MARCUS KING TO RELEASE DAN AUERBACH PRODUCED DEBUT SOLO ALBUM, EL DORADO

MARCUS KING TO RELEASE DAN AUERBACH PRODUCED DEBUT SOLO ALBUM, EL DORADO ON JANUARY 17th VIA FANTASY RECORDS

Marcus King announces the release of his genre-bending debut solo record, El Dorado – produced by Grammy Award winner Dan Auerbach due Jan 17th. Already a 23-year-old guitar phenomenon El Dorado will further establish

Marcus as an innovative songwriter and one of the most soulful voices of his generation.El Dorado is a contemporary sonic exploration of classic rock, blues, southern R&B and country-soul where subtle acoustics and pedal steel shines bright alongside raucous electric guitars and blistering solos. Following their previous collaboration on song “How Long,” King and Auerbach co-wrote twelve songs for El Dorado in only three days in his Easy Eye Sound studio.

On working with Marcus, Dan stated,

“Marcus is known by so many as a phenom guitar player, and rightfully so. He’s regularly the best player in the room, hands down. I was equally blown away by the way he can sing – so effortless, so soulful, straight from the heart. He’s a naturally gifted writer too, which was clear right away. Everything for him is so innate – that’s why he can always go right to the heart of a song and connect in a deeper way. He’s really one of a kind and I’m proud I got to work alongside him on this record.”

MARCUS KING “THE WELL”

Their debut single “The Well” a fuzzy, electric-blues masterpiece which rumbles down the highway like Marcus’ jet black El Dorado, premiered today with Rolling Stone who stated

‘The result is an album that expands on King’s established Southern jam-rock sound. On ‘The Well,’ the first song released from ‘El Dorado,’ King embraces the blues, firing off ferocious solos and singing about the fantasy of ‘easy street.’ In short, it doesn’t exist, but that doesn’t stop King from pining for better times

The song’s lyrics reflect on hard work and hard times. “When you have a $70 check go bad, you know times are tough,” Marcus recalled and added, “The Well for me symbolizes the source of all my influences. It is everything that has happened to me to make me the man I am today”

”Playing professionally since he was eleven years old Marcus King is a fourth-generation musician who followed his family’s footsteps. His grandfather was a country guitarist, and his father continues to perform live. His pursuit of music often made him feel like an outsider but equally provided comfort, especially when he was thirteen and lost a friend during a tragic car crash. Marcus stated, “She was the first girl I had feelings for, that was a really heavy moment, and writing songs was my expression. I also had undiagnosed bipolar disorder and my appearance and interests were not embraced by my educators and their pupils. They were good folks but it kind of felt like being in prison and all I really needed to learn was music. At 23 years old,

Marcus King has already been performing live for fifteen years and has established himself as an enthralling world class live music talent. He has appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, made his debut at The Grand Ole Opry and has performed with Chris Stapleton on a recent US arena tour, Crossroads Guitar Festival and at sold out headline shows including his namesake festival – The Marcus King Band Family Reunion. Previous Marcus King releases have received critical acclaim from the likes of VICE Noisey, NPR and Rolling Stone who acclaimed him an artist you need to know and described him as an “ electrifying rock performer”

AITCH
DEBUT AUSTRALIAN & NEW ZEALAND TOUR
MARCH 2020

PRESALE: 10AM THURSDAY 03 OCTOBER –  9AM FRIDAY 04 OCTOBER LOCAL TIME
GENERAL SALES: 10AM FRIDAY 04 OCTOBER LOCAL TIME

Fit and firing after selling out his recent UK tour in seven minutes flat, Manchester MC Aitch will be putting his considerable skills on display at shows in Auckland, Wellington and across Australia.

Currently sitting at number one in the UK with ‘Take Me Back to London’ (his collaboration with Ed Sheeran and Stormzy), Aitch (real name Harrison Armstrong) has also recently released his debut EP Aitch20 to much fanfare both at home and abroad.

Boasting over 200,000 YouTube followers as well as tens of millions of Spotify streams for singles ‘Taste (Make It Shake)’, ‘Strike A Pose’ (with Young T and Bugzy), and ‘Trust Me, this prodigiously talented rapper and MC is hitting extreme heights with dizzying speed.

Still not quite 20, most of Aitch’s childhood friends would probably be more likely to head to Australia for a boozy gap year at this stage of their lives, but such has been the extent of this North Manchester native’s rapid rise, he’ll first set foot on these shores in the midst of a fully blown breakout bonanza.

Now counting the likes of Wiley, Stormzy and even Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard as supporters, it’s amazing to think that only a few years ago, Aitch’s idea of performance was mucking around in a carpark, writing bars over his iPhone 4 and drinking vodka with his mates.

As it turns out, one of these mates decided to take things into his own hands and upload a clip to YouTube / rap platform P110, subsequently whipping up a storm of attention for Aitch’s Straight Rhymez freestyle.

From there, a freestyle uploaded to website GRM Daily (Grime, Rap, Music) became the most viewed clip ever on the platform. An incredible display of lyrical dexterity and swagger, Aitch breezes through nearly three minutes of bravado and, almost instantly, a star is born.

With the ability to hop on just about any beat with an individual understanding and approach to it, Aitch’s gifts lie in both his approach to his craft and his cheeky personality.

Whether it’s rap, grime, dubstep or drum & bass, he pilots his rhymes around addictive instrumental orbits, always landing the craft with a wink to his besotted listeners.
I don’t want to be taken too seriously and don’t watch what anyone says”, he explains when asked how he is seen by people.

Well, he was recently seen by just about everybody at the UK’s recent Reading and Leeds festivals. In fact, his sets were so feverishly anticipated that organiser had to arrange for a massive stage upgrade. Click on YouTube tell the tale, as thousands of transfixed punters clamour to get just a little closer to their new hero.

Legendary THE SISTERS OF MERCY are here in October / November!!

THE SISTERS OF MERCY

AUSTRALIAN TOUR 2019

It howls. It’s grindingly beautiful. It’s dangerously sentient. It’s The Sisters of Mercy returning to Australia this October and November for their first headline shows in over 7 years!

Propelled from the obsession with electronica but still a far distance from the machinations of the mainstream music of the time, the signature sound of The Sisters Of Mercy cultivated a powerful mystique, creating some of the most influential rock music of the 1980s.

Led by the haunting voice and visual focus of founding band member Andrew Eldritch, whose ingenious and self-proclaimed ‘superchargedindustrial psychedelia’ spawned a subculture of underground rock music that gained cult status and has since been cited as a major influence by the likes of Metallica, Nine Inch Nails and My Chemical Romance.

“aggressive, decadent, magnetic, metallic, and..downright operatic.”

– AV Club

Over the course of three decades The Sisters Of Mercy released three, utterly brilliant and hyper influential studio albums scaling the charts around the globe. They’ve amassed a legion of devoted fans who flock to see classics such as Lucretia MyReflection‘, ‘Temple Of Love’ and ‘This Corrosion’, a testament to their incredible live shows.

In 2019 The Sisters’ fun juggernaut drives on with a little new chrome and a lot of vintage attitude.

Glass Tides have just released their latest jaw-dropping single “Waste”.

Adelaide metalcore five-piece Glass Tides  have just released their latest jaw-dropping single “Waste”.  Inspired by the sounds of Bring Me The Horizon and The Used, the Careening instrumentals in “Waste” produce brooding undertones to the explosive angst-filled anthem that slices through the listlessness of life.

Alongside “Crawling their first single of 2019 released in August, which received triple j and Unearthed radio play and acclaim from media and fans alike – “Waste” serves as the perfect taster ahead of the release of the band’s full-length album.. set for release on 17th January 2020.

Glass Tides are a five-piece pop punk/rock group from Adelaide, Australia. They have wasted no time establishing themselves nationwide since their formation in 2017, supporting artists such as Thrice, Circa Survive, Spiderbait, Body Jar, Young Lions & plenty more.

Having drawn comparisons to Bring Me The Horizon, The Used and Emarosa, the band’s every track is heavy with guitar, passionate, anthemic vocals and massive drums.

The group’s unique mix of heavy/emo music accompanied by the passionate and raw vocals has ignited excitement around the world upon there establishment in late 2017. Along the way, the group has released two EPs, Thoughts (2017) & My Descend (2018).

CITY CALM DOWN

ANNOUNCE INDEFINITE HIATUS

TOURING NATIONALLY | OCTOBER 2019

A message from City Calm Down:

To our fans, family, friends and everybody who has worked with and supported us over the past 12 years: it is with a mixture of sadness and pride that we announce that our current Television tour will be the last tour we perform before going on indefinite hiatus.

The past 12 years and, in particular, the past five, have been immensely fulfilling and we are incredibly grateful to everyone that has played a small or large role in our journey. With your support, the four of us have been able to live our childhood dreams and that is an incredible gift that you have given us.

Bands are fragile things that require a lot of time, energy and sacrifice to maintain, and we have put our hearts and souls into this project over the last 12 years. Our goals for the future, both as individuals and a group, have guided us in our decision to bring this chapter of our lives to a close. This decision has not been made lightly but it is a decision that the four of us have made together and in friendship. It is also a decision that, we feel, allows us to celebrate the work we have made together and share that celebration with you.

If you’re making it along to one of our upcoming shows, we can’t wait to share our music with you one last time.

With love,

Jack, Sam, Jeremy and Lee

Fans are encouraged to join City Calm Down to celebrate the band’s career when they hit the road this month on their national Television tour, which kicks off Friday 11 October at Sydney’s Manning Bar. Final tickets are on sale now via www.citycalmdown.com.

SHELLEY SEGAL SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘NO’ AHEAD OF NEW EP ‘HOLY’ ✨

SHELLEY SEGAL SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘NO’ AHEAD OF NEW EP ‘HOLY’ ✨

SHELLEY SEGAL

SHARES NEW SINGLE NO

AHEAD OF NEW EP HOLY

LA-based songwriter Shelley Segal has today announced her latest single No, a modern, bold and assertive track that describes the difficulty many women face when turning down sexual advances, out today, October 4.  Shelley has also announced her masterful new EP Holy, a masterclass in intimate lyricism and exciting, innovative Americana, set for release on November 1.  The Australian musician has been living and working in Los Angeles for three years, writing and recording Holy in the US while touring and collaborating on a host of noteworthy artistic projects.

No has a sentiment that will ring true for many women who have found themselves in a situation where it was almost impossible to say the word.  Driving guitars and textured percussion propel the track forward with serious attitude, while Shelley’s honeyed vocals carve a stunning melody on top.  Speaking on the inspiration behind this important track, Shelley explains, No is a song about consent and the subtleties surrounding it.  It describes three different scenarios in which the protagonist finds it difficult to say no to sexual advances.  I wrote the song because even though it’s 2019 and so many women feel comfortable asserting themselves and speaking up for themselves, and even though there has been so much public discourse and progress on these issues, there are still scenarios where it feels hard to say ‘no’.  You can find yourself in a situation that you don’t want to be in and yet be unable to express that.  It’s not always easy in the moment to process the potential consequences that may come from your reaction.  Like the examples in the song for instance, in a work environment, in the street with a stranger.  Saying ‘no’ can create adverse outcomes like risking your job, or your safety.  This discussion around consent is not as straightforward as maybe we would like it to be and I wanted to reflect on those nuances.”

No is the first taste of Shelley Segal’s glorious new EP Holy.  This is an artist who has truly found her feet; Holy Man shines with energetic roots, rock riffs, skilled arrangement and Shelley’s undeniable lyrics and beautiful vocal performance.  San Antonio tugs at the heartstrings, a simple acoustic track with a deeply affecting message, while Holy is steeped in attitude and power, as Shelley sings, “I believe my body is beautiful, and it belongs to me.”  The EP was recorded in Brooklyn at Atomic Sound Studios with Dakota Bowman and Merle Chornuk (Tandy, Ryan Adams), it was produced and co-written (3 songs) with New York producer, guitarist and film composer Askold Buk and was mastered by Ted Jensen (Norah Jones, Dave Matthews).  Speaking on the making of the release, Shelley enthuses, “I’ve been working on the songs for this record for over the last three years – since 2016, the year I moved to the US.  I’ve called the ep ‘HOLY‘  which felt like a really powerful statement.  In the Jewish tradition I grew up in, what was holy was dictated to me.  Which words, items and actions and even which people were holy was dictated to me.  To elevate my life, my songs, my experiences and my voice (which was not allowed to be heard unaccompanied in my synagogue), to call them holy is incredibly empowering.  It’s a challenge to those who want to use concepts of holiness and the sacred to create hierarchies, often placing themselves at the top.  I hope it will inspire people to decide for themselves what is holy and sacred to them.”

Shelley has been living and working in the US since 2016, and in between touring the country and writing music for her own project, Shelley has done everything from writing for musicals, for Estonian pop star ELYSA, and Dutch artist Glennis Grace, among others.  She has also worked tirelessly for charity group One Law For All, writing two songs for the organisation and reciving the CEMB Award (Council of Ex-Muslims of Britain) for her contributions.  Always busy with multiple thought-provoking projects on the go at once, Shelley is currently working on the music for a documentary (entitled Transmission Love) about a young transgender girl growing up in LA, as well as a conservation-themed EP with a science educator and biologist about the Puget Sound Watershed in Washington State.

No is out today, October 4. Holy is out November 1.

                                                         Praise for Shelley Segal

An Australian singer/songwriter now living in California, Segal sings with pain and purpose. Her music builds out of a woman and her guitar, incorporating additional instrumentation as needed but consistently coming from a familiar place – that heartfelt home, be it physical or musical. http://atwoodmagazine.com/sshr-shelley-segal-here/

PARKER ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘CAN’T KEEP WAITING’

PARKER ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO ‘CAN’T KEEP WAITING’

ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE & VIDEO
CAN’T KEEP WAITING’

+ ARTIST RESIDENCY & EXHIBITION ‘YOU, ME AND THAT OTHER THING’ AT SAWTOOTH ARI

Gifted visual artist, songwriter and musician PARKER has today announced her iridescent new single Can’t Keep Waiting, a once-in-a-lifetime song, one that soundtracks a grand leap into the unknown and away from everything comfortable and safe, set for release today, October 4.  PARKER has also announced a cinematic video clip to accompany the track, made in collaboration with director and technology artist Jaymis Loveday (Emma Louise, Ball Park Music) and sculptor Briony Law.  PARKER has just completed an artist residency at Sawtooth ARI gallery alongside drawer and sculptor Jo Lane, in order to prepare their upcoming exhibition You, Me and that Other Thing, an exploration into human connection.  The official opening of You, Me and that Other Thing will take place today, Friday October 4 from 6PM at Sawtooth ARI in Tasmania (running for one month), and will include a screening of the Can’t Keep Waiting video clip.

Can’t Keep Waiting is transcendental, meditative; at times it feels almost ambient, with heavy, industrial percussion and repetitive synth patterns.  But one thing that pulls the track into a truly close, emotive space is PARKER’s soft, intimate yet commanding voice.  Evocative of Massive Attack and the lyrical and vocal prowess of Lana Del ReyCan’t Keep Waiting is epic and overflows with the power of primal human emotion. Can’t Keep Waiting is about gathering the courage to be honest with myself.  It’s about letting go of all that is safe and familiar in life in order to evolve and grow,” explains Parker. “I believe it’s in the moments when we feel completely lost that we find the opportunity to discover something new about ourselves.  Nothing is permanent, everything can change.  Each moment we have the ability to create ourselves anew.”

Already receiving multiple accolades, including Best Concept at Clipped Music Video Festival in Sydney, Best Music Video at the Los Angeles Film AwardsNew York Film Awards and Top Shorts, not to mention selection for screening at the Austria International Film Festivalthe clip for Can’t Keep Waiting is a triumph of a true marriage between sound, visual art, and cinema.  Made by PARKER, in collaboration with Jaymis Loveday and Briony Law, the clip sees clay mounds, turning gracefully to human forms, dissolving in a deep-seascape with very little light from above.  PARKER displays a clear and intricate understanding of her art as she describes the video, “The clip concept for this song was born out of a video installation work I made called Dissolving Self.  Dissolving Self was a projection installation of a video art work.  The video was a of a clay cast of my face dissolving in water set on a loop that made it look like it was falling apart and then rebuilding.  I showed the work to my friend Jaymis Loveday and he suggested we make an extension of the work by creating full body casts and miniature models using a larger tank and cinematography techniques in the filming. Brisbane based sculptor Briony Law worked closely with me on the sculpting of the plaster landscapes and made all of the body casts and moulds for us to create the figures.”

You, Me and that Other Thing is the title of the upcoming exhibition that will see PARKER and Jo Lane explore the many facets of human connection.  The exhibition will consist of three parts: historic works where inspiration has already manifested, a transition piece, and the work from an experimental performance of unity. PARKER and Jo Lane have spent the last two weeks in residency at Sawtooth ARI, working side by side in a dedicated studio space where the exhibition will take place. Giving her audience a taste of what to expect from the exhibition, PARKER enthuses,We will create a body of work together around the theme of human connection combining Jo’s skills in drawing and sculpting and mine in sound and video.  The exhibition will combine a collection of our existing works and the new work we make during the residency.”

PARKER is Tash Parker.

Can’t Keep Waiting is set for release today, October 4 and the You, Me and that Other Things exhibition opens today at Sawtooth ARI at 6pm (October 4) and will run for the month of October.
