DEATHBEDS RELEASE NEW SINGLE “ENOUGH ISN’T ENOUGH” FROM SINNER ALBUM OUT MARCH 13

DEATHBEDS

RELEASE NEW SINGLE

“ENOUGH ISN’T ENOUGH”

FROM SINNER ALBUM OUT MARCH 13

Canberra’s Deathbeds are today releasing the next cut from their forthcoming concept album ‘Sinner’ – a new single that continues the themes surrounding the Seven Deadly Sins. The new track, called “Enough Isn’t Enough” represents the ‘Gluttony’ sin. The new single will be released on Friday February 28th and will be available on all streaming outlets/digital platforms at http://ffm.to/deathbeds_EIE.

The upcoming album is a concept record, taking its theme from the Seven Deadly Sins. The overarching storyline follows a priest abusing the sins in order of Pride, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Wrath and Envy, with the final track representing the Priest’s journey ending in Heresy.

“Enough Isn’t Enough” narrates the next phase in the story with gluttony, and tells the tale of the priests all-consuming power over the people. Where the first single “What’s Yours Is Mine and What’s Mine Is Mine” depicted greed and the antagonists need to take from the people, this second single builds on that concept as if he’s now figuratively consuming his subjects. Sonically the track is the heaviest on the album as it flaunts a heavy hitting driving force throughout, broken in parts by dynamic contrasts from walls of sound to complete silence to Kit Samin’s haunting vocals accompanied by a complementary piano melody.

The new album will be released Friday 13 March and can be pre-ordered at http://deathbeds.lnk.to/sinner, distributed through Collision Course Records. The album was mixed and mastered by Scottie Simpson (Polaris, Alpha Wolf, Gravemind) and tracked at Colossal Tracks Studios (She Cries Wolf, Days Like These).

Deathbeds will take Sydney band Teeth out on the road with them in March to unleash ‘Sinner’ to a live audience, beginning on Friday 13th in their hometown at The Basement in Canberra with Pillager and Purity. Newcastle will be up next on Thursday 19th March at Hamilton Station Hotel, also with Pillager and Purity, Sydney’s Burdekin Hotel the very next night on Friday 20th March (without Teeth) accompanied by Pillager, Purity and Elision and finally Deathbeds, Teeth and Earthbound will end their short stint in Melbourne at Last Chance Rock N Roll Bar on Thursday 26th March.

Formed in 2015 by guitarist Anthony Hyde, vocalist David Oliver and bassist Marc Beresford, Deathbeds dedicated three years to mastering their craft before they debuted their live show and their current lineup in 2018 consisting of Anthony, David and Marc alongside new members Kit Samin on keys and vocals, Sam Moloney on drums and Benjamin Poulsen on guitar. November 2018 rolled around shortly after and saw the release of the ‘Death‘ EP which was recorded by Calum Johnstone of Honest Crooks.

“Enough Isn’t Enough” is out Friday February 28 and available at all online stores and streaming platforms. Stay tuned for ‘Sinner’, out March 13 – available for pre-order now!

GENGAHR ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR SUPPORTS, MERPIRE AND GREEN BUZZARD

GENGAHR

ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN TOUR SUPPORTS,

MERPIRE AND GREEN BUZZARD

Having just wrapped up their sold-out UK tour, Gengahr are gearing up to kick off their Australian and New Zealand tour next month. With the tour just weeks away, Gengahr today have announced that special guests Green Buzzard will join them in Sydney, with Merpire sharing the stage in Melbourne.

Green Buzzard is the solo project of Sydney musician Paddy Harrowsmith. Across two EPs –  2016’s Eazy, Queezy, Squeezy and 2017’s Space Man Rodeo – and his debut 2019 record Admist the Clutter & Mess, Green Buzzard has melded hooky melodies, fuzzed-out guitars, soaring lead lines and propulsive, almost drum-machine like beats into a sound all his own.

From emotional rollercoasters to fully immersive, indie-rock arrangements, Merpire is the musical brainchild of Riannon Atkinson-Howatt. Conjuring magical moments in both the studio and on stage, Merpire and her predominantly female line-up have supported the likes of Julia Jacklin, Last Dinosaurs, Angie McMahon and Didirri, and entranced crowds at Bigsound, A Festival Called PANAMA and By The Meadow. Merpire will release the next single from her debut album, ‘Heavy Feeling’, this Friday (27 February).

Gengahr released their third full-length album Sanctuary last month. The album was hailed by music press, with triple j choosing it as their Feature Album, Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1 making it his Album For The Weekend, and BBC 6Music featuring it as their Album Of The Day. Amongst these many accolades, Danny Ward from Gengahr has been crowned as having the Sexiest/Smoothest Voice from Jack Saunders on BBC Radio 1’s The Saunders Awards.

Sanctuary features the single ‘Heavenly Maybe’, which is on rotation at triple j, is A-listed at BBC 6 Music, playlisted at BBC Radio 1, and was Greg James’ Tune Of The Week on Radio 1’s Breakfast Show. DIY called the track “a pleasing slice of indie-pop”; and Clash“an ultra-infectious new synth jammer”. The single reached #28 in Spotify’s UK Viral Chart.

DROP NEW SINGLE AHEAD OF

NATIONAL TOUR ALONGSIDE THE BRAVE

Melbourne’s melodic hardcore five-piece, To Octavia, has returned with their brand new heavy-hitter, “They Tell Me They’re With Me“. Along with the single release, the group is set to support The Brave on their upcoming national tour, ‘The Break Out Tourʼ, in early March/April alongside Bad/Love and Sleep Talk.

The single is produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, Rumours, The Last Martyr) and is heavy hitting from the very beginning with catchy hooks and a soaring chorus to create contrast between the light and the shade. “They Tell Me They’re With Me” is about struggling through the feeling of loneliness that comes with the realisation that the people closest to you might not know you at all. The accompanying video has been directed and edited by music cinematographer Colin Jeffs and features the quintet playing through their new track up against the static, old school film effects that Jeffs has mastered.

To Octavia have announced they’ll be joining The Brave on their upcoming Australian tour, which will take the band to Sydney’s Crowbar on Friday March 6, Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on Friday March 13, Crown and Anchor in Adelaide on Saturday March 14 and finally Brisbane’s The Foundry on Saturday April 4 – tickets available at thebraveofficial.com/tour!

To Octavia is comprised of Matt Ashley on vocals, Adam Kirk-Holmes on vocals/bass, Justin Keurntjes and Molly Congreve on guitars and Lucas Keurntjes on drums. The five-piece began playing together in mid-2018 with the release of their debut single, “After All“. Last year brought with it the release of their debut EP ‘Nocturnal‘ which was praised with plays on triple j, has received over 250,000 Spotify streams and was described by Distorted Sound Magazine as “An emotive blend of metalcore, pop and alternative rock that convulses with the requisite confidence any band’s first release should.”

In To Octavia’s whirlwind 2019, they went on to support artists to the likes of Thornhill, Windwaker, SECRETS (USA), Rumours, Wither, Awaken I Am, BLKLST, Far Away Stables and more. Don’t miss them on their upcoming stint across the country with The Brave!

THE RUBENS ANNOUNCE 27-DATE ‘LIVE IN LIFE’ AUSTRALIAN TOUR – THEIR BIGGEST YET!

THE RUBENS

ANNOUNCE 27-DATE ‘LIVE IN LIFE’

AUSTRALIAN TOUR – THEIR BIGGEST YET!

The Rubens are extremely excited to announce their biggest Australian tour to date!  Presented by triple j, the 27-date run will see the five-piece play a combination of metro and regional venues across May – July in celebration of their infectious summer jam, ‘Live In Life’. Tickets on sale to general public Thursday 5 March at 8.00am AEDT.

VIDEO: ‘Live In Life’ by The Rubens

The NSW band will play metro cities for the first time since their 2018 LO LA RU album shows, across venues such as Fortitude Music Hall (Bris), Freo.Social (Freo), The Forum (Melb), and The Enmore Theatre (Syd). After having embarked on 3 regional tours in the past 18 months, the band will be revisiting old regional favourites as well as some towns they’ve never played before, including Bundaberg, Warrnambool, Shepparton and more.

Since its November release, ‘Live In Life’ has been a summer anthem across triple j (#1 most played) & the HIT network, as well as spins across Nova National Late Nights & Triple M National Late Night/Weekends. Elsewhere, the track has been hugely embraced by fans across Spotify & Apple Music, totalling over 7.5 million streams, and generating over 100,000+ Shazams in Australia alone.

Blending their signature hooky choruses with a shadowy undertone, ‘Live In Life’ was co-produced by the band and Konstantin Kersting (Tones & I, Mallrat) & recorded in the same WW2 bunker that birthed their third and most recent album, 2018’s LO LA RU.

Premiered on triple j Breakfast, the world of ‘Live In Life’ follows a person over the course of one night as they come to terms with the gravity of a relationship breakdown. As the sun sets, they’re feeling positive about the next chapter – a feeling that’s quickly swallowed by the weight of regret as night falls, by which point the damage is done and they realise it’s time to move on.

‘Live In Life’ follows the band’s 2019 single ‘Falling Asleep At The Wheel’, a collaboration with US punk-hip hop star Vic Mensa, which was first played by Zane Lowe on Beats 1 and premiered live at last year’s Splendour in the Grass to a packed Amphitheatre at sunset.

The past 12 months has seen The Rubens travel to North America, UK & Europe for headline tours, perform and release their MTV Unplugged Live In Melbourne album, launch their Chucka Buckas initiative + bunker down to write and focus on new music.
2018 proved to be a landmark year for The Rubens, which saw the release of their third album LO LA RU, including hits ‘Never Ever feat. Sarah’ (2 x Platinum), ‘Million Man’(Gold) and ‘God Forgot’, a mammoth headline tour across Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Europe and supporting P!NK on her massive 42-date sell out arena tour of Australia and New Zealand.

Joining The Rubens on their upcoming ‘Live In Life’ tour is Alice Ivy. The artist’s eclectic signature sound spans sample-influenced soul, hip-hop and electronic pop that she brings to life live as a multi-instrumentalist. With her second album set for release mid-2020 and a reputation for explosive live performances, Alice Ivy is fast becoming recognised as one of Australia’s most versatile and exhilarating artists.

Don’t miss your chance to see The Rubens live in 2020!

CLONING

ANNOUNCE NEW SINGLE & VIDEO

‘ALL RISE’ + LAUNCH SHOW ON MARCH 13

Emerging WA band Cloning have today released their ethereal new single All Rise, an introspective track that questions morality and is influenced by Nordic mythology.  The group have also released an impressive self-made cosmic claymation film clip to accompany the song.  To celebrate the release of All Rise, Cloning will be playing an exclusive show at the Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough on March 13.

All Rise pays homage to triphop auteurs Portishead while also evoking influences from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to Radiohead.  Recorded and mixed by Dave Parkin (Gyroscope, Karnivool) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Cage The Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood), this atmospheric track is the perfect soundtrack to a warm, hazy summer, with shining synthesisers, ample mandolin, cinematic guitar and idiosyncratic vocals.  Speaking on the intricate meaning behind the track, guitarist and lead vocalist Felix Parker says, All Rise is about how groups of people can think their intentions are purer than they actually are, and end up committing morally questionable acts in the name of their chosen cause.  It’s also about what gets left in the wake of pursuing a goal and how noble intentions can be corrupted by the pursuit of this goal.  The imagery in the lyrics is influenced by Nordic mythology and stories about the Yggdrasil which is a mythical ash tree at the centre of the cosmos.  I read way too much as a kid and a lot of that just seems to naturally flow into my lyrics.”

Watch ‘All Rise’ below:

Following the Nordic mythology theme, the video for All Rise was cleverly and masterfully worked in-house by the band, from conception to completion, excluding the editing which was completed by Jake Crawford (Psychedellic Porn Crumpets). From set making, to directing, to filming – the band did it all.  With over forty hours of footage filmed over one very long weekend, and after almost setting fire to Felix’s living room twice, the video was taking shape.  We wanted to create visuals that complemented the lyrics and the myths they were influenced by. We came up with the concept first and were trying to think about how we could pull it off. We thought about hiring an animator to make an animation video at first, but we couldn’t afford it. Bevan made stop motion videos as a kid and does photography in his spare time, so we decided to make the video ourselves using Claymation,” explains Felix.  And we are really happy that we decided to do it ourselves because we ended up making something that is way more us than if someone else had done it,” adds guitarist Bevan Green, “But it definitely pushed the limits of our sanity. We spent ages gluing fake leaves to sticks to make trees which is really finicky when you’re dealing with things this small. And we had to be careful when filming not to move the clay figures in the wrong way or knock the camera, because one dodgy photo would ruin the hundreds of photos we had already taken up to that point for the scene.”

Cloning formed among friends Nic Rollo, Felix Parker and Jack Brett during their final years at school.  The untimely loss of a close friend and musician around this time drove them to invest heavily in their musical pursuits.  They were soon joined by guitarist Bevan Green, who grew up in the goldfields mining town of Kalgoorlie; joining the band when he moved to Perth.  Though in relative infancy, Cloning have already been notching up some impressive achievements – touring nationally and scoring a WAM Song of the Year nomination last year – it’s safe to say 2020 is set to be a big year for this talented alternative act out of Perth!

All Rise is out February 3.

Cloning is Felix Parker (lead vocals and guitar), Bevan Green (guitar and vocals), Nic Rollo (bass and vocals), Jack Brett (drums).

GORDI SHARES NEW SINGLE

AND VIDEO ‘SANDWICHES’ + ANNOUNCES

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH

OF MONSTERS AND MEN

Sydney-via-Canowindra musician Gordi, moniker of Sophie Payten, shares her new single, ‘Sandwiches’, and its accompanying Justin Ridler-directed video.

Watch ‘Sandwiches’ video below

Premiering overnight on triple j Good Nights with Bridget Hustwaite, her first single since her triple j J Award-nominated debut Reservoir, ‘Sandwiches’ is a soaring, post-new wave anthem, and a tribute to her late grandmother.

One of the first true Gordi “guitar songs,” it shimmers with the lush-yet-fragile momentum of The Cranberries’ classic ‘Dreams.’ ‘Sandwiches’ follows ‘The Cost’, a track released last month in support of the Australian Bushfire Relief and regional drought efforts, and‘INDIFFERENT’ her haunting collaboration with Willaris. K. Since her 2017 album, Gordi has established herself as a versatile collaborator having released a song with Troye Sivan, toured with Sam Smith, Julien Baker and Fleet Foxes, performed at Eaux Claires residency and festival alongside The National, Bon Iver and Big Red Machine, and PEOPLE Festival in Berlin collaborating with artists like Feist, Damien Rice, Alex Somers and Justin Vernon.  In between she finished her medical degree to become a qualified doctor, following a year of intense hospital placements around Australia.

Gordi called on her long-time collaborators and Bon Iver production duo Chris Messina and Zach Hanson to make ‘Sandwiches’, flying them down with their Wisconsin studio gear to her family home in Canowindra, New South Wales. Setting up in an old cottage littered with some of Sophie’s favorite pieces of musical arsenal combined with some flown in from Justin Vernon’s April Base Studio in Eau Claire. The tiny farm town where her family has lived for over a century, Canowindra, and the heart of the matriarch, is embedded in this song, and where the video was filmed. “Her whole life was in Canowindra…we made it in a house that’s a hundred meters from her house.”

Her late grandmother was, in Gordi’s words, “a great feeder of people”. So when she fell ill, Gordi and her mother took it upon themselves to nourish the visitors gathered around her hospital bed. As they passed around sandwiches, “someone called out that she was gone”.

The gravity of the moment was poignant for its softness and mundanity.  Gordi approaches the totality of a loved one’s life as measured in the small memories that stay with us. She sings, “When I think of you a movie-reel of moments plays / We’ll be in the car or after mass on Saturdays / You’ll be walking down the driveway, you’ll be in your chair / You’ll say ‘See you round’ or ‘Say your “Three”’ / And now you’re everywhere.”

Gordi is currently in Europe supporting British folk-rock duo Bear’s Den, before heading over America to support Icelandic folk-pop band Of Monsters And Men on their six week ‘Fever Dream Tour’ tour.  Sophie recently joined the Icelandic group on stage for a cameo appearance during their recent festival shows at Falls Festival over the 2020 new year period.

OCEAN GROVE ANNOUNCE ‘FLIP PHONE FANTASY’ ALBUM TO BE RELEASED MARCH 13

OCEAN GROVE ANNOUNCE ‘FLIP PHONE FANTASY’ ALBUM TO BE RELEASED MARCH 13

OCEAN GROVE ANNOUNCE

‘FLIP PHONE FANTASY’ ALBUM

TO BE RELEASED MARCH 13 &

UNLEASH NEW SINGLE

‘THOUSAND GOLDEN PEOPLE’

“This is the must-have album of 2020. If you have kids, get it for them. If your mate doesn’t have it, burn them a copy. And if you can’t afford it, download it off Limewire.”

–Dale Tanner

With breakneck anticipation mounting for details on the sophomore album release, Ocean Grove have finally let loose that Flip Phone Fantasy will drop on Friday 13 March. The band are also offering another taste off the record with new track ‘Thousand Golden People’ out now.

Watch ‘Thousand Golden People’ below:

The reveal adds to the melting pot of flavours already lifted in the form of ASK FOR THE ANTHEM‘, ‘SUNNY‘, ‘JUNKIE$‘ and NEO‘. Ocean Grove frontman Dale Tanner explains the album was purposefully crafted to pivot between genres band influences, much like a classic mixtape of the flip phone era “Rather than an album that streamlines in one direction of genre, ‘Flip Phone Fantasy’ has the capacity to be someone’s very own mixtape from start to finish,” he says. “This record is the first of its kind, in that its sheer diversity will appeal to music listeners from all corners of the globe.”

Between the blistering chaos of opener ‘SUPERSTAR’, through to the dreamy haze of closer ‘FREAKS’, Flip Phone Fantasy ploughs through a thoughtfully complex series of moods and bendsrefusing to sit still long enough to be categorised into anything other than pure “Oddworld” music. Whipped and beaten to life over the better part of two years, Ocean Grove – comprising Tanner, bassist Twiggy Hunter, drummer Sam Bassal and guitarist Matt Henley –were determined to see the vision for their second album become fully realised, meticulously self-producing every creative facet they would output.

Following the breakout success of their 2017 debut The Rhapsody TapesFlip Phone Fantasy is undoubtedly yet another defining moment for a band not afraid to harness the weird and wonderful aspects of themselves and the world they inhabit.

“The songs on the album have somewhat of a metaphorical undertone for the futuristic mirror image we hoped to embody by the end of the process. The album is a very intentional blue print for the changes we wanted to see in ourselves.”

– Twiggy Hunter

The turn of the millennium brought with it a technological revolution and a wave of youth caught in the middle of a transitioning world. The flip phone is an iconic time marker that’s placed right in the middle of this exciting revolution. It is the vestigial reminder of a time of ever-growing promise and anticipation of a futuristic world that would soon be literally at our fingertips

It is the ambitious energy and awe of this time that Ocean Grove recalled to create their new album, a technicoloured, hyper-active, sonic ode to retrofuturism: The thoughts and sensibilities of the current era filtered through the lens of yesterday. Or as Ocean Grove have aptly named it, a “Flip Phone Fantasy”.

All members were given unlimited licence to be as them as they could be during the making of their sophomore album. A concerted effort was made to remain as chaotic as possible, all whilst in a humble Melton, Victoria recording studio, void of distraction and external contaminants, with drummer Sam Bassal at the helmof recording, mixing and mastering. Throughout this process, Ocean Grove answered only to the universal truths of the “Oddworld”; their own all-encompassing artistic ecosystem in which curiosity, passion and weirdness prey on the boring, mundane and regressive. Since its inception during the making of their erstwhile debut, The Rhapsody Tapes, The Oddworld has become the spiritual home of all things Ocean Grove and now serves to govern the music, artwork, merchandise and videos spawned from Flip Phone Fantasy

With its stratospheric peaks through to its subterranean troughs, Flip Phone Fantasy refuses to sit still long enough to be categorised. Whipped, chained and beaten by its tyrannical creators –Ocean Grove were determined to see their vision for Album #2 become fully realised, taking the better part of two years to complete and perfect. A defining moment for a band whose success as a whole is based largely on the unique characters of the individuals contained within.

‘SENSE AGAIN’ sees the band use tenants of alt-rock to smuggle a stirring message of severing ties with toxicity –both the chemical and human kind. ‘SUNNY’ plays as though it ought to be bounced off the walls of an arena. ‘GUYS FROM THE GORD’,on the other hand, was built to shake you to your bones in a sweaty nightclub at 3am and ‘BABY COBRA’ sees the smoke, mirrors and distortion dissipate for a moment of vulnerability–-the calm before the storm that is fan-favourite ‘ASK FOR THE ANTHEM’, which we heard as a first warning shot from the record, back in 2019.

“Lyrically, this album is a more evolved perspective of youth experiences, those that define and shape us as adults and give us a compass and anchor for moving forward while being earneston the path to unapologetic authenticity.”

–Dale Tanner

Such ebb and flow between moods, emotions, soundscapes and ideas was a masterstroke from the band, who perfectly captured the intricate nuances of yet another trend that became ubiquitous with the early 2000s but unlike the flip phone, remained current: personalised custom playlists.

Self-discovery, self-worth and self-determination are core themes of Flip Phone Fantasy, as is the difficulty in navigating such vague concepts against a never-ending current of external forces actively steering you in the opposite direction.

A statement just as true for Flip Phone Fantasy, is that the record is specifically crafted as a stimulating listening experience from start to finish…or finish to start…or in whichever way the listener decides to dissect it. To compare Flip Phone Fantasy to Ocean Grove’s previous work is to miss the point entirely. Hell, compare the band to who they were a month ago and you’ll discover purposeful pivots and thoughtful adjustments.

This isn’t a band who have clocked nods of approval and thunderous applause throughout the known world by sticking to what’s safe: Ocean Grove are a band who earn their acclaim by whole heartedly plunging into the unknown.

“Combining futurism with nostalgia, we aim to make our listener feel connected by the familiar, inspired by raw self-expression and intrigued by the unknown. We hope to invigorate and unite both our mature and youth audiences alike.”

–Dale Tanner

A diverse track listing sees all bases covered: from love and lust, to anger and anarchy, to youthful innocence and the realisation of one’s impermanence. Between theblistering chaos of album opener ‘SUPERSTAR’, through to the dreamy haze of closer ‘FREAKS’; Flip Phone Fantasy is yet another

After completing support duties for The Amity Affliction across Australia in January, the band now join the inimitable Crossfaith on their EU/UK tour.

SAVIOUR DROP NEW SINGLE ‘VIOLET’ & ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN ALBUM TOUR DATES

SAVIOUR DROP NEW SINGLE

‘VIOLET’ & ANNOUNCE

AUSTRALIAN ALBUM TOUR DATES

Perth heavy act Saviour are back! Bolder than ever, they are today dropping their new single ‘Violet’ ahead of the impending release of their fourth studio album ‘A Lunar Rose’. ‘A Lunar Rose’ is out this Friday February 28th and is available for pre-order at https://ffm.to/saviour_alunarrose and physical products at http://artistfirst.com.au/collections/saviour. Tickets are also now on sale for their ‘A Lunar Rose’ Australian tour at https://destroyalllines.lnk.to/saviour.

A Lunar Rose is a fitting follow up to previous releases ‘Once We Were Lions’ (2011), ‘First Light To My Deathbed’ (2013) and ‘Let Me Leave’ (2017) and further demonstrates the groups’ ability to create soundscapes that mirror the world around them. New single Violet is a heavy cut from the record – a record that is filled to the brim with light and shade, fragility and aggression and nuance.

The band have also re-launched their official website as a hub for all things Saviour – new music, tour dates and tickets, merch and more at https://www.saviouraustralia.com.

Today, they are also announcing that they will be hitting the road for a national headline tour with support from their mates in Diamond Construct, Blklst & Bloom for a stacked line up from start to finish. The tour starts June 5th in Bunbury then hits Perth for a hometown show on June 6th for weekend #1. Then it heads over to the east coast for the final leg of Adelaide on June 12th, Melbourne on June 13th, Newcastle on June 18th, Brisbane on June 19th, Sydney on June 20th then finishes in the ACT. Tickets are on-sale now through Destroy All Lines!

Vocalist and Songwriter Bryant Best, said that “A Lunar Rose for me is a bleak journey from where the brighter side of life meets the aftermath. I think it captures that reminiscent voice that most people have inside them and gives it real life audio. Listening back to the record, it’s still kind of hard to listen to without feeling a bit torn by the end. It’s an emotional journey where the dark out shadows the light. This album might just be the heaviest Saviour album to date. If it’s not the heaviest, it’s certainly the most aggressive. A Lunar Rose holds real meaning to all of us and it’s one that we are going to be proud of no matter what happens moving forward.

This work is the first major release from the current lineup Bryant Best (vocals), Shontay Snow (keyboard/vocals), Daniel Rees (guitar), Michael Matta (drums) and Chris Pearce (bass). The band have maintained their haunting melodic qualities whilst returning to an emotionally powerful heavy edge, a balance that was vitally important in telling the stories of A Lunar Rose.

Best continued about the record – “Finding the sound direction of A Lunar Rose was something that came easy for us. The elements we all wanted from this record was to keep it heavy, keep it melodic, and keep it heartfelt. At its core, I think A Lunar Rose is a byproduct of that. For us, it feels natural and nothing about it feels forced.

Saviour’s new single ‘Violet’ will be released along with the album ‘A Lunar Rose’ this Friday February 28th 2020, with pre-orders at https://ffm.to/saviour_alunarrose and physical products at http://artistfirst.com.au/collections/saviour. JULIA JACKLIN CRUSHING ONE YEAR ON LIMITED EDITION ‘GREEN & WHITE SPLATTER’ VINYL OUT NOW

JULIA JACKLIN

CRUSHING ONE YEAR ON

LIMITED EDITION

‘GREEN & WHITE SPLATTER’

VINYL OUT NOW

To commemorate one exceptional year since the release of Crushing, the critically acclaimed second full-length album from Julia Jacklin, Liberation Records have released Crushing on a special edition, green and white splatter vinyl with limited copies available now in stores and online here.

It’s clear from the moment it was released that Crushing would resonate with people all around the globe. From the endless scroll of heartbroken comments on her music videos, to the extensive number of features in Best Of 2019 lists, the world formed an emotional connection to Julia’s storytelling centered on bodies, crossed boundaries and smothering closeness.

Last year was also an extraordinary year of touring for Julia Jacklin, with her global sold out headline tours concluded with being flown to Denver by Lana del Rey to perform a duet of her opus ‘Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You’. Starting this week,  Julia Jacklin will perform a run of headline shows in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide as well as festival performances at Nine Lives Festival, Grampian Music Festival, and A Festival Called Panama. Perth’s singer/songwriter Jacob Diamond has been announced as the opening act for Julia’s headline show at The Astor Theatre, Perth on Friday 13 March.  Melbourne is sold out and with final tickets remaining in other cities, fans are encouraged to purchase now to avoid the disappointment of a sold out show.  Tickets on sale now via Frontier.

After what is sure to be an incredible run of shows in Australia, Julia will head over to Tokyo to perform her first ever headline show in Japan, then onto the USA to support The National during their July tour. Julia has also been announced to perform at Splendour In The Grass, as well as Montreal’s Osheaga Festival alongside Kendrick Lamar, Lizzo and Bon Iver.

Following on a Top 10 debut on the Australian ARIA Charts, Crushing was championed worldwide by international tastemakers like Paste Mag, i-D Mag and Rolling Stone. At the time of its release, The Independent gave Crushing a perfect score, describing the album as a ‘masterclass in narrative songwriting’. Julia went on to find fans in Elton John, Kendall Jenner, Madison Beer and Maisy Stella, who all felt compelled to share songs off the album to their millions of followers. Crushing was nominated for six ARIAs including Best Female Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Adult Contemporary Album. A year on, the accolades continue to arrive. Julia Jacklin recently won FBI’s SMAC Album of the Year and has been shortlisted for The Australian Music Prize and APRA Song of the Year.

Produced by Burke Reid (Courtney Barnett, The Drones) and recorded at The Grove Studios, Crushing features Blain Cunneen (guitar), Dominic Rizzo (piano), Clayton Allen (drums), Harry Fuller (bass) and Georgia Mulligan (backing vocals). Julia worked with longtime visual collaborator Nick Mckk to create five stunning music videos; ‘Body’, ‘Comfort’, ‘Pressure To Party’, ‘Head Alone’ and ‘Don’t Know How To Keep Loving You’. Nick was also behind her striking press shots and the iconic album artwork which was nominated for Best Cover Art the ARIAs.

Crushing reveals how our physical experience of the world shapes and sometimes distorts our inner lives and sets Jacklin’s understated defiance against a raw yet luminous sonic backdrop. Throughout Crushing, that sense of confidence manifests in one of the most essential elements of the album: the captivating strength of Jacklin’s lyrics. Not only proof of her ingenuity and artistic generosity, Jacklin’s uncompromising specificity and infinitely unpredictable turns of phrase ultimately spring from a certain self-possession in the songwriting process.

“As I was making this album there was sort of a slow loosening of pressure on myself. There’ve been some big life changes for me over the last few years, and I just found it too tiring to try to cover things up with a lot of metaphors and word trickery. I just wanted to lay it all out there and trust that, especially at such a tense moment in time, other people might want to hear a little vulnerability.” – Julia Jacklin

“Julia Jacklin’s Crushing is exquisite” – Pitchfork

“A profound statement…this year’s strongest singer-songwriter breakthrough.”
– Rolling Stone

“The result is a body of work that looks you in the eye, says what it means, and reflects every part of her.” – The Guardian

“I can’t stop listening to this record.” – Cheryl Waters, KEXP

JAY COOPER RELEASES DEBUT EP INTERIM

JAY COOPER RELEASES DEBUT EP INTERIM

JAY COOPER

RELEASES DEBUT EP INTERIM

Today Australian raised, Canadian based producer Jay Cooper releases his debut EP INTERIM, a concept project about navigating the city as an artist, building and destroying to forge the new. Listen HERE.

Of the EP Cooper says “The concept of INTERIM is navigating a building, one that’s constantly shifting and changing as you move. It’s like urban life, trying to scale this structure and forge a path for yourself.  It’s up to you who you trust and how you move through the levels. It’s a recurring dream I have where I’m in some kind of living & breathing building that’s endless, and everybody I know is in there somewhere. These songs will have views into the basement, as it fills up with water, the elevators, the echoing stairs, the rooftop overlooking the garden maze, the ventilation system, a forgotten outpost, and wings of the building that you weren’t supposed to go to.

INTERIM traverses further into the bleary-eyed RNB of previous singles ‘21 Personnel’, ‘nonethewiser’ and ‘Shallow Anthem‘, taking the time to formally introduce us to Cooper’s world. Inspired by moments of reprieve and reflection on relationships and his career trajectory, the sheer unpredictability of life dawned on Cooper. A lack of roots and being adaptable begs the question, does one rely on their instincts and emotions or stick to what they know? Over eight tracks the EP unpacks how an artist’s creative world is built and deconstructed, what values are compromised or upheld. Ultimately dependant on one’s ability to keep up. Catching himself moving through these motions, INTERIM illustrates the internal conflict of “wondering if you’re acting as a true reflection of yourself, or just another moving part within the building.

Having gained early acclaim under the JaysWays moniker, Cooper’s previous releases have featured on playlists across Spotify, triple j Unearthed and FBi Radio, with support from Pilerats, Purple Sneakers, CLIPPED.TV and more. Since relocating to North America Cooper has worked in collaboration with artists such as Annahstasia, Selasie Wussah, Robert Glasper and Common plus more as a singer-songwriter and producer. His work with Annahstasia on the album Sacred Bull went on to see the artist tour alongside Lenny Kravitz on his Raise Vibration tour. Actively maintaining a steady creative flow, the release of INTERIM demonstrates Jay Cooper’s fierce creative direction and his multidisciplinary abilities continue to shine.

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT | BLACK VEIL BRIDES ANNOUNCE THEIR AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT | BLACK VEIL BRIDES ANNOUNCE THEIR AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR

BLACK VEIL BRIDES
ANNOUNCE THEIR
AUSTRALIAN HEADLINE TOUR

Destroy All Lines are thrilled to announce the return of BLACK VEIL BRIDES for their Australian headline tour which sees them performing in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide in June. Their long-awaited return is the band’s first Australian shows in 6 years.

BLACK VEIL BRIDES have championed the isolated, the dismissed, and the forgotten since the band’s early inception. That ethos and spirit persists in the fully realized incarnation of the band whose image is the object of devotion and obsession, and whose anthems are sung in unison by an international audience, a diverse legion who refuse to surrender.

In an era when rock music is regularly declared “dead,” BLACK VEIL BRIDES music videos have been viewed over a half a billion times. The band (and its members including vocalist, Andy Biersack, who was named as one of the 100 Greatest Living Rock Stars by Revolver) Instagram and Twitter accounts command close to 10 million followers between them.

In late November 2019, BLACK VEIL BRIDES released two brand new songs, The Vengeance + Saints Of The Blood = The Night, on the band’s brand new label, Sumerian Records. “They came, they went, they’re back again–Black Veil Brides exude far more heavy metal tones than they ever did before, and we like it.” said Hysteria Magazine

BLACK VEIL BRIDES have an impressive stack of awards and accolades under their belt with multiple Kerrang! Awards, Revolver Golden Gods Awards and Alternative Press Music Awards. Vale, the group’s most recent full-length album, went to No. 1 on the US Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart.

The band’s tour history reads like a textbook of subcultural mile markers in the modern heavy music scene. An initial hardscrabble headlining outing in 2009 has been followed by multiple mainstage runs on the Vans Warped Tour; tours with Slash, Motley Crue, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine; the massive Resurrection Tour, co-headlined by new labelmates Asking Alexandria; multiple US festivals, including Rock on the Range and Aftershock; and several appearances at the UK’s acclaimed Download Festival.

With a rightful reverence for the pop cultural icons of the past, the young outfit has nevertheless fashioned their own collective future, with relentless fury. In the hearts and minds of their fans, Black Veil Brides represents an unwillingness to compromise and a resistance to critics (personal and professional), fueled by the same fire as the group’s own heroes, the iconoclasts whose creative output, once dismissed, is now canonized.

Be sure to pick up your ticket for one of the hottest tours of the year.

A-TRAK & FERRECK DAWN

UNVEIL DEBUT COLLABORATIVE SINGLE

‘COMING HOME’

A-Trak and Ferreck Dawn join forces to debut their first official collaboration, “Coming Home” on Club Sweat. Shimmering with soulful, swing house influences, complimented by an infectious vocal hook,‘Coming Home’ appeals to beat diggers and beach parties alike.

World renowned artists in their own right, A- Trak a.k.a Alain Macklovitch and Ferreck Dawn, a.k.a Freek Coppens, have blessed our ears over the last few years with a steady stream of hit singles, respectively. First joining together in 2018, saw Ferreck Dawn enlist A-Trak for remix duties on his global hit, ‘In Arms’, which reached the overall #1 spot on Beatport and became one of the most played tracks on Ibiza during the summer, garnering over 50 million streams.

Discussing the new single and how it came together, Ferreck says, “I’ve always been a fan of Alain’s work. This past summer Alain spent a few days in London and we sat down to work on this track. I think it’s a very cool combination of Alain’s typical clever sample hooks and my beats and arrangement. I’m very happy with how this track turned out”

A-Trak is the quintessential cultural connector, his 20-year musical path has seen him take turns as an internationally renowned turntablist, founder of the iconic label Fool’s Gold, Grammy-nominated producer, innovative remixer and much more. Alain elaborates, “I remixed “In Arms” last year and was really fascinated by that track. Like, how did these guys get that crazy low end? I think half the fun of linking up with a producer for a collab is just exchanging tricks and seeing how we each work. It was a fun session and I think you can hear that excitement in this song”

SYDNEY BASED RECORD LABEL, SOUL MODERN ANNOUNCE THEIR LAUNCH AND DEBUT RELEASE FROM RNB ARTIST WILSONN

SYDNEY BASED RECORD LABEL, SOUL MODERN ANNOUNCE THEIR LAUNCH AND DEBUT RELEASE FROM RNB ARTIST WILSONN

SYDNEY BASED RECORD LABEL,

SOUL MODERN

ANNOUNCE THEIR LAUNCH

AND DEBUT RELEASE

FROM RNB ARTIST WILSONN

To celebrate emerging talent within the neo-soul and RnB scene, new Sydney based record label Soul Modern officially launches. Brought to life by the team behind Australia’s longest running independent dance label, Central Station Records and steered by experienced A&R, Archie Magliulo (Starley ‘Call On Me’, 4 x platinum),Soul Modern aims to cultivate a hub for emerging and rising talent from Australia and abroad within the soul sphere.

Archie elaborates on the vision behind Soul Modern, “Naturally we are very excited about the launch of our brand new imprint, Soul Modern. It’s exactly as the name suggests; a home for all things Soul, RnB and groove based music, using a modern twist. Within our flourishing Australian scene alone, there are so many soul-stirring new artists that we will be focusing on as we grow the label, stay tuned”.

For the debut release on the label, Soul Modern welcomes RnB artist, Wilsonn with the release of ‘Standing Floors’. The Sydney artist has been making waves with his charming and buttery vocals, drawing influence from the likes of Frank Ocean, Miguel, Daniel Caesar and H.E.R, making him a quintessential match for Soul Modern. Adding their RnB textures and groovy production to the vibrant new single, is Grammy nominated duo Christian Rich, who have produced and co-written records for the likes of Childish Gambino, Drake, Earl Sweatshirt, Lizzo and Kanye.

Watch ‘Standing Floors’ Below:

The single about persistence and never giving up, Wilsonn elaborates: “’Standing Floors’ was written for the Warriors of this world. The outcasts, the dreamers, the ones who take no for an answer, whether it be in struggles in personal life or professional life, The ones that are never afraid of failing to grow!  This song is for them, the ones who never give up!!”

Wilsonn’s infectious vocals began earning praise back in 2017 when he released his mixtape titled ‘Idiocentric’, which led the artist to be recognised by a number of major online outlets including The Music Ninja, EDM Sauce, and This Song Slaps. Turning heads within the Australian RnB scene, he’s gone on to further embed himself as an eclectic singer, songwriter and producer, releasing his debut single ‘Even If I Know’ in 2018, which scored blog support from Earmilk, EDM Sauce and Stoney Roads. Outside of his own singles, he’s continued to write records for various artists including Mau5trap artist Attlas for ‘Batch’ which went top #10 on Billboard electronic charts.
