writing processes for me and when I sent through the draft and got the green light, it was straight to recording in the studio. It also helped that the person who wrote it happens to be someone whose music I love and whose songwriting skills shine through evidently.”

Since introducing herself to listeners with ‘Sometimes’, KYE has gone on to receive playlist support from triple j, FBi Radio and MTV and more – praised as “enchanting” by The Interns“heart-rendering” by Sniffers“a special talent” by Pilerats, and “innovative” by Purple Sneakers, amongst others. Real name Kylie Tadiwa Chirunga, KYE’s relationship with music blossomed as a young child growing up in the UK. In between vivid memories spent singing through sickness and in health, gospel songs, talent shows, girl bands and more, her voice flourished with each deep embrace of her identity. Deeply informed by her experience as a young black woman experiencing life through a predominately white societal lens, KYE finds herself today confident, strong and humble, ready to share her mantra of embracing openness and finding joy in it, with the world. Stay tuned for more from KYE coming soon.

Emerson Snowe Releases New EP ‘Emerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk’ + Drops Video For EP Track ‘Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)’

Emerson Snowe

Releases New EP ‘Emerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk’

+ Drops Video For EP Track

Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)

Liberation Records are proud to release the sprawling, esoteric new EP from Emerson SnoweEmerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk is a collection of songs influenced by identity, selfishness, gore and optimism all written, recorded and produced by the artist himself.

Alongside the EP release, Emerson Snowe also shares a video for key track, ‘Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)’, a poignant, introspective song about pushing on and moving past negativity.

WATCH: Emerson Snowe – ‘Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)’

Emerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk was written mostly over the course of 2019 in a pre-Covid era where life was a different kind of chaotic, that involved playing shows in the US, UK, Europe and Japan, all whilst battling a series of new and old demons. Throughout the EP, the singer/ songwriter/ all-round-creative revisits and reflects on lost relationships, and attempts to accept the confronting realisation that everything must end.

“In a lot of ways I can relate myself to Will Smith’s character in ‘Hitch’. The romance coach who is able to show others how to love each other but is unable to do so himself. I’m writing music that people can enjoy and be uplifted by, but most of the time I’m unable to take my own advice.

“I genuinely thought I was writing really uplifting music (when I made Splatterpunk), but I listen back now and realise I wasn’t doing so well emotionally, maybe even physically. I feel as an artist all I can do is show my bare bones and have the EP as a diary entry of my time here on earth. So that’s that. I hope you enjoy.” – Emerson Snowe

Featuring the singles ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘You’re My Boy, Baby!’, the collection marks Emerson Snowe’s second EP release following his debut, That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. Both ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘You’re My Boy, Baby!’ have won praise from global sites including Under The Radar, DIY, Clash, So Young, Riot Magazine, The Guardian and NME, plus received multiple spins from Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1 and Hanuman Welch at Apple 1. The songs have also garnered widespread play across radio stations in Germany, Switzerland and Italy, in addition to airplay at triple j and community radio locally.

From Brisbane originally, Emerson Snowe has toured with King Krule and GUM, and spent the last few years overseas, finding kindred spirits within music, fashion and creative circles. He hopes to return to the live scene soon with shows in his current home of Germany.

JADE BIRD SHARES HER NEW SINGLE “NOW IS THE TIME”

JADE BIRD SHARES HER NEW SINGLE “NOW IS THE TIME”

JADE BIRD

SHARES HER NEW SINGLE

NOW IS THE TIME

Jade Bird today releases her new single, “Now is the Time”, taken from her forthcoming sophomore record Different Kinds Of Light, due for release on August 13th via Glassnote Records.

“If I had a penny for all your potential, I’d be left drowning in my mouthful of metal,” Jade sings on “Now is the Time”. The new track is a testament to Jade’s maturity and evolution with her songwriting; now able to identify and process her emotions more effectively, Jade’s storytelling ability is unmatched.

She talks of the new single, “Now is the Time is the only song to have me smiling and laughing listening to it back in RCA. We had the Beegee’s in mind and soul, triple tracking the vocals and putting a load of chorus on the guitar. I wrote it at the foot of our hotel bed in Mexico City, it’s a big motivational anthem for someone I want to put my arms around or lift them in the darkest time. Given that I wrote it mid pandemic, the sentiment to getting to the backend of this hell is heavily felt now, when I play it live and do a two step with my bass player!!!”

In advance of confirming details of the new album, Jade released ‘Headstart’ and ‘Houdini’ at the back end of 2020, followed more recently by the BBC Radio 1 play-listed single ‘Open up the heavens’ and the live EP ‘RCA Studio A Sessions’, taken from her live stream show from the iconic studios earlier this year which once again showcased her natural talent, uncompromising sense of self and enviable musicianship to the world. Jade also played a sold out, socially-distanced tour in America and turned in a brilliant performance of ‘Headstart’ for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (HERE).

The RCA studios in Nashville and the North American americana/alt-rock music scene feature heavily in the life cycle of this new album as that’s where Jade majoritively recorded ‘Different Kinds of Light’ with powerhouse producer Dave Cobb (John PrineLady Gaga). Over the last 2 years, Jade has organically become part of a community of American songwriters and artists, and the likes of Jason IsbellSheryl Crow and Jade’s friend and collaborator, Brandi Carlile have all taken the British voice firmly under their wing.

Jade Bird’s self-titled debut album was received with much critical acclaim when it was released in 2019. Even as a first offering from the then 21 year old, the album helped set the bar for female musicianship in the current age, carried along by Jade’s mature and sharply observed narrative vignettes of relationships, divorce and everything in between. Jade had a taste of the UK hype cycle, making the BBC’s 2018 Sound Of… poll and being tipped everywhere from Vogue to Rolling Stone. Her debut album ‘Jade Bird’ also received plaudits from the likes of Pitchfork and NPR.

Jade Bird remains one of the UK’s most individual and exciting female voices out there. With ‘Different Kinds of Light’ we find her cool, calm and collected – confidently striding ahead into her sure-to-be enthralling next chapter of her life and music.

“Now Is The Time” is available on all platforms now.

Pre-order ‘Different Kinds of Light’ HERE

Praise for Jade Bird:

“In a sea of songwriters overshadowed by overshot production and forced authenticityBird stands out as a self-assured voice.” – Pitchfork

Bird’s profound musings, which range the gamut from deeply personal to universal in scope, are told through a soaring blend of country, indie pop, and folk, but the most impactful musical element on display here is the rising artist’s ever-impressive voice. Liable to ascend into heart-piercing vocal acrobatics at a moment’s notice, what is most impressive is how Bird maintains her innate gift for impactful storytelling even in her quietest of moments.” – Ones to Watch

“(Jade Bird’s live show) rises with righteous lovelorn anger and falls with quiet reflection. Dipping between acoustic solos and full band freak-outs, it’s part smoky jazz club set, part thigh-slapping rodeo.” – The Guardian

Jade Bird(’s debut) has the edge of an assured debut album and is a startling introduction to a British talent who looks set to take the States by storm. Whatever she decides to do with the next set of songs – build them bold and brash, or strip them back to considered jams – it’s hard to imagine them failing on her anytime soon.” – NME

SPRING LOADED

ADDS TWO MAMMOTH SHOWS –

EATONS HILL OUTDOORS (BRIS)

AND

SIDNEY MYER MUSIC BOWL (MEL)

Off the back of the blockbuster success that was the sold out Bribie Island Spring Loaded event on the weekend and Sydney’s absolute crowd pleaser last month, Empire Touring is elated to announce two new mammoth Spring Loaded shows set to storm Eatons Hill Outdoors (Brisbane) on Saturday 13 November and the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne) on Saturday 4 December.  There will be an exclusive presale available from 10am AEST Monday 28 June and tickets go on sale to the general public at 10am AEST Wednesday June 30.

With ten shows set to have rocked around the country before the year is out, Spring Loaded has well and truly declared a triumphant return to live music. The colossal lineup dripping in 90s Aussie alt rock nostalgia boasts a haul of the decade’s most celebrated acts including Grinspoon, Regurgitator, You Am I, Jebediah, Custard, Magic Dirt, The Meanies, The Fauves, Screamfeeder and MC Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall.

And making every effort to squeeze more rock into the already larger-than-life lineups, Tumbleweed have just been added to both the Gosford and Adelaide events.

Due to the evolving Covid19 circumstances and with multiple bands based in Greater Melbourne, continued border closures & SA Health restrictions, the Adelaide show that was set to take place this weekend has been bumped to Saturday 6 November.  All tickets purchased for the original date will remain valid for the rescheduled date, without need for exchange.
The man who masterminded this bodacious opportunity for us all to relive our youth and celebrate the return of live music, Empire’s Marc Christowski is thrilled with the two new event additions, saying, “With two Spring Loaded shows under our belts I can definitely say that this show is all killer and no filler, every act gives 110% and everyone who’s attended leaves with a massive smile on their faces, bring it on!”

Covering all bases, the festival will be bustling with craft beer and an enviable collection of the locale’s cherry-picked food trucks.  Spring Loaded is a fully licensed 18+ event, strictly no BYO food or alcohol.  The shows are outdoor concerts and will go ahead rain, hail or shine.  No tables, tents, sun shelters or umbrellas are permitted, punters are urged to bring ponchos/raincoats and gumboots if rain is forecast.  Picnic rugs and low camp chairs are permitted, as are sealed bottles of water, and there will be water refill stations. And this killer event will be taken indoors to Adelaide – expect all the festival vibes with no weather issues.

After an unprecedented write off for live music in 2020, don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the return of the festival and the greatest era of the indie alt rock scene in Australia, and come and relive the soundtrack of your youth, live at Spring Loaded in 2021!

VIP tickets will be available for the Just Ace Place VIP Bar offering a premium viewing area, exclusive VIP entry, private bar and food area.

The Spring Loaded festival dates will be held with a commitment to a COVID Safe environment.  Festival organisers will work closely with and comply with all requirements of the public health authorities in respect of these shows. If any shows are required to be postponed, a postponement date will be announced and punters will be eligible for a full refund if they are unable to make the new date.

AUSSIE FOUR PIECE PIRRA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘NEVER APART’ AND EAST COAST TOUR

AUSSIE FOUR PIECE PIRRA ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE ‘NEVER APART’ AND EAST COAST TOUR

AUSSIE FOUR PIECE

PIRRA

ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE

NEVER APART

AND EAST COAST TOUR

Alternative indie pop auteurs Pirra have today announced their buoyant new single Never Apart, a synthy adventure produced by Sam Littlemore of Pnau, out NOW.  The group, whose namesake Pirra means moon in Luritja, a language spoken by the Luritja people, are set to hit the road for an east coast run of dates kicking off at Oxford Art Factory (Syd) on September 3 before moving on to The Toff (Mel) on September 10 and finishing up at Suzie Wongs Good Time Bar (Bris) on September 12.

After a year of isolation and anxiety, an exuberant track like Never Apart is a welcome, much-needed release.  It’s an irresistible bop from start to finish – synths bounce energetically as lead vocalist Jess Beck’s clever, hooky melodies earworm themselves into the listener’s memory.  Drawing upon influences such as Northeast Party House, RÜFÜS DU SOL and Running Touch, it’ll have you singing along even through the first listen.

Speaking on the creation of the track, guitarist and synth player James McKendry says, Never Apart was produced and mixed by Sam Littlemore (aka Sam La More) of Pnau.  He really challenged us to get out of our safe zone.  Never Apart started as an instrumental track Curtis (our bass player) was working on for days.  Eventually he emerged from his music cave and then I wrote the vocal melodies and lyrics.  The lyrics are vaguely about feeling connected to somebody, no matter the distance, but I wanted to make a melody that felt easy to sing along to and that people could find their own meaning to.  We were definitely inspired by Pnau, and had been listening to their album Changa around that time, although we never dreamed we would end up working with Sam Littlemore on this song!”

Pirra are currently signed to CR2 Records in London, who also represent electronic dance heroes Carl Cox and Camelphat.  Reflecting on how the deal came about, James explains, “At the time a publisher and friend of ours Rob Scott knew our music was headed in a dance direction so he got in contact with the head of CR2 Mark Brown and showed him our track Under the Skyline.  Mark loved the track, as well as some of the other demos we sent him so he offered us a record deal.  Since then, it’s been such a thrill to collaborate with some of our heroes and we’re pumped about some upcoming collaborations we hope to announce soon.”

Pirra is James McKendry (guitar, synth), Jess Beck (vocals), Curtis Argent (bass, synth) and Jeffrey Argent (drums)

Never Apart is out now on BLK&WHT RCRDS

NURIA REVEALS LATEST SINGLE “CLOSER”

NURIA REVEALS LATEST SINGLE “CLOSER”

NURIA

REVEALS LATEST SINGLE

CLOSER

Following the recent single release “Juliette”, Tasmanian singer-songwriter Nuria has returned with her latest prize “Closer”. A calming moment of easy listening, “Closer” explores the topic of young love while depicting Nuria’s diligence as a well-rounded artist with classically trained piano and vocal skills.

Closer looks at those primal adolescent feelings of first love and desire. I remember that time – feeling completely overcome by these crazy emotions,” said Nuria. “No longer a teenager myself, I see girls during that time and I find myself intimidated by their intensity. It’s such a wild time that will always fascinate me.”

Closer” comes straight off the back of Nuria’s most recent single “Juliette” which received praise from music blogs Amnplify, BackBeat Podcast, Female.com.au and Women in Pop who described the track as is “a lushly produced, dramatic ballad with soaring vocals set to a brooding backbeat which has elements of classical music, pop and indie”.

Nuria is the stage name of Tasmanian indie-pop artist Anna Maynard. Pronounced Noo-ree-ah, this name from her childhood meaning “Fire of the Lord” speaks of passion, boldness and captures a spirit unhindered by the constraints of growing up.

Nuria’s story is reflected in the depths of her songwriting – a childhood of fantasy, tumultuous adolescence of desires, insecurities and self-discovery, the “sensible” choice of a day job as a doctor and all the while a burning and insatiable desire to create and connect through music.

A seasoned performer, Nuria has previously worked under her name Anna Maynard having notable past performance opportunities including the Cygnet Folk FestivalNannup FolkFestivalTop Half Folk Festival and support act for the Waifs with fellow artist Dave Crowe (aka Resin Moon). She is also a regular feature at MONA, the Wrest Point Casino Hobart and an active member of the Australian Songwriters Association.

With the release of her debut album “Alive” in 2020, Nuria’s music is being received by audiences throughout Australia. With massive community radio support and her songs being added to the ABC rotation, this Tasmanian artist is building momentum with each release. Singles from her debut album have made it into the Top 30 for the 2020 Australian Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest as well as being selected in the Unsigned Only Competition semi-finals.

Taking the world by storm Nuria is preparing for the release of her second album in 2021. With her soulful and enigmatic vocals wrapped up in the multi-textured and elegant production work of Sam Phay and mix/master engineer Peter Holz, this emerging artist is stepping into an exciting new chapter.

“Closer” is available on all platforms now.

Penned with long-time collaborator and producer Jack Antonoff, ‘Solar Power’ is a refreshing dip back to organics, providing a new inspirational anthem for the Summer.

With backing vocals from Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers‘Solar Power’ has taken the world by storm, NME calling it a “gorgeous, sun-kissed rebirth” and a “quietly but supremely confident return”.

The track is a stunning shift in sound with The Guardian saying, “… it might be her most universal song, hippy in sound and spirit… Yet sung in pop’s most conspiratorial voice – that sweet, scratchy whisper – Lorde conjures its transformational magic anew”.

At the age of just 16, Lorde released her first album Pure Heroine, breaking into the international market and later going on to win two Grammy Awards including the coveted Song of the Year. The album peaked at #1 in over 20 countries, including Australia, New Zealand and America and featuring chart topping tracks ‘Royals’‘Tennis Court’ and ‘Team’.

With 2017’s follow up, Melodrama, Lorde achieved bona fide superstar status. Launching with pop gem ‘Green Light’, the record gained critical acclaim, a slew of award nominations, multi-platinum status, seeing Lorde now exceed 12 million album sales worldwide across her career and over 10 billion streams globally.

With her third studio album, Lorde turns her attention to nature. She says,
“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalising the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learnt to breathe out, and tune in. This is what came through.”

Renowned for her enthralling vocals and commanding stage presence, Lorde never fails to impress on the live stage. Visiting cities across Australia and New Zealand for the first time since her sold out 2017 national tour, don’t miss your chance to catch this epic performer live next year!

Blink three times when you feel it kicking in.”

Ticket buyers can pre-order Lorde’s Solar Power album at an exclusive special price via the ticketing links below.

WAWAWOW

unveil dates for their

QUARANTEEN SPIRIT

tour in July.

Album ‘PINK ELEPHANT’ is out now.

Sydney four- piece WAWAWOW are charged and ready to roll in July! Today they announce their tour dates playing songs from their ‘Pink Elephant’ album released in early 2020.

“We’re fully suited out in uniforms for this tour, we’ve got flashing lights on each of our heads, we coil lights around each of our instruments and control them from the stage. Occasionally we dabble in lasers, projections and glowing drumsticks. If you can’t make it to White Night or Vivid Sydney, just come to our show for your luminary fix!” says Shaun from WAWAWOW

Joined by a selection of special guests, WAWAWOW will be playing venues in Melbourne, Newcastle, Canberra, their hometown of Sydney, and the ‘Yours & Owls Sundays’ in Wollongong supporting Eliza & The Delusionals with Pinkish Blu and Sarah Jane

Releasing their 13 track album, which fused indie and electro with a great dash of psych-craziness and then  having to cancel their 2020 tour due to the pandemic was a real roadblock. However the time off has meant that their live show is “as ridiculous and fun as possible, so this tour is about making things right again. It’s important to us that the crowd enjoys every moment of the show, and our current setlist is really the best of the best. We throw in a few unexpected covers, keep everything extremely tight but also allow for stretches of jams, all while never stopping from start to finish. It means every show is unique, but there’s never a dull or bad one. We have fun, we fuck around, but we know our marks and we hit them every time.”

“Absolute madmen, the lot of you.”

Triple J Unearthed, Tommy Faith

“Stick the computerised punk energy of Regurgitator in a blender with a few riffs out of the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets handbook and you’ll start to paint an appropriate picture.”

Happy Magazine

“Absolutely mental and ridiculously precise”

Life Without Andy

“WAWAWOW’s interpretation of manic psych pop is nothing short of astonishing.”

AAA BACKSTAGE

“Nine Inch Nails, Plastic Bertrand, and the soundtrack to the weirdest dystopian anime you can imagine collide head-on here like trucks and meteors.”

The Underground Stage

“A high-octane psych-rock odyssey that spits in the face of sterility…”

Clipped.TV

“A shattered self-deprecating tone marching through odd time signatures taking cues from somewhere between the B-52s and Royal Blood.”

VENUES RELEASE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘MOUNTAINS’ FROM UPCOMING ALBUM SOLACE

VENUES RELEASE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘MOUNTAINS’ FROM UPCOMING ALBUM SOLACE

VENUES RELEASE

NEW SINGLE & VIDEO

‘MOUNTAINS’ FROM

UPCOMING ALBUM

‘SOLACE’

German modern metal outfit VENUES released their fourth single ‘Mountains‘ from their upcoming album »Solace«, due for release on 27th August via Arising Empire. »Solace« comes as CD and limited colored vinyl and unique merch bundle – pre-orders available now!

In close cooperation with videographer Marius Milinski the story that began in their previous singles ‘Rite of Passage‘, ‘Shifting Colors‘ & ‘Uncaged Birds‘ goes on in another crazy and phenomenal music video which underlines this striking new single.

“For me,” Mountains “sums up the ups and downs of last year perfectly, but also the hope and confidence that the band gave me. For me, the song represents the inner struggle with myself and the resulting strength, about to grow out of it.” – Lela

From the depths of their deepest crisis, VENUES emerge victoriously, welcoming two new members – clean vocalist Lela and guitarist Valentin. When former vocalist Nyves quit the band mid-tour, following the release of their pivotal debut »Aspire« (2018), the modern metal juggernaut was shaken to the bone.

Despite this, the remaining members refused to give up and tirelessly searched for new talent. Following guitarist Constantin witnessing a performance of Lela at (of all places) at a STEEL PANTHER show, the band found their new clean vocalist.

VENUES went into the studio with producer Christoph Wieczorek (Annisokay) to record »Solace«, who coated their massive sound with a metallic alloy of remarkable precision.

“We wanted to be more metal,” Robin comments.“There were some pop sensibilities of Aspire we wanted to replace with rather the opposite.”

Melody and punch-drunk heaviness, metal and alternative rock, zeitgeist and authenticity, barbed choruses and unleashed creativity: with their soaring sophomore release, VENUES fulfill every single promise they gave on »Aspire«.

VENUES are:
Lela | clean vocals
Robin | shouts
Constantin | guitar
Valentin | guitar
Dennis | drums

»Solace« tracklisting:
1. Razorblade Teeth
2. Whydah Gally
5. Into the Fire
6. Down Below
8. Our Destiny
9. Deceptive Faces
10. Mountains

FISH AND SCALE RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘YOU CAN CALL ME LOVE’ OUT NOW

FISH AND SCALE RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘YOU CAN CALL ME LOVE’ OUT NOW

FISH AND SCALE RELEASE

NEW ALBUM ‘YOU CAN CALL

ME LOVE’ OUT NOW

Musical authenticity that opens the heart – that is what distinguishes the artist Fish And Scale aka Roland Wälzlein. He loves to touch people deeply with his music and to evoke inner knowledge and wisdom in his listeners. His artistically arranged songs pay homage to life and reflect its deeper meaning. Sometimes powerful and passionate, sometimes subtle and soulful. And always a bit different, surprising and extraordinary.

Fish And Scale has a growing and dedicated fan base. He is attracting attention all over the world.

“My favorite independent folk artist.” Journalist and Emmy Award winner Michele Gillen, USA

“Rare and unique artist.” Wyatt Easterling, former A&R Manager Atlantik Records and award winning songwriter, USA

“I truly believe that music is the voice of nature. Fish And Scale is at the very epicentre of that voice.” Chas Burns, Actor, Writer, England

“People who hear his music are touched.” Lana Read, film director, USA

In France, Fish And Scale entered the iTunes singer/songwriter charts at number 15 this year. Furthermore, he provides the movie sound track for “Key Lime Voodoo” (Amazon Prime production). The music clip for the song “Dream” by Fish And Scale, created by the Spanish artist Laura Huerta, was a finalist at the Buenos Aires Music Festival.

In 2019, Fish And Scale was very successful with the “Songs from the Inner Child” from his last EP on the “Inner Child” tour through Germany and the Benelux countries.

Roland Wälzlein describes his music as Independent Folk Music with a mystical touch. It differs from conventional “folk music” in many aspects. meaningful lyrics also ensure recognition value. Typical is the intense and at the same time soulful voice, in which one can discover a slightly smoky Mick Jagger colouring. The often unusual song structure and the meaningful lyrics also ensure recognition value.  As you immerse yourself in the songs of Fish And Scale a deeper dimension of music comes into play, which roots in the mystical secret of life.

What is the story behind this exceptional music?

Growing up in Franconia (a south part of Germany), as a six-year-old child Roland survived a serious heart operation. This life and death experience stayed with him all his life. Existential questions are reflected throughout his lyrics. A turning point was his first stay in a “silent retreat”, which completely changed his understanding of life.

Ultimately, Roland sums up these experiences in his latest studio album “You can Call Me LOVE”, which will be available on all streaming portals from May 28th, 2021. “LOVE means our pure, undisguised essence,” he reveals on the album. “When we are naked and pure, free from all collective narratives, from all our expectations of how life should be and all concepts in our mind, a deeper meaning shows up that we can call LOVE. The more we dive into this dimension, the more we feel happiness, love and the joy of simplicity. We realize that we are life itself.”

In this sense, “You Can Call Me LOVE” becomes the motto of Fish And Scale’s artistic expression. The “You Can Call Me LOVE“ album contains 11 expressive songs (including 2 bonus tracks) with a synergistic effect. 11 intimate musical encounters with life that put together the message of the album piece by piece. The tracks are about the search for truth, about longing and inner conflict, about wrong decisions, reversal and arriving. An inner dialogue with archetypal figures reveals itself and leads the listener into the wondrous world of fairy tales, mystics and wisdom teachers.

Fish And Scale below

It becomes obvious that the confrontation with one’s own shadows, even with the deepest unconsciousness, already carries the path to healing within itself Surprisingly, there is sometimes only a fine line between opposite poles such as right and wrong, strength and vulnerability, confusion and clarity, accusations and forgiveness, freedom and surrender, intensity and silence. One aspect of truthfulness and being “real” is not to deny or exclude either side.

Fish And Scale’s distinctive sound mirrors this by combining different stylistic elements into a harmonious totality full of surprising changes of intensity.Roland’s voice effortlessly oscillates between rough tenderness and elemental outbursts of power. Raw, pure notes merge with gentle melodies. Dreamy soundscapes develop a wild dynamic. “You Can Call Me LOVE“ dissolves dividing lines and thus not only provides a magical sound experience, but also gets its own, authentic expression.

The theme of authenticity runs like a thread through the new album and is explicitly taken up again in the second single released “Unmask Myself”. The song describes the inner liberation from self-imposed and socially imposed role specifications that often mask our true personality core beyond recognition. The key to happiness lies in the decision for true authenticity. Only when all invisible masks, (self)-deceptions and interpersonal barriers are allowed to disappear, real intimacy becomes possible and a deeply fulfilling letting go happens. This is what “Unmask Myself” is about.

The first single released, which is called “You Can Call Me LOVE” like the album, shows us a way to deeply felt joy of life; back to our unique inner radiance and a fulfilled life in self-empowerment and fellow humanity. It is the way into our heart.

Since the release of the first two album singles, interviews and reviews about Fish And Scale have been published in many different German and international music magazines and blogs. A worldwide promotion of the “You Can Call Me LOVE” tour is currently underway and has met with a great response. The “You Can Call Me LOVE” tour can be understood as a process of consciousness-raising that takes place inside each listener. The aim is to strengthen one’s own heart intelligence and to come closer to oneself again. The songs on the album describe the different steps of this inner musical journey.

When external circumstances allow it again, the “You Can Call Me LOVE” tour will be continued as a live tour.

With his outstanding musical potential, his open-hearted, amiable way of inspiring people and a lot of contagious soulfulness Fish And Scale is now well on the way to making it big internationally.

AMBULANCE RELEASE

SECOND SINGLE ‘5AM’

Last year, old friends Fraser (guitar/vocals) and Amelia (drums/vocals) reconnected after losing touch for many years. When lockdown hit, they began collaborating as a creative and cathartic outlet. Their musical partnership quickly developed into something bigger, writing 70 songs by June 2020. On Amelia’s return to Scotland, after eight months of writing together via video call, they finally had the opportunity to jam live and decided to form Midnight Ambulance.

In February 2021, they released their debut single ‘Black Gloves’ which quickly gained the attention of national media, including a BBC Scotland Introducing premiere, BBC Alba Single of the Week and The Scotsman on Sunday Artist of the Week, with 15+ national radio plays in the first fortnight from BBC Radio Scotland (Vic Galloway & BBC Introducing), BBC Alba (Rapal), Amazing Radio (Jim Gelletly & Charlie Ashcroft), and 70+ playlist features including Creative Scotland, Fathersunday (Fatherson) and Charlie Ashcroft’s Fresh Finds.

Midnight Ambulance below

“The debut single by Midnight Ambulance, Black Gloves is a brilliant first step. Ominous, looming and with a real sense of menace, the duo conjure a unique atmosphere with Amelia’s heartfelt vocal and pounding drums front and centre, elegantly accompanied by Fraser’s playing and production. This is a serious opening salvo and promises greatness in whatever they do next. As a listener, I am excited and slightly scared!!” Vic Galloway, BBC Radio Scotland.

“Amelia’s voice is sort of angelic which kind of doesn’t go with the darker music but in a really good way, it really works. Definitely going to keep an eye on these guys.” Shereen Cutty, BBC Introducing.

“Amelia’s angelic vocals delivered against a dark, enveloping instrumental, one driven by throbbing guitars and unconventional rhythm patterns. Inspired by lockdown and its effect on their personal relationships, it’s a hypnotic listen and a mesmerising debut.” (Tenement TV)

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘FIREBIRD’ SET FOR RELEASE SEPTEMBER 24

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM ‘FIREBIRD’ SET FOR RELEASE SEPTEMBER 24

NATALIE IMBRUGLIA

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM

‘FIREBIRD’ SET FOR

RELEASE SEPTEMBER 24

Today, Natalie Imbruglia has announced her forthcoming new album, Firebird, set for release on September 24 via BMG. Alongside the announcement, Natalie has shared the first single taken from the album, the instantly catchy ‘Build It Better’, accompanied by the single’s official video (out tonight here) bringing a touch of La La Land to Nell’s Cafe.

New album Firebird was written in an array of international locations alongside Albert Hammond Jr of The Strokes, Romeo Stodart of The Magic Numbers, KT Tunstall, Eg White (Adele, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith), Luke Fitton (Little Mix, Girls Aloud), Fiona Bevan (One Direction, Ed Sheeran), Rachel Furner (Little Mix, Jason Derulo, Craig David) and more, touching on themes of independence, vulnerability, the juxtaposition of strength and fragility, revealing Natalie’s newfound sense of confidence.

In contrast, the album was almost entirely recorded in lockdown, produced remotely by Natalie and My Riot with additional production from Albert Hammond Jr, Gus Oberg (The Strokes, Albert Hammond Jnr) and Romeo Stodart (Magic Numbers).

Discussing the album, Natalie says “Making this album has been such a profound and satisfying experience.  Having gone through a long period of what essentially was writer’s block, it was sometimes hard to envisage getting to this place.  Before the pandemic, I started the process of writing this album in London and soon after, I headed to Nashville. With each session and new collaborator, I started to gain confidence, find my voice again, and craft the sound and style that felt authentic to me.  It’s been such a privilege to work with such an array of talent on Firebird.  I just can’t wait for people to finally hear it.”

New single ‘Build It Better’ is the first to be lifted from the forthcoming Firebird. Though unintentional, it could be about a world recovering from a pandemic. Natalie describes the single as “surrendering to the chaos and seeing what’s on the other side of it is a good life lesson. Letting something fall apart, and being okay with that, is something that I have had to do in my life, numerous times, but especially moving into this record and becoming a mum. So, I’m really excited about that song, and about the video, which is total escapist fun – the world needs that right now.”

Firebird will be available on CD (Standard & Deluxe) limited signed CD (Standard & Deluxe), limited blue Vinyl and Digitally via BMG on September 24.

MELBOURNE BAND MANTELL TEAM UP WITH STELLA DUNAI ON ETHEREAL SINGLE ‘DEAR MIA’ OUT NOW

MELBOURNE BAND MANTELL

TEAM UP WITH STELLA DUNAI

ON ETHEREAL SINGLE

‘DEAR MIA’ OUT NOW

Off the back of the successful release of their last EP, Mantell returns with a mesmerising new single teaming up with Melbourne based singer, Stella Dunai of Empress.

Honest and vulnerable, Mantell showcase the evolution of their songwriting with latest single ‘Dear Mia’, an earnest description of a fragmented relationship “Oh the friendships, I miss the friendships and the fights”. Recorded at the band’s own studio – West End Recordings, Mantell enlisted the mesmerising voice of Stella Dunai to help create their powerful new single.

‘Dear Mia’ is a retrospective look into a fragmented relationship and the piecing together of the broken pieces. Mantell explores the regrets and self-reflection one has when they question where and how everything went wrong “How can I trust what you said when everything you’ve done gone to waste”. Their new single sees Mantell adapt a stripped-back composition while expertly building a cinematic and emotive journey.

June will see Mantell performing shows for the first time since heavy lockdown laws. Celebrating the release of ‘DearmMia’ alongside some of each city’s finest local talent. An unmissable opportunity to see one of Melbourne’s most promising new names thriving.
