Australian pop outfit Glades today share their latest pop anthem “Blonde” the follow up to “Vertigo” and the second taste from the trio’s forthcoming new album ‘Planetarium’ out later this year. Premiered earlier in the week on triple j Good Nights, “Blonde” is available now HERE.
“Blonde is about helping a friend through a breakup. Sometimes you have to allow yourself to feel the full extent of your emotions to get through something. The song’s about being carefree and allowing yourself to do crazy shit to get over somebody” Joey notes.

On “Blonde”, Glades continue the party, encouraging a freshly single friend to make drastic changes. “Crash your car and have a little more fun,” sings Savage with hyperbole, the track marks an exciting new step for a band that has already carved out an individual space in the Australian pop landscape.
Since the release of the debut album ‘To Love You’ in 2018, the Glades trio – consisting of vocalist Karina Savage (previously Wykes) and multi-instrumentalists/producers Joey Wenceslao and Cam Robertson – have spent the formative years of their adolescence releasing music.
Originally meeting at a Sydney high school and officially forming the band in 2015, their debut track “Falling Away” caught the attention of the internet, before their 2016 track “Drive” put them firmly on the map.
Their 2018 debut album ‘To Love You’ took the band to the next level, propelled by a string of successful singles, including “Not About You” and “Eyes Wide Shut” which nabbed the #1 most played slot on triple j , while global breakthrough “Do Right” went on to become ARIA certified Gold. Meanwhile, the album took them on sold-out tours both in Australia and internationally while also supporting the likes of Rita Ora, Anne-Marie, LANY and Clean Bandit. Their total stream count has since sailed past the 200 million mark.
Rapper, artist, director, culture shaker and innovative ingenue Aminé announces his long-waited carefully curated and recorded sophmore-ish full-length studio album “Limbo” arriving on August 7th [via Republic Records — PRE-SAVE HERE] side by side with the release of “Compensating” ft. Young Thug out now — LISTEN HERE!
Aminé continues on his promise to change perceptions and defy expectations. First paying homage to his past on “Shimmy,” declaring 2020 as his with a co-directed Portland love letter [WATCH HERE] which locked the gamut of fanfare and 20 Million global streams! Continuing to expand his influence, 5x platinum certified artist [for breakout-smash “Caroline”] appeared on HBO’s Insecure this season and locked writer/comedian Jak Knight from ABC’s Black-ish fame for a closing skit on another album track “RiRi” which arrived last week alongside a co-directed visual filmed in quarantine with a Taylor Rooks cameo among others, made with long-time video collaborator Jack Begert (“Shimmy,” “Reel It In,” “Blackjack”) — WATCH HERE!
Artists who move culture forward create their own. Aminé does just that for Portland’s music scene, hip-hop and the culture at large — buoyed by the stats, “amiable, inventive… idiosyncratic…most intriguing” titles from an early NY Times cosign, surrounding debut LP “Good For You” and forward.
Following the success of their first album single ‘Underpaid Machinery’, Melbourne-based metal powerhouse FIGURES have dropped ‘Someone Uninvited’, the second video/single drawn from their forthcoming debut album ‘Operating In Unsafe Mode’ – which is available for pre-order now at http://figuresband.com/. ‘Someone Uninvited’ is out now.
With the new album dropping on 17th July, Figures have caught the attention of Daniel P Carter and the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, as well as Triple J’s The Racket, The Faction, Triple MMM Hard N Heavy, AndrewHaugRadio and Kerrang! Radio’s Alex Baker and been featured on Spotify’s Homegrown & Heavy playlist.
The album’s second single comes a week out from the release of their debut album. The band state that they wrote ‘Someone Uninvited’ at the time that the Australian Equal Rights Marriage plebiscite was taking place, seemingly dividing the country but, as the band saw it, simply irritating everyone involved who just wanted to live their lives the way they wanted.
“Someone Uninvited was a much pulsier and punky song than we had ever written prior, but it was instantly a favourite to both the band and those closest to us, which is why we wanted it to be a single”,comments Figures vocalist Mark Tronson.
“The message in the lyrics – that of standing up to oppression and dehumanisation – are unfortunately always relevant, even more so in 2020. For the video, we felt that the lyrics spoke for themselves and, rather than taking a narrative route, went for something that visually captures the overall sonic vibe of the record.
Extending beyond the confines of ‘Someone Uninvited’, the single’s accompanying video is also a reflection of Figures’ upcoming debut album overall. “Conceptually the record was meant to sound glitchy, static, frantic and very high energy, so that ended up being the basis for the ‘Someone Uninvited’ video, so all those elements are present and people can really get a feel for the full record. We also went for a loose “lyric video” feel, as we decided that we wanted to encourage people to start singing along to our music!” said Tronson.
‘Operating in Unsafe Mode’ explores themes of dehumanisation, isolation and oppression, all through the idea of mass media influence and manipulation. The record was produced by Luke Cincotta and Figures, recorded by Luke Cincotta at Sing Sing Studios and Debasement Studios, mixed by Luke Cincotta, mastered by Forrester Savell and the artwork and cover design is by Will Devereux.
Reblok is brewing up yet another tech house storm with his new single ‘Turn Off The Lights’ following on from ‘Desert Tent’ on Club Sweat. ‘Turn Off the Lights’ hits the mark with its rolling bassline and seductive vocals highlighting what makes Reblok so exciting. The talented producer walks the line between dance mainstream and underground house, to the point that it could almost be its own genre. We’re calling it ‘Unpop Tech’ and Reblok is the king of it.
Reblok explains his love for the highly versatile single, “As soon as I found a good vocal I knew it was gonna be a good tune overall. I was aiming for a radio sound with this one more than for a dance floor track… in the end, I think it would work well for both.”
Listen to ‘Turn Off The Lights’ below
f you want to talk about rising stars in the underground scene you can’t drop too many names before you come to Reblok. The tech-stylings of Reblok have been released on high-profile club imprints such as Hot Creations, Repopulate Mars, Elrow Music, Sola, Suara and Toolroom. The Serbian DJ has had an immense 2020 with tracks like ‘Alone With You’, ‘Toxicity’, and his remix of Sonny Fedora and King Henry’s ‘Before U feat. Aluna George’, all cracking Beatport’s Tech House and Dance charts, while last year’s track ‘Smile’ made the top 10 in the Tech House chart and peaked at #22 in the Top 100.
Reblok’s discography has been used by the likes of Fisher, Jamie Jones, David Guetta, Robbie Rivera,Shiba San, Claptone, and Roger Sanchez to name a few, showcasing the support Reblok has received from some of the heavyweights of the industry. With 10 years of producing unique dance tracks, Reblok is set to take on the biggest dance stage at Exit Festival in Serbia this August.
Brisbane based producer du0 makes his debut on Central Station Records with his highly emotive electronic track ‘Number feat. Brandyn Burnette’. The soul heavy vocal samples of Brandyn Burnette are complemented by the always expansive production of du0, involving harmonically rich atmospheric pads that provide melodically interesting moments throughout the track. The progressive nature of the single creates a euphoric aura and accomplishes du0’s goals of creating music that will move you.
Growing up in St Louis, Missouri, Brandyn Burnette has toured with some of the biggest names in the industry such as John Mayer and James Bay, while his track ‘State I’m In’ has garnered over seven million streams. Detailing how the collaboration came to be, du0 explains, “I’ve been a massive fan of Brandyn’s vocals for a few years and had always loved his progressive soul style, that I thought would be perfect on this track. I reached out to him and he really dug the track and the rest was history.”
While the progressive soul vocals of Burnette bring ‘Number’ to life, it is an extremely personal story to du0 that is deep-rooted in the single. du0 explains the meaning of the track, “the lyrics for ‘Number’ are very personal to me, it’s about a relationship that came to an end. Looking back now it had nothing to do with them, it was really due to the dark place that I was in at the time. I was stuck in the monotony of life and had become really numb. I was struggling to feel anything, which put unnecessary pressure on the relationship and ultimately caused it to end.”
In his two years of producing music, du0 has quickly made his mark as both an energizing electronic dance producer, and an emotion-provoking songwriter. Since his debut in 2018, the Australian producer has gone from strength to strength, with his 2020 hit ‘Come Home’’ surpassing half a million streams alone, while his songwriting has earned him an LA Music Award, and gaining recognition as a finalist at the International Songwriting Competition, with judges such as Coldplay and Tom Waits. His music has garnered tastemaker support from the likes of Pilerats, Acid Stag, Cool Accidents, Your EDM and Run The Trap, while Triple J continue to back the multi-talented producer. ‘Number’ is sure to continue the early success in the career of du0.

“Runaway Angels” is the first single of 2020 from the US-Polish alt-pop artist, serving as the third instalment of her upcoming visual EP Rosemary.
“Rose’s voice is deep and sure, the measured eye of a tumultuous musical storm.”
– THE LINE OF BEST FIT
“Karolina Rose has the dreamy aesthetic and gorgeous vocals that we love in an artist.”
– THE NEW NINE
“An arrangement that takes the orchestral majesty of Within Temptation and marries it to a more personal, intimate vocal that puts us in mind of Kate Bush at her most reflective.”
Rising alt-pop artist Karolina Rose finally emerges from her hiatus with new single “Runaway Angels” – her first release of 2020.
Channeling darker, more introspective energy when compared to her two well-received prior singles – the glittery upbeat rhythms of “Greytopia” and the dusky grooves in “Objection” – “Runaway Angels” is the latest instalment of Karolina’s versatile brand of ‘noir rose pop’ (alluring, seductive and layered – but with a prick of danger) which has seen international acclaim pour in from several tastemakers including The Line of Best Fit, Wonky Sensitive, glamglare, Popmuzik, Teases and Daresand AnalogueTrash.
With layered, indulgent production created by Elliot Jacobson (Allie X / VÉRITÉ / Elle King), the quickly-rising indie singer’s compelling track intends to inspire listeners in an empowering way while on their own journeys of healing and finding love. As with all of Karolina’s music, “Runaway Angels” was born from a deeply personal place of experience and perspective from the nomadic artist, who is split between NYC, LA and Europe.
Often focusing on deeper perspectives in her songwriting, Karolina explained of “Runaway Angels”: “Runaway Angels is more ballet-inspired with a graceful, haunting feeling. It balances between this place of healing and a place of hell—running from a dark, painful abyss of memories that mostly only come up while you’re dreaming. I started releasing the EP last year and these last two songs were quite personal to me. I took some months off on a sort of spiritual journey to look within and do some healing; Runaway Angels helped me process a part of my life that was really difficult for me. It’s euphoric to exercise this part of me out and share it. The chorus was written in my apartment and the rest of it was finished on a vacation during the thick of the #metoo movement. I wrote parts in the middle of the night and tweaked it on the beach with a mini Taylor I had with me and my laptop.”
Listen to ‘Runaway Angels’ below
“Runaway Angels” is step three in Karolina’s visual EP project coming later this summer, which will witness the independent artist tell a tale of love, loss and healing through four spectacular video experiences. The future is clearly bright for Karolina Rose, a sensational self-made artist unfolding who has the potential to reach the upper echelons of the pop sphere with several more enthralling anthems to come.
Ten Hands High’s sound is an eclectic mix of the alternative scene, spanning genres to encompass the best of indie rock, anthemic pop and uni nostalgia.
After releasing their debut single in January 2019, which racked up 30k streams in 3 weeks on Spotify, they proceeded to play several packed out shows in their hometown of Leeds. The band then went on to release 5 more tracks in the space of 5 months, selling out their debut London headline at the Hope and Anchor in Islington along the way.
Having supported Spilt Milk Society, The Clause and Luna Bay, the band are quickly becoming a live act to be reckoned with. Now with over 120k total streams on Spotify, they are ready to embark on what they call ‘Phase 2’ of their journey with a new single called Red Wine slated for release at the end of February. With several shows booked for the Spring including a highly anticipated headline show at The Victoria in London April 18th, 2020 is set to be a level-up year for the band.
Listen to ‘6 Weeks’ below
Alexi on how ‘6 Weeks’ came about:
“Last summer we were looking through our drummer Tom’s instagram and found an instrumental from 2014 that he made when he was 16. That instrumental became the chorus of this tune which we went on to write the rest of whilst cramped together in a grimey Leeds uni house in Hyde Park. We made this song with summer in mind, it’s about a character that doesn’t want to get too deep into a summer relationship” –
“I don’t wanna call it a fling, but you’re not my everything”.
After a very successful debut back in September 19 ‘with “Reverse Entropy” gathering triumphant reviews across the globe, such as amongst many, BURRN! magazine of Japan, but also with some very impressive live performances with DIMMU BORGIR and SEPTICFLESH, the extreme metallers from Athens are about to enter the studio during 2020 summer period for the recordings of their 2nd Studio full length album.
This time, Valgran (George Giannopoulos) and Ros Dracul (Spyros Roditis) unite their compositional and guitar shredding skills, promising us a highly aggressive result which, as they claim, leaves Reverse Entropy far behind. The concept of the album has been taken over once again by Andre Boutos, which however the band keeps in absolute secrecy, as well as the number of the tracks.

The recordings of the album will take place in the brand new studio of Bob Katsionis – Sound Symmetry Studio.
Sydney supergroup Triple One today share ‘Loverose’, the first single from their highly-anticipated debut album. Watch HERE and listen HERE.
After years of dominating the Australian hip-hop scene, Triple One has finally given fans a glimpse of their first full-length release. That comes in the form of ‘Loverose’, a reflective yet triumphant single that blends their preference for overcast melodies, venomous bars, and bombastic production. The song features pensive lyrics about sacrifice, the tentative nature of success, and what it means to achieve something in both their personal and professional lives; tying these real-life experiences with other-worldly space metaphors.
The atmospheric video was directed by Tyson Perkins and Marty Bugatti, and reflects the themes of ‘Loverose’ through a series of alien landscapes, resulting in a cinematic experience housed in an eerie, post-apocalyptic planet. Vocalist Marty Bugatti shares that “Loverose is a song about the flawed nature of intimate love. Humans are an imperfect creation and also mortal. This makes love a lot harder, but also a lot more beautiful.” Producer Billy Gunns describes the track as about “being close to something that you’ve been wanting your whole life,” addressing Triple One’s undeniable ascension throughout the past few years.
Triple One’s debut album is slated for release in the near future. The release of ‘Loverose’ follows three EPs and a torrent of standalone singles that have catapulted the foursome from underground buzz act to garnering national and international acclaim, including their ARIA Gold-certified mental health anthem ‘Butter‘ and radio favourites ‘So Easy‘ and ‘Handyman‘. Triple One’s notoriously chaotic live gigs include a sold-out national tour in 2019, and show-stealing sets at Listen Out, Hidden, and Falls Festival. Along the way, they’ve impressed and surprised with their insatiable, all-consuming appetite to continuously venture into uncharted artistic terrain, and a rebellious desire to constantly fold new sounds and textures into their brand of unbounded, unclassifiable hip-hop.

ABOUT TRIPLE ONE
With one foot planted in Sydney’s gritty underground rap scene, and the other in the sounds of Inner West indie, Triple One are a sonic experiment between hard, soft, beautiful, grimey and all the textures in between. The product of a porous internet generation, their music is rooted in hip hop but is animated by the group’s fearless, restless creativity, exploring metal, emo, pop, punk and R&B in a fierce, blasphemous repudiation of genre barriers. It’s a singular combination that makes Triple One impossible to categorise and even harder to ignore.
Having accumulated underground buzz for years through viral early singles ‘Doozy‘ and ‘Overflow‘ and their notorious live shows, Triple One broke into Australia’s mainstream consciousness in 2018 with singles ‘Showoff‘, ‘Tarlo‘ and ‘Valentine Kid‘ being added to high rotation on triple j. Profiles from Complex, GQ and Highsnobiety followed, as did a spot on Youtube’s first-ever ‘Artists to Watch’ list and spotlights as triple j Unearthed ‘Artist of the Week’, Apple Music’s ‘New Artist of the Week’ and more. In 2019 they consolidated their takeover of Australian airwaves with pensive, mental health-centered, ARIA Gold-certified ‘Butter‘, which scored rotation on triple j and FBi Radio; release their third EP, The Libertine 2, and their collaboration with Matt Corby and Kwame, ‘So Easy’.
PRAISE FOR TRIPLE ONE
“The next-gen of voices in Aussie hip-hop who aren’t afraid to broaden the definition of the scene they run in”
“Triple One have been redefining the sound of Australian hip-hop”
“They have this Brockhampton-style energy in the sense of free will and creativity”
Zane Lowe (Beats Radio 1)
“A versatile and creative force you can’t take your eyes off”

Singer-songwriter IMOGEN CLARK today unveils ‘THE MAKING OF ME’, the title track from her forthcoming EP, due for release on August 21 (Potts Entertainment/MGM). The Making Of Me EP is available to pre-order NOW.
Watch ‘The Making Of Me’ below
To celebrate the release, Imogen also announces a series of live EP launch shows taking place at Brisbane’s Black Bear Lodge on Friday 21 August, plus two performances – 7pm and 9pm – at Sydney’s The Vanguard on Thursday 10 September.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now at imogenclark.com.au
Following her sold out Live From The Backyard virtual concert series last month, Imogen is thrilled to be hitting the road for real this August and September.
“Ever since these shows became a possibility, I’ve been buzzing with energy. Playing for fans is my lifeblood, and I’ve been itching to bring the new songs to life with my band! I’m working hard to make these shows extra special and the catharsis we all need right now”.
New single ‘The Making Of Me’ was written during a particularly dark time in Imogen’s life. “It’s about finding the strength to push through”, she says.
“I had no way of knowing when we recorded the song, that I’d be releasing it in the middle of a pandemic right as people around the world are facing their darkest hours. If you’re struggling right now, I hope this song speaks to you and helps give you the strength to keep going.”
Shot at Sydney’s Low 302 Bar in March, days before COVID-19 shut down all live music in Australia, the stirring music video for ‘The Making Of Me’ showcases Imogen’s vulnerable performance; the artist sits alone at a piano, pouring her heart out, to an empty venue.
“We filmed this video on the eve of Sydney’s lockdown, in a venue where I’d just played one of my favourite shows ever. It was eerie shooting in an empty room that had just a week earlier been packed with people enjoying live music.
“I wanted to help support all the great venues that have supported me over the years, so I’ve curated some resources for venues I’ve loved playing, or had planned to play before COVID; ways you can help support them so they can hang on until things return to normal”.
Music lovers can check out Imogen’s resources HERE.
Recorded in LA and produced by Mike Bloom (Jenny Lewis, Julian Casablancas), Imogen Clark’s The Making Of Me EP features the likes of Alex Lahey, Clare Bowen Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers), Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) and more across six tracks.
“With powerful vocals and an infectious drumbeat, Clark sets out to cure a broken heart. This breakup anthem will pick you up off the floor, dust you off and have you feeling ready to start seeing the world in color once again” – Parade
“… a song of defiance, strength and a bold celebration of her new-found situation. Imogen’s vocals carry you along on a euphoric wave of positivity.” – The AU Review

SHOCKONE LAUNCHES DARK MACHINE RECORDS, WITH DEBUT RELEASE ‘TURNING BACK’ BY LEE MVTTHEWS
Following on from a decade-long career that has solidified him as one of the most impressive electronic exports from Australia, today, Perth’s own ShockOne a.k.a Karl Thomas, announces the launch of Dark Machine Records. With a clear vision in mind, Karl hopes to build a community that supports and promotes forward thinking bass music, and further to that, helps foster a more connected scene throughout Asia Pacific and beyond. Already scoping a wide range of talent for releases throughout 2020, Karl is looking forward to helping artists in realising their own creative vision, whilst also assisting them in being able to make a fair living from their craft.
Partnering with Central Station Records for distribution and label services, General Manager Matt Nugent shares “we’re super excited to work with ShockOne. When it comes to bass music, he’s truly one of Australia’s international ambassadors and has inspired so many Australian bass music artists with his achievements. We can’t wait for the rest of the world to hear the amazing music he’s got coming up on the label.”
Taking the title of the inaugural release on Dark Machine Records, New Zealand duo Lee Mvtthews (made up of Graham Matthews and Tom Lee) have hit the ground running, with the heaving warehouse anthem ‘Turning Back’. Having met in 2013, the pair have gained a reputation for their infectious tunes, and becoming a staple of the NZ festival route. Their standout single ‘Nothing To Lose’ from their debut EP SILHOUETTES, won them the honor of “Best Track of 2018” at the George FM awards, whilst also taking home the prestigious title of “Best Breakthrough Artist of 2018”. Going on to release a slew of singles including ‘Stay’, ‘Inside Out’, and ‘Let Me Go feat. Embher’ – the latter winning them “Best Track” for the second year running at the George FM awards, whilst also earning themselves “NZ Artist of the Year”. Never ones to rest on their laurels, the duo went on to release their debut LP ‘Bones’ in 2019. The lead single ‘Takeover feat. Nu’ solidified their status as one of the most exciting new acts in dance music, charting at #1 on the NZ Dance Charts, whilst taking out the top spot on George FM’s annual ‘Aotearoa Anthems’ countdown.
Shedding some light on the new single, Tom shares “Turning back is a track we’re both very proud of. It’s got the high energy for the dance floor and still has a catchy hook to pull the listener in. Perfectly encompassing what we feel the “Lee Mvtthews” sound is.” And with the single being Tom’s second foray in vocals, Graham goes on to say “it feels great to put out a vocal track that feels totally Lee Mvtthews. Working with talented vocalists is an amazing experience and really adds a different flavour to the process but having something that is totally ours feels like an achievement in itself. We can’t wait to share this with the world.”
ShockOne’s decade long career was ignited by the drum and bass classic ‘Polygon’ taken from the debut EP ‘ShockOne’ released on Viper records in 2009. Followed up by the critically acclaimed debut album ‘Universus’ in 2013 featuring hit singles ‘Chaos Theory’, ‘Lazerbeam’ and ‘Home’, which became a #1 ARIA album in Australia, whilst also charting across New Zealand and the UK. Off the success of the record, Karl relocated to London touring the album extensively throughout Europe and the UK. Between tours and festivals Karl produced a string of singles and remixes for the likes of DJ Snake, Dillon Francis, NGHTMRE & What So Not to name just a few. Then in 2019, Karl released his long awaited sophomore album ‘A Dark Machine’ via Warner Music and licensed it to Monstercat Records in North America. With massive streaming success across the LP, in particular for singles ‘Underloved’, ‘Pray For Me’, ‘A Dark Machine’ and ‘Run’ featuring Italian powerhouse The Bloody Beetroots. Having worked with independent and major labels Karl is now excited to be building his own label Dark Machine Records, helping develop a roster of diverse bass music artists while continuing to work closely with Monstercat in North America.
With a slew of incredible artists already signed to the roster, including Elliot Sloan, Ekko & Sidetrack, and the forthcoming debut from Brisbane native Quinn Karter, the team behind Dark Machine Records are looking forward to a 2020 stacked with new releases. Further celebrating the new venture, ShockOne is opening the doors to his Dark Machine Warehouse, taking place on 31st October at Centenary Warehouse in Perth – this highly anticipated, 3,000 capacity event, sold out in under a week.
Lee Mvtthews’ new single ‘Turning Back’, is out now on Dark Machine Records.
Singer-songwriter supreme Rufus Wainwright announces the release of his long-awaited new album, Unfollow The Rules which arrives today via BMG. Listen to UNFOLLOW THE RULES
To announce the album, Rufus has shared the video for Devils and Angels (Hatred) which was directed by the singer’s husband and co-manager Jorn Weisbrodt, with costumes by renown designer Zaldy. WatchDEVILS AND ANGELS (HATRED)
Wainwright says of the song, “My Queen moment? I wouldn’t go that far, but ‘Devils and Angels (Hatred)’ is the single and I think it’s an important song. It’s about what’s going on in the world today. We’re in the midst of a ‘war’ that has to be won and to do that requires a dog spirit, a triumphant attitude. The concept comes from an opera I saw in Italy with my mum many years ago – Gluck’s Armide, premiered merely 10 years before the French revolution. There’s an amazing scene where the main character has to summon hatred in order to save herself. She sings an aria and hatred rises. Of course, hatred isn’t great, but it’s not all negative. It is an energy required in battle. That’s my sister Martha Wainwright on backing vocals. All of my albums have a Martha moment and this song required the big guns!” As for the video he remarks,“We shot the video on the last day before the lock down in California. I think it captures a little bit of that end of the world spirit that people felt when this happened.”
Fans are invited to attend an #UnfollowTheRules VIP Virtual Record Release Party on July 11 at 11 AM PT (for keen Aussies, it’ll be 4am July 12 AEST). Attendees will have a first look at some exclusive one-of-a-kind Unfollow The Rules merchandise, and will get a private virtual concert, including meet and greet and a tour of Wainwright’s Laurel Canyon home. For tickets and special merch bundles, visit rufuswainwrightvip.com.
Wainwright’s ninth studio LP and first new pop album since 2012, Unfollow The Rules finds the artist at the peak of his powers, entering artistic maturity with passion, honesty, and a new-found fearlessness while remaining as creative, bold, and mischievous as ever. Produced by Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Paul McCartney, Richard Thompson, Suzanne Vega, Randy Newman) at a variety of legendary Los Angeles studios – including Sound City Studios, United Recording, and East West Studios – the album serves as both bookend to Act I of an extraordinary career which, like Unfollow The Rules, began in the studios of Los Angeles, but also now as the first lines of a remarkable new chapter. Inspired by middle age, married life, fatherhood, friends, loss, London, and Laurel Canyon, songs like Only The People That Love and the spirited, symphonic Hatred find the gifted singer-songwriter ready to tackle new challenges, yet compelled to confront his past by making sense of how he has grown both as a musician and the contented family man he has become.
Praised by the New York Times for his “genuine originality,” Rufus Wainwright has established himself as one of the great male vocalists, songwriters and composers of his generation. The New York-born, Montreal-raised singer songwriter has released seven studio albums to date with, three DVDs, and three live albums, including the fantastic Grammy nominated Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall.
Musically Rufus has collaborated with artists including Elton John, Burt Bacharach, Robert Wilson, David Byrne, Boy George, Joni Mitchell, Pet Shop Boys, Heart, Robbie Williams, Jessye Norman, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Sting, and producer Mark Ronson, among many others.
Rufus has made a name for himself in the classical music world. His much acclaimed first opera, titled Prima Donna, premiered at the Manchester International Festival in July 2009 and was performed in London, New York, Paris, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong among others. Rufus’ second opera based on the on the story of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and Antinous premiered in October 2018 at the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto and won a Dora Award for Outstanding New Opera.
Rufus has also distinguished himself by playing original orchestrated pop songs, his orchestral settings of 5 Shakespeare Sonnets and pieces from an extensive classical repertoire with orchestras around the world such as the Chicago Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Residentie Orchestra, Orchestre National de lIle de France, the orchestra of the Teatro Real.
He has appeared at many of the world’s greatest concert halls and festivals including Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall, Sydney Opera, Teatro Colon, Hollywood Bowl, the Elbphilharmonie, the Olympia, Glastonbury, Roskilde, and the Kennedy Honors.
He has written and recorded songs for a wide variety of movies and TV shows including Brokeback Mountain, Shrek, Judy, Meet the Robinsons, The Aviator, Moulin Rouge, and Boardwalk Empire.
He and his sister Martha Wainwright continue the legacy of their mother, Canadian folk icon Kate McGarrigle, and raise funds for the Kate McGarrigle Fund funding sarcoma research and a music therapy program.
Wainwright is currently working on a number of films, podcasts and musical projects and lives in Los Angeles with husband Jörn Weisbrodt and shares custody for his daughter Viva with her mother Lorca Cohen.

DMA’S Live – THE GLOW special airing at 3pm on Channel 9 tomorrow (Sat 11th July)
Today it is with great excitement that I OH YOU present DMA’S highly anticipated third studio album, THE GLOW, with a spotlight on the band’s new single ‘Criminals’.
Recorded and mixed by multi-Grammy Award winning producer Stuart Price (The Killers, New Order, Madonna) at the historic Westlake Recording Studios in Hollywood, THE GLOW is a step up for the band in every sense. With two top #10 ARIA albums, 4x ARIA-nominations, and multiple ARIA Platinum and ARIA Gold singles already under their belt, THE GLOW marks a leap forward for DMA’S that is bigger, bolder and brighter than ever, and shows just how far they’ve come.
DMA’S 2016 debut album Hill’s End was recorded in guitarist Johnny Took’s rundown Newtown apartment, where they would start the day by flipping a mattress up against the wall in an attempt to block out the traffic noise from a nearby highway. This time, working with one of the world’s most renowned producers (in a studio once frequented by Quincy Jones) the band were able to take their song writing to the next level, resulting in an anthemic pop record that sees the band fulfil their world-class potential with a collection of songs destined for arenas. From the New Order meets Pet Shop Boys dance vibes of ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ to the heartfelt, Lennon-esque ‘Learning Alive’, THE GLOW is a collection of fresh, impassioned songs that push the boundaries of what DMA’S “are” while proving their unwavering ability to write sensational and timeless songs.
THE GLOW’s huge first single ‘Silver’ debuted into the world in late 2019 and has become DMA’S fastest streaming song to date (with over 8.5 million streams in the space of a few months). Quickly championed by fans across the country, ‘Silver’ was voted #20 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2019 (their 6th consecutive year in the countdown). Follow-up single ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’ took the band to another level, premiering on the UK’s BBC Radio 1 and landing ‘Record Of The Week’ on the UK’s Radio X, later receiving official remixes from dance royalty Orbital, Melbourne producer Willaris. K and Martin Buttrich.
The album’s title track ‘The Glow’ was added to Daytime Playlist at Radio X, and latest single ‘Criminals’ which premiered via Richard Kingsmill on triple j earlier this week, is proving to be one of the biggest pop moments on the record.
“This song is my favourite off the record, I love the way it turned out and we had a lot of fun recording it.” – Tommy O’Dell
THE GLOW has seen plenty of early support from the likes of The Sun (UK), Dork, Q Magazine (4 stars), Uncut (7/10), Clash (8/10), NME AU, Rolling Stone AU and Consequence of Sound. This week has been a huge release week for the band, seeing them appear on The Project, The Today Show, Triple M Hot Breakfast, ABC TV and across daily newspapers, with much more to come!
To celebrate the release of THE GLOW, this week DMA’S announced an intimate run of stripped-back shows at Sydney’s Factory Theatre in July/Aug. Due to unprecedented pre-sale demand for the first 12 dates revealed, last night the band added an additional and final six shows. In line with updated regulations around live entertainment, the band will be playing to limited capacity crowds, with the multiple shows giving more fans a chance to be some of the first in the world to hear their new material live for the very first time. Tickets go on sale today at noon, head to frontiertouring.com/DMAS for tickets.
Having performed a sold out show at London’s iconic 5,000 capacity O2 Academy Brixton before the world went into lockdown, these new dates are DMA’S first gigs in many months, with local fans scoring the chance to be the very first in the world to witness the band’s latest material live on stage. Those eager to remember the joy of DMA’S live can tune into Channel 9 this Saturday (Jul 11) for a very special screening; ‘DMA’S Live – THE GLOW’ at 3:00PM AEST.
From bedroom recordings and Sydney pubs to standing shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the biggest names in music, THE GLOW is a record about embracing change and taking risks. Every achievement is the result of DMA’S unwavering dedication to their craft. THE GLOW sees the band expand the limits of their production style and use of texture and sound, while still retaining the integrity of who they are as writers. And boy, has the risk paid off.
Tune into DMA’S Facebook and YouTube tonight at 9.30pm AEST to join Tommy, Johnny and Mason for a virtual listening party, as they live stream THE GLOW in full for the first time and take questions from fans throughout.

UK Grindcore pioneers NAPALM DEATH are delighted to announce their upcoming studio album release, Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism, to be released on September 18 via Century Media Records / Sony Music Australia.
Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatism is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2015’s acclaimed Apex Predator – Easy Meat album, was again recorded with longtime producer Russ Russell and features artwork by Frode Sylthe (to be seen above!).
NAPALM DEATH’s vocalist Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway checked in with the following comment about the upcoming album and its theme:
“The phrase sticking in my mind when I started thinking about the lyrical direction for this album was “the other”. You could recognise at the time that there was a rapidly growing fear and paranoia being generated about everybody, from migrating people to people with fluid sexuality and this was starting to manifest itself in very antagonistic reactions that you felt were almost verging on violence. Not everybody resorts to such reactions of course, but even the basic lack of understanding can become toxic over time. I’m not saying that this is an entirely new phenomenon, but it has been stoked in recent history by some particularly attack-minded people in more political circles and, as ever, I felt that it would be the natural antidote to endorse basic humanity and solidarity with all.
The artwork specifically uses a white dove as a centrepiece, which of course is a commonly recognised symbol of peace and cooperation. The dove has been mauled very violently by a sterilising hand and in death appears particularly broken and bloodied. However, through the violence you can see an equality symbol in blood on the chest of the dove, which perhaps demonstrates – visually at least – that equality cuts through in the end. A positive amidst many negatives then, much like the album title itself being a bit of an oxymoron – the celebration of humanity even in the mangling jaws of negativity”.
From the pinnacle of confrontational instrumental extremity and steadfast lyrical humanity, NAPALM DEATH’s new album warps musical landscapes all over again. Throes of Joy in the Jaws of Defeatismincludes 12 songs seething with caustic evolution and unrelenting scope. Here is the track-listing for the standard edition of the album:
