MELBOURNE ART-PUNK DUO NOCON RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘HOAX’ OUT NOW

MELBOURNE ART-PUNK

DUO NOCON RELEASE NEW

SINGLE ‘HOAX’ OUT NOW

NOCON, the brand new art-punk project of Melbourne’s Jamie Timony (MOSSY/These New South Whales) and Jake O’Brien, share new single ‘HOAX’ following its debut on triple j this weekt.

Out now on Dinosaur City Records, ‘HOAX’ is NOCON’s second single and follows the release of skuzzy punk track ‘AGAG’ (April 2020), which turned heads at triple j, double j, NME, Weirdo Wasteland, Tone Deaf, 2SER and Triple R among others, and landed rotation on FBi Radio and Edge FM.

Listen/download ‘HOAX’ HERE.

Written, recorded and produced remotely by Jamie and Jake during a winter in isolation and mixed by Dean Tuza, ‘HOAX’ sticks to the parameters established with ‘AGAG’ with bendy guitars and driving bass, while leaning further into the band’s influences from trap, emo and cloud rap.

‘HOAX’ features Jamie and Jake on alternating vocal duties with the addition of guitar, bass, an 808 and crumby samples. The idea for the song is best summarised by the key image called to mind by the monotonously delivered chorus lyrics: “That was just a hoax / That was just two kids stacked up high in a trench coat / Moustache / Trying to buy some smokes”.

The band explain the track: “‘HOAX’ is about being spoon-fed fallacies your entire life from every angle imaginable—being lied to, misled and manipulated into a trance.”

‘HOAX’ is out now via Dinosaur City Records. NOCON ‘HOAX’ Single Artwork Below

INTRODUCING MAPLE GLIDER DEBUT RELEASE ‘AS TRADITION’ OUT NOW

INTRODUCING MAPLE GLIDER DEBUT RELEASE ‘AS TRADITION’ OUT NOW

INTRODUCING

MAPLE GLIDER DEBUT

RELEASE ‘AS TRADITION’

OUT NOW

Maple Glider is the new project of singer-songwriter Tori Zietsch. The first we get to hear from this new artist is the single ‘As Tradition’. It’s a song about yielding to expectations – not willingly, but with knowledge of the inevitable; and about being seen but not heard. Listen HERE. / Watch below

As Maple Glider explains: “I was raised from birth in quite a restrictive religious household. When I moved away from Australia and left the supportive community I have at home here in Melbourne, I realised that I hadn’t really processed a lot of the ways that I’d been affected by it. Going through my last break-up I could draw a lot of parallels between the feelings I’d had participating in the religion as I’d had in that particular relationship. I felt my identity kind of dissolve in order to appease what my partner at the time needed from me, and in a way, I began performing for the idea of love and acceptance instead of trusting my intuition. There was definitely a strong element of gaslighting in both situations and I guess writing the song was a way of coming to that understanding and forming a resolution to grow from those experiences.”

The song is accompanied by a video Maple Glider made with her housemate Bridgette Winten. Shot on Super 8 at home, it shows Zietsch setting up for a party alone – complete with costume changes and balloons.

Hailing from Lismore as a child and Brisbane after school, Zietsch relocated to Melbourne to be ensconced in the music community. Partnering up with co-expat childhood friend, producer Daniel Pinkerton, the duo formed Seavera, pairing acoustic guitars and wonky uprights with dramatic electronics. In late 2017 Seavera won the very first Pie School initiative – demos were sent in and the winner worked with the team from Pieater on recording a song and receiving business advice. However, the song that was recorded was never released. Instead, Seavera parted ways soon after releasing an EP, with Zietsch moving to the musical seaside town of Brighton, U.K. It was there she began to work on solo material…

After experiencing falling in and out of love, traveling extensively, writing non-stop, and basking in the lengthy European summer hours, she returned to Melbourne late 2019 with a SoundCloud account full to capacity of demo uploads. Maple Glider was officially set to take flight.

Having loved the experience of recording with Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads, No Mono) back during Pie School, Ziestch enlisted him to produce and record some of the many, many songs she was ready to get down. During the shared time spent at Pieater’s studio ‘BellBird’ with Iansek, the wider team got to fully appreciate the wonderful artistry and beauty of Maple Glider and welcomed her to the family. The first taste of these sessions comes in the form of debut single ‘As Tradition’.

‘As Tradition’ by Maple Glider is out now, buy/stream it here.

SHEMAIAH JAMES

FLEXES & HUSTLES

WITH ‘DOUGH’ OUT NOW!

Like a resilient mountain that bows to no wind, nothing seems to break the spirit of Brisbane-based artist Shemaiah James in the midst of this pandemic, as he drops his newest single ‘Dough’, now available on all streaming platforms.

This gritty motivational track written by Shemaiah himself—with production by UK producer Hozeiiii, mixing and mastering by Brookfield athlete-musician .Ron—is a modest flex of the hustle this emerging artist has done to break through onto the hip hop scene. This groove-filled track tells the story of how Shemaiah endures the daily grind to “shape his own future”, until the rewarding precipice of his hard work is reached. ‘Dough’ may just be the newest anthem for all the hustlers out there, reminding them to keep on going!

Shemaiah James below

“Make your dreams a reality, don’t be passive and go out and make something happen. Keep moving forward. Turn every loss into a lesson learned.”—Shemaiah James

Shemaiah already started writing songs as early as eight years old. Since then, he has been making music that “adds value to someone’s life”. Like the subtle nudge and cheer that ‘Dough’ gives off to its listeners, Shemaiah makes it a point to create music that will motivate others.

Among others, he is influenced by the nuanced storytelling style that American rapper J.Cole incorporates in his music, as well as the versatility of Canadian rapper Drake throughout his career. Sonically, Shemaiah takes great inspiration from the sound of Joyner Lucas.

In 2017, Shemaiah performed as a support act for Brisbane Hip Hop Artist IIIConic at WOOLLY Mammoth, while his music was previewed in a 4ZZZ interview. Since then, he has been building up his sound so he can connect more to his growing fanbase.

Shemaiah will be performing at the Flamin Galah on November 15th, as a support act for Brisbane Hip Hop Artist Amity. He is definitely up to the challenge of chasing one glory to another, so make sure to follow his socials down below for more updates on his upcoming releases and shows!

NAPALM DEATH THROES OF JOY IN THE JAWS OF DEFEATISM OUT NOW

NAPALM DEATH THROES OF JOY IN THE JAWS OF DEFEATISM OUT NOW

NAPALM DEATH THROES

OF JOY IN THE JAWS OF

DEFEATISM OUT NOW

Even after exerting an indelible influence on the entire world of heavy music for more than 30 years, there is still no band on Earth that sounds like Napalm Death. Not just the undisputed Gods of Grind, but an enduring benchmark for invention and fearlessness in heavy and experimental music of all kinds, the Birmingham legends are still hurtling forward at full pelt.

Although the name Napalm Death has existed since 1981, as the band’s first line-up plundered the post- and anarcho-punk scenes for inspiration, it was 1987’s seminal Scum album that would ensure their place in the grand pantheon of heaviness. A visceral dismantling of conventions, it effectively kick-started the entire grindcore scene, gaining Napalm Death something approaching household name status for their insane speeds, animalistic screams and uncompromising political stance. From that moment, the band became synonymous with both proudly-held ethical principles and the relentless pursuit of new ways to terrorise people with riffs and noise.

Napalm Death below

By the early ‘90s, Napalm Death had coalesced around a steady line-up of vocalist Barney Greenway, bassist Shane Embury, drummer Danny Herrera and guitarists Mitch Harris and Jesse Pintado. Renowned for both unrelenting tour schedules and a steady stream of consistently well-received albums, they have powered forward ever since, weathering transient trends, media indifference and industry skullduggery along the way. Despite the sad passing of Pintado in 2006, the 21st century has seen Napalm Death continue to refine and redefine their still epoch-wrecking sound, with instant classic albums like Smear Campaign (2006) and Utilitarian (2012) adding further flesh to the bones of this ongoing legend. While many veteran bands are content to repeat themselves or to wallow in nostalgia, these noise-hungry stalwarts seem to have gained fresh impetus and momentum in recent times, as showcased on 2015’s Apex Predator – Easy Meat: a self-evident creative high point for all involved, it received some of the most ecstatic reviews in Napalm history, while further cementing the band’s reputation for ferocious originality.

Watch ‘A Bellyful Of Salt And Spleen’ below

“One thing I’ve learned over the years is what you don’t do to Napalm Death is round the edges off,” says Greenway. “You don’t stop playing fast as fuck. You just don’t do it. But what we do better now is amalgamate all the different things, so there’s metal and punk and hardcore, but also the alternative stuff. We take from all kinds of bands that nobody would even guess! Then there’s the obvious stuff like Coil, Swans and Einstürzende Neubaten, that’s all chucked in and amalgamated too.”

Five years on from Apex Predator – Easy Meat, Napalm Death have somehow pieced together an even more brutal and mind-expanding explosion of righteous noise. Once again recorded in collaboration with esteemed studio guru Russ Russell, Throes Of Joy In The Jaws Of Defeatism is the band’s 16th studio album and it’s very obviously another skull-shattering high point in a vast and varied catalogue.

NAPALM DEATH line-up:
Shane Embury – Bass reverberations, barks and moans, noise-testing everyday objects
Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway – Bawling, shrieking, intermittent baritone
Danny Herrera – Turbulent beat throes

WE SET SIGNALS RELEASE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘AURORA’ FROM NEW ALBUM ‘ORDO’

WE SET SIGNALS RELEASE

NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘AURORA’

FROM NEW ALBUM ‘ORDO’

We Set Signals are on the cusp of releasing their new full-length album ‘Ordo’ next Friday, September 25, through We Are Triumphant – and as such, are offering one last extra sneak peek into the sights and sounds of the record with a new single and video – ‘Aurora’!

Vocalist Nick Wilkinson says of the new track – “Aurora refers to what I consider to have been the darkest time in my life where I battled depression and addiction after losing my Father to cancer. I became reckless and dissociative and started pushing everyone in my life away. I turned to drugs and alcohol to numb my world and before I knew it I couldn’t stop. I felt like my world was burning down around me, and I couldn’t do anything to put it out.

The new track drops today, Friday September 18 on all digital stores and streaming platforms – and they have this new scenic and passionate film clip for the track, probably the most hard-edged song on the record.

Though the album isn’t released yet, it’s already garnering praise – with Hysteria Mag giving it 8/10 and saying “Ordo is a wall-to-wall high-energy hardcore record and an enjoyable listen to end. A classic post-hardcore record in the vein of bands like A Day To Remember in their early days, the brissy boys have done Australia proud with Ordo.” and Wall of Sound reporting that the album tracks are full of “high energy rock riffs, catchy melodies and post-chorus bridges that are hard not to get into…

For those who came in late to We Set Signals, the band signed to US label We Are Triumphant in 2017 – with abundant results – all of their previous singles from two prior EP’s were editorially playlisted on Spotify and Apple Music – with over 5 million streams alone on their last split EP.

We Set Signals’ new album, ORDO will be released on Friday September 25th through We Are Triumphant worldwide – and can be pre-ordered at https://orcd.co/ordo. New single ‘Aurora’ is out now in stores and streaming platforms.

Sydney hip hop artist Lanstan debuts new single, ‘Trophy’

Sydney hip hop artist Lanstan debuts new single, ‘Trophy’

SYDNEY HIP HOP ARTIST LANSTAN DEBUTS NEW SINGLE, ‘Trophy’

At only 21 years of age, Sydney’s Lanstan is consistently pushing himself toward wider praise as he weaves a wide range of hip-hop influences with introspective and self-aware songwriting. Today, he unveils his latest project, the bold and ambitious ‘Trophy’.

Following on from ‘Blueprint’ earlier this year, Lanstan has kept the same energy when it comes to his new single: he is an artist who knows what he wants and he’s undeterred when it comes to his strive for success.

Making his debut back in 2017 with viral hit ‘Garn Servo’, Lanstan moved quickly to keep the momentum growing, fleshing out his body of work into 2019 with the release of ‘Dream State’ (produced by Kuren) and ‘Go To  Sleep’. While the vibe of each song differs, what remains the same is Lanstan’s dynamism and enthusiasm for the craft.

And it’s the same with ‘Trophy’. “I usually begin writing any song with one standalone melody. I feel like within any instrumental there is only one perfect melody and my first task is always to find it. Once I’ve found it, the rest of the song seems to build itself naturally around it. With ‘Trophy’ I heard the melody instantly and sang it out loud during my first listen of the beat. The entrancingly rhythmic flute and guitars seemed to tell a story of pain and struggle, but at the same time felt victorious.” Lanstan

Throughout his burgeoning career, Lanstan has been open about his journey in exploring different sounds and establishing an identity on track that sets him apart. With ‘Trophy’, he’s introducing himself to newcomers and showing his longtime fans the type of artist he’s flourishing into as 2020 rolls on out.

PRAISE FOR LANSTAN

“Hailing from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, 21 year old Lanstan is one of Australian hip-hop’s brightest up and comers.”

Good Call Live

“The melodies in this are hard to deny, it feels bold without being too egotistical…”

Triple J, Declan Byrne (‘Blueprint’, 2020)

“Lanstan has continued to build his brand and loyal following through conceptually immersive projects.”

‘NO GOOD LEFT TO GIVE’

OUT NOW

Movements are releasing their second album ‘No Good Left To Give 18 via Fearless Records/Caroline Australia, out now

Tune in for a stripped down, livestream performance on Twitch tomorrow morning at 11am AEST. There will be a Q+A, giveaways, and more. Go here to watch.

The Southern California quartet — Patrick Miranda (vocals), Ira George (guitar), Spencer York(drums), and Austin Cressey (bass) previously shared the visually stunning animated video for the first single “Don’t Give Up Your Ghost“. They followed with the video for “Skin to Skin” and a lyric video for “Tunnel Vision

Miranda elaborates on the vibe that permeates ‘No Good Left To Give’, saying, “At its core, the new record is what we’ve always been, which is emotional, real, and honest music. We all know each other very well and understand our respective styles. We’re discussing mental health, struggles with relationships, and relatable things from our lives. At the same time, it’s a little darker.”

Cressey echoes that sentiment, sharing, “The mood is a little heavier, for sure… We didn’t try to emulate anyone. It’s very pure.”

The album has already received a number of rave reviews:

“An emotional effort and a terrific second full-length, No Good Left To Give fits neatly into Movement’s catalogue as a fine addition to the band’s ever growing and ever improving passionate and atmospheric alternative rock sound.
Hysteria Mag 9/10

“Movements have completely outdone themselves with this album. No Good Left To Give is an incontestable masterpiece. And so, I’ll finish this review up with 4 final words. ALBUM. OF. THE. YEAR.”
Wall Of Sound 10/10

An honest and severe deep-dive into intimacy and mental illness, No Good Left To Give takes bold and courageous steps to ensure that Movements continue to remain a band like no other.
Depth Magazine 9/10

Hauntingly relatable, the personable themes of intimacy and the conversational mental health concepts behind ‘No Good Left To Give’ are expressed in a multitude of poetic, beautiful ways. Tragically, there’s a little piece of us all in Movements latest.
KillYourStereo 80/100

Movements formed in 2015. Following the 2016 EP ‘Outgrown Things‘, the group cemented a singular sound on their 2017 full-length debut, ‘Feel Something‘. Eclipsing 40 million total streams by 2020, it immediately connected by way of “Daylilly” (11.1 million Spotify streams), “Full Circle” (6.1 million Spotify streams), and “Colorblind” (5.5 million Spotify streams). Along the way, the four-piece received acclaim from Brooklyn Vegan, AXS, Rock Sound, Culture Collide, and more.

During 2019, Movements entered the studio with longtime producer and frequent collaborator Will Yip (Violent Soho, Panic! At The Disco, Turnover) to record ‘No Good Left To Give’. Movements spent the most time they ever had in the studio, which resulted in the most collaborative effort to date with Yip, adding another dimension to their music.

DRO CAREY RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM NOTHING IS A SOLO PROJECT

DRO CAREY RELEASES DEBUT ALBUM NOTHING IS A SOLO PROJECT

DRO CAREY RELEASES

DEBUT ALBUM NOTHING

IS A SOLO PROJECT FEATURING

NEW SINGLE ‘BOUNDARY

(FEAT. ZELLOW)’

Soothsayer presents the debut album, Nothing Is A Solo Project, from Sydney producer Dro Carey (real name Eugene Ward), with a spotlight on his latest offering ‘Boundary (feat. Zellow)’.

Produced by Dro Carey himself and mixed by Seekae’s George Nicholas (Willaris. K, Juno Mamba, Cosmo’s Midnight), Nothing Is A Solo Project looks to the vocal house production of the 2018 standalone single ‘Glow Now’ to build an album that’s part introspective instrumental and part melodic-driven collaboration with a group of talented artists that lend contrasting, unique moments that coalesce into an impressive whole. Fascinated by the endless opportunities working with new minds can create, Ward gave each of his demos a title as a conceptual starting point, but then gave the artists free reign.

For the first single, ‘Act Like You’re Home (feat. Beni Moun & Julietta)’, which premiered via Clash Mag (UK), Ward contacted Florida-based Moun for his vocal and songwriting chops, but wound up trusting his talent so much that he gave him access to the musical stems to restructure and evolve the song as co-producer. The song then took on another life when Ward hit up California-based singer Julietta – whom he discovered on Spotify – for a breakout verse, resulting in a euphoric house-drenched track. Ward bookended this bold release with the textured and moody instrumental ‘Hemisphere’, a strategic move he went on to repeat with each double release, showcasing his ability to create club-ready and introspective moments which sit in striking contrast on his first studio album.

The flurry of strong singles that followed feature a plethora of incredible artists from around the globe. The silky neo-soul offering ‘Clear To You’ features Melbourne artist Francesca Gonzales and premiered on Dummy Mag (UK) before being added to Double J and FBi radio, the acid house and UK garage hybrid ‘Another Knot’ features celebrated London poet and singer RUE and was premiered on triple j, and the Dancehall-inspired hit ‘Hold A Vibe’ features the widely respected Jamaican artist Alexx A-Game arriving with a captivating visualiser that debuted on Purple Sneakers.

With the release of Nothing Is A Solo Project, the focus is turned to another collaborative standout from the album – ‘Boundary (feat. Zellow)’. ‘Boundary’ is a butter-smooth house track that features the sultry, sweeping vocals of 21-year-old Melbourne artist Zellow, over Ward’s masterful production.

LISTEN: ‘Boundary (feat. Zellow)’

Speaking on the creation for ‘Boundary’, Dro Carey says:

“‘Boundary’ was a really early demo created in the process of the album and it was always seen as an important downtempo anchorpoint and point of reprieve in the sequence of songs. Zellow wrote and tracked her parts super quickly and after my first parse at a mix, the song was dormant for some time, and then, after that long period of time working on the rest of the album, I returned to this one to update it in some ways to match up with some of the stylistic things that had been established, including adding the affected sampled vocal parts, as there was now a stronger stylistic palette and guide for how that sort of processing could be done. I’m definitely quite proud of this track as it balances some very odd things in the arrangement, like the jittery and over-complex drum interactions, while working within a pop framework.”

Nothing Is A Solo Project has seen global praise from Resident Advisor, Clash Mag, Dummy Mag, Form Mag and Pilerats, Acid Stag and Purple Sneakers locally. The singles’ diverse moods and genres have led to playlisting support at various streaming platforms, including claiming the coveted cover of Spotify’s Top Shelf Electronic and seeing the album featured on Bandcamp’s New & Notable section, and following strong radio support over the past months – including a triple j Friday Mix and an interview and premiere on Triple R this past Monday – today, Dro Carey will take over FBi’s airwaves for their Friday Midday Mix.

In the lead up to the release of Nothing Is A Solo Project, Dro Carey launched a ‘Captured Sounds’ initiative – an experiment in creative collaboration. The initiative asked fans to submit field recordings of unusual sounds they encounter in their day-to-day life for Ward to manipulate into samples and transform into an entirely new track. This process allowed Ward the opportunity to engage with his fans in a new and exciting way and with submissions now closed, we can’t wait to hear the result!

A long time in the making, Nothing Is A Solo Project is the kind of debut album that feels like it couldn’t possibly be a first release. Packed with a profusion of textured sounds and masterful beats, the album takes you on a visceral journey, and Soothsayer could not be more excited for listeners to take that first step…

Ivy League Records is elated to release A. Swayze & the Ghosts’ wildly anticipated debut album Paid Salvation – a refreshingly real breath of fresh air, one that restores your faith in the incendiary, uplifting and subversive power of punk rock. To coincide with the release, the band have dropped the video for their gloriously punchy new single ‘Evil Eyes’ and, much to the delight of Tassie fans (and the envy of fans elsewhere) today announced three headline COVID-safe shows across Hobart (Oct 17), Launceston (Oct 31) and Devonport (Nov 7).

Charging in at a total length of 1:58, frontman Andrew Swayze says of ‘Evil Eyes’: “This was brought to us by Hendrik one night in our studio as a short fun song he’d written years before. I read into it as a weird homage to the delusions of mental illness so I re-worked them and added the ‘psycho passion’ section”.

On the band’s blistering debut record Paid Salvation – recorded in Northcote with producer Dean Tuza (These New South Whales, Stella Donnelly) – Swayze pulls no punches, using the group’s urgent and tightly wound music as a backdrop against which he can purge himself of the myriad frustrations he has with the world around him. Taking aim at social media (‘Connect to Consume’), ecocide (‘Beaches’), tall poppy syndrome (‘Rich’), mob-rule and herd mentality (‘Marigold’), it seems little escapes his ire, even God and the Bible get a good lashing. It’s safe to say we’re not in standard garage punk territory.

On first listen, it would be easy to take the album on face value, enjoying it purely for its many musical pleasures: energetic guitar interplay, pummeling rhythms, basslines that groove and an infectious shout-along melodic sensibility that runs throughout. But that’s the real power of Paid Salvation. While it’s a hell of a lot of fun, it’s also deadly serious.

“It really shits me off when bands have this pedestal and they have the ability to influence so much around them and they waste it by singing about stupid shit. If you’re given this audience, I think you have to have something to say. And I definitely intend on abusing that right.”  Swayze says

“I want people to go, ‘I love that song it makes me dance but I also appreciate the honesty. I want the melodies and the instrumentals to be accessible for people from all sorts of backgrounds, but I also want everyone to fucking listen to what I’m saying as well. And I especially want young men to hear songs like ‘Suddenly’ and ‘It’s Not Alright’ and think about what they’re saying rather than just listening to them and going, ‘Yeah I’m all jacked up on this rock song!’ he laughs. With AS&TG, the music is the sugar that makes the medicine easier to swallow.

Over the last two years A.Swayze & the Ghosts have performed at Falls Festival, Splendour in the Grass, The Great Escape, BIGSOUND (in many ‘best of’ lists across STACK, triple j, Double J, The Music), A Festival Called Panama and Boogie Festival. As well as shows alongside Shame, Total Control, Nude Party, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, West Thebarton, Jet, The Vines, Batpiss & The Stems to name a few. The band have been championed overseas by BBC 6 Music, Beats 1, KEXP, CLASH, NME, Brooklyn Vegan & more, whilst on home soil, supported by community radio, triple j, Double J, TheMusic, Blunt Magazine & more.

‘MOMENT IN THE SUN’

Sunflower Bean return with their first new material of 2020, ‘Moment In The Sun’. Written about realising what’s most important in life is spending time with the ones you love, ‘Moment In The Sun’ resonates now more than ever.

“‘Moment In The Sun’ is about finally recognizing what is important in one’s life, the people you decide to spend it with,” Sunflower Bean explains of the track. “All of these things we distract ourselves with, the neverending mountain of career climbing, the pursuit of financial success, and the hope that after all that trying you could finally be cool. All of that is meaningless in comparison to one great day, hour, or moment with someone you really love.”

‘Moment In The Sun’ premiered overnight as Hottest Record In The World with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. Produced by Dave Bassett (Vance Joy, Bishop Briggs) and Jacob Portrait (of Unknown Mortal Orchestra), the song comes with a video made with VMA-nominated directors Andy DeLuca and Sarah Eisman.

The band further explains of the video, “while quarantining together upstate this summer we decided to make a music video for ‘Moment In The Sun.’ We thought the best way to visually represent the meaning of the song, while also taking inspiration from this isolating time everyone has been forced to live in, was to create two separate worlds. One world which exists totally inside a home, mostly in a lonely bedroom. The other world exists completely outside in the sun and is made up of memories of a summer love. We invited Marquis Rodriguez (When They See Us), to co-star in the video, and he was crucial in helping us tell the story of summer love and show those potent memories of tenderness coming to life. While living alone, the character Julia is portraying becomes flooded with memories and moments from the past summer, and as a result her bedroom starts to transform into the outdoor world. We built up the entire bedroom using real sod and flowers. Her memories are brought to life, just like the room.”

New York trio Sunflower Bean (Julia Cumming, Nick Kivlen, Jacob Faber), released their sophomore album Twentytwo In Blue in 2018, and quickly followed it with 2019’s King Of The Dudes EP. Since then, the band open for Bernie Sanders and The Strokes, have toured with Wolf Alice, Courtney Barnett, and more, while playing countless festivals around the world.

Australian producer Torren Foot today drops the vocal version of his mighty single ‘More Life’ featuring Tinie and L Devine. Unveiled alongside a Meji Alabi-directed video, ‘More Life’ sees the two UK stars come together for a surefire summer hit. Speaking on the record, Torren Foot said –

“It’s still wild to me seeing Tinie & L Devine on a record that I produced, but 2020 is a crazy year, right?!! To have the opportunity to release a track with these two amazing artists is truly humbling.”

L Devine added –

“I’ve been working with Tinie on a bunch of songs over the past few years so I’m so glad we could finally come together with Torren Foot and release something. It feels so good to step into a world of music I’ve never touched before. I’m a huge fan and listener of house music so it’s sick to be able to show some love to it on this record.”

The original version has already racked up over 6 million streams to date and was the #1 most played song on triple j. One of Mistajam’s Future Anthems; the single has had props by the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Joel Corry and has already been added to both the KISS Fresh and KISS Dance playlists.

UK SINGER-SONGWRITER TOM GREGORY DELIVERS STUNNING DEBUT ALBUM ‘HEAVEN IN A WORLD SO COLD’

UK SINGER-SONGWRITER

TOM GREGORY DELIVERS

STUNNING DEBUT ALBUM

‘HEAVEN IN A WORLD SO COLD’

UK singer-songwriter Tom Gregory released his debut single ‘Run To You’ in late 2017 and racked up 25 million streams, #26 in the airplay charts, scoring one of the biggest radio hits of 2018. The following singles ‘Losing Sleep’, ‘Honest’, and ‘Small Steps’ (#3 in the airplay charts) showed just how many strings the young Brit has to his bow. ‘Fingertips’ took things to the next level, all the way to the top of the German airplay charts in fact. In December 2019 Tom Gregorypicked up the prestigious Audi Generation Award in the international music category, a clear indication that the big breakthrough was imminent. Fast-forward to April 2020 and Tom’s collaborative effort with DJ/producer duo VIZE sealed the deal… their ‘Never Let Me Down’ single was a top 10 hit and has amassed over 100 million streams to date. Tom Gregory has definitely arrived.

Tom Gregory releases his long-awaited debut album Heaven In A World So Cold. Organic, urban, deeply expressive, this is no mere collection of sketches, it is a truly authentic, honest body of work, drawn from deep within A record comprising 12 songs and one bonus track, telling stories of Tom’s life. Stories about the  real life relationships he has experienced. His love for his guitar (‘Fingertips’), the fear of growing old. “I was going through a period in my early 20s where I was really scared about the idea of getting old and having responsibilities. I really wanted to put that idea into a song, how actually growing up can really suck sometimes! I’ve now happily embraced that I’m getting older though ..!” (‘Grow Up’)

‘By Your Side’ tells us what it was like for Tom growing up in Blackpool. “I grew up in a really small town on the northern coast of England, and this track really pays tribute to how I grew up, met my first love there, and went through the roller coaster of emotions that comes with being a teen. It’s actually one of the first songs that I wrote for this album and one I’m really proud of!”

On Sink Or Swim’ Tom opens up about the darkest chapter of his young life. “This track I think is probably the most honest on the whole album. I went through a really tough break-up at the start of 2020, which left me very lost and confused. Someone leaving you behind can be one of the most painful things you ever experience! This song pretty much wrote itself.”

His talent goes beyond his inimitable voice – it is also evident in his ability to ensnare his listeners‘ full attention in the shortest span of time.

Born and raised in the north of England with his two siblings, Tom Gregory’s home town of Blackpool has a certain faded seaside glamour. But his musical home is Germany. Not unlike that band who came to Hamburg exactly 60 years ago to launch their global careers. In this regard, Tom is following in the footsteps of the musical legends we know as The Beatles. He’s setting his sights high. “I was always afraid of doing a job I hate. I was never worried about failing.”

The young Brit refuses to be pigeon-holed. Bland pop means nothing to him, it lacks the soul which is so important to him – the soul his voice seeks out and touches in his audience. He learned what matters at an early age: “I listened to lots of guitar music and my Dad was a big inspiration, he introduced me to the likes of Kool & The Gang and James Taylor. Modern music wasn’t my thing, I preferred artists like them whereas my mates were all into Eminem.”

Tom is real. What you see, is what you get. What counts is the music. A feeling that sadly goes missing far too often these days. Failure doesn’t even occur to him, he’s pursuing his vision. Honestly, authentically, without the frippery of  glamour.

The album release will be accompanied by a new single, ‘What Love Is’. “I really wanted to capture a classic love song and strip everything back. I actually think this turned out to be one of the most beautiful on the record. It was a really nice change for me to strip everything back and take away a lot of the big productions that run through the whole album.”
