ROMANIE ANNOUNCES ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM ‘ARE WE THERE YET?’

ROMANIE

ANNOUNCES ANTICIPATED

DEBUT ALBUM

ARE WE THERE YET?’

Releases captivating title track, showcasing Romanie at her most honest.

Romanie’s power lies in her storytelling – her ability to see the world beyond the noise and channel her introspections into piercingly relatable yet beautiful songs. Her latest single ‘Are We There Yet?’ taps into the nuanced feeling of being never enough, of always striving for the next thing. With this she primes the landscape for her debut album ‘Are We There Yet?’ – a body of work exploring the intricacies and intensity of time itself.

“The idea for the song came from a prominent feeling in my life where I always feel like I’m looking towards the next goal, dreaming about the next thing. Always running out of time and feeling like seconds are slipping through my fingers. Especially throughout lockdown, I felt like I was aging but nothing else was happening and I got so frustrated by what felt like missed opportunities.” Romanie

Collaborating once again with acclaimed producer Alex O’Gorman (Angie McMahon, BATTS), Romanie has also taken on a co-production role for the single. Mastering was skillfully handled by Isaac Barter (Alex The Astronaut, Didirri).

The single ‘Are We There Yet?’  serves as the centerpiece of Romanie’s forthcoming debut album. Inspired by a sense of perennial restlessness and the constant pursuit of personal goals, it captures the inner struggle of being perpetually fixated on the future. Feeling the weight of stagnation and a deep frustration with missed opportunities during the lockdown period, she imbues a genuine and palpable urgency within the song.

Initially uncertain about the song’s completion, Romanie revisited her creative process a year later when she stumbled upon an old voice memo that bore the question, “Are We There Yet?” – with a new found mindset of brutal honesty she was able to re-craft the single with piercing authenticity.

For ‘Are We There Yet?’ this approach definitely was a great vibe – I wanted it to feel like the song was rushed, as if you’re always on edge. I still wanted it to be a playful song, imagining my 10 year old self sitting in my mom’s car and asking 50 million times ‘are we there yet? when will we arrive?’ – as if that would get me my answer when I’d have made it in the music industry or life in general,” Romanie

The forthcoming album, “Are We There Yet?,” is a heartfelt tribute to Romanie’s fixation on time and marks a significant turning point as a song-writer. Throughout the creative process, Romanie found inspiration and guidance through School of Song workshops and her friend Kate Davis, whose mentorship allowed her to tap into the raw essence of her writing. It was during this time that Romanie shared some DIY voice memos with Alex O’Gorman, prompting an immediate decision to embark on the album-making journey together.

“The whole album is basically an ode to my obsession with time, timing and movement in space and time. Being uncomfortable and real, it’s the first time I’ve been completely honest with myself throughout writing songs and saying things as they are without trying to be poetic or trying to impress someone.” Romanie

MELBOURNE’S EMILY VICTORIA DROPS SECOND SINGLE ‘MEMORISE’ AN ETHEREAL INDIE POP DELIGHT

MELBOURNE’S EMILY VICTORIA DROPS SECOND SINGLE ‘MEMORISE’ AN ETHEREAL INDIE POP DELIGHT

MELBOURNE’S EMILY VICTORIA

DROPS SECOND SINGLE

MEMORISE

AN ETHEREAL INDIE POP DELIGHT

An undulating ode to the shifting of time, memory and the world around us, Melbourne singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Emily Victoria returns with a sublime new dream pop-laced single Memorise, also accompanied by an exquisitely filmed and edited photobook-inspired music video.

Expansive, dreamy and magnetically heartfelt, Memorise finds Emily drawing inspiration from a range of specific artists and songs, including Massive Attack’s Unfinished Sympathy, Acopia’s Holding On, Purient’s WBWU, and City Moon’s Love Spirals Downwards. A lush dreamy pop universe steeped with moments of soft melodics, warm fuzz and angelic synths, the journey to the ultimate release of Memorise was also deeply shaped by the impact of time on memories, reflected by the ever-changing seasons themselves, as Emily elaborates, Memorise is about time passing and the seasons changing. As we move forward, memories are distant…how consistent are visions of an event that occurred many years ago? What images are we reflecting on? And it’s also about nature following a cyclic progression. My intention was to compose a song that resembled a cycle structurally. There are no defined sections, the verse unfolds into the chorus and then the chorus concludes sooner than anticipated and the beginning of the idea surfaces again (round and round). Like a clock. Every time the cycle recommences, new paths are explored thus new lyrics, instrumental layers and additions surface. Like memories, culminating in new layers of thought, connections made, ideas appear.”

Produced by Nao Anzai and Lewis Moody and Gareth Thomson (vocal production) and mastering by Seb Moomin, with additional instrumentation provided by Anthony Farrugia, Jacob Long, Lewis Moody and Sam Clarke, Memorise also vividly comes to life via its accompanying music video Directed by Brendan Schoenmaker alongside a stellar team, the clip captures the visualisation of memory itself, with inspiration taken from photobooks as well as the work of Alexandra Savior and films A Ghost Story and Bones. From filming at 5am on beaches earlier this year to careful colour consideration, the clip seamlessly links to Emily’s sharp lyricism and the track’s overarching dream-like state, as Brendan explains, “The video explores the haunting ability of memories as well as its fleeting and corruptible nature. The concept is built off the idea that memory is constantly being rewritten with every recall leaving us with the gist of something faded.” Offering further insight, Emily notes, “In the clip, an individual visits some of their memories – images of them in a red dress (a lively colour resembling life), wandering lonely landscapes. The occasional appearance of a mannequin blurs the lines between individual and mannequin.”

Marking Emily’s second release following her most recent single Humming Heart, which has been streamed over 300,000 times, went to #1 in Latvia and was selected as Brag Media’s feature video of the week upon release earlier this year, Memorise is a matured and exceedingly polished addition to the Emily Victoria burgeoning repertoire. An accomplished vocalist, cellist, guitarist and pianist, Emily’s creative pursuits to date has seen her awarded an AMRAP Women In Music mentorship, currently mentoring under Chrissie Vincent, as well as multiple projects and performances in her wake since 2013, including performing with her high school band My Tree Origin launching an experimental jazz quartet, releasing an EP The Creature You Are in 2018, and harnessing her dream pop prowess as of 2020 under the moniker Emily Victoria. From studying classical cello in her youth to now spreading her creative wings further than ever, Memorise is a delectable continuation as much as it has been a pivotal juncture to future endeavours, as Emily concludes, “I am so in love with this song. From writing the lyrics on Chapel Street a few years ago to shooting the video clip at 5am at Emerald Beach NSW earlier this year, Memorise has taught me so much and taken me on a journey. There has been so much growth.”

BELOVED ROCK BAND SHARES
FIRST NEW TRACK IN FOUR YEARS

SIGNS TO FANTASY RECORDS

Rock powerhouse Taking Back Sunday: John Nolan (lead guitar, piano, vocals), Adam Lazzara (lead vocals), Shaun Cooper (bass), and Mark O’Connell (drums) shared a brand-new track and video entitled, The One, the multi-platinum selling rock band’s first new music in over four years. An inspiring declaration of love, hope, and acceptance, The One is a soaring reminder to seize the moment and live your dreams while you still can. Listen to The One HERE. In the track’s accompanying video, directed by DJay Brawner, the band primes for the next gig and new roads that lay ahead—inviting us along for the mystery ride.

Watch the official video for The One here:

Produced by Tushar Apte (Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj), and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers), The One finds the influential rock band flexing its creative muscles and evolving its sound without ever losing sight of the explosive riffs, affecting vocals, and epic choruses that has resonated with their audiences for so long. The anthemic new track also marks the band’s first release for Fantasy Records, the L.A based indie label who signed the influential quartet to a world-wide recording contract earlier this year.

The One is a sweet love song—full on John Cusack holding a boombox,” the band says in a nod to the classic 80’s cinema moment in Say Anything“We’ve been waiting a long time to share this song and we’re so excited that we finally can. We hope you love it as much as we do.”

On the track’s deeper meaning, the band explains, “This song came from a riff that Shaun Cooper wrote the day he lost his grandmother while she was in a nursing home at the start of the Covid pandemic. Devastated with overpowering sadness, he found comfort in writing music and initially titled the riff ‘Posivibes’ in an effort to find some light through the darkness. He never shared the story of the title or how that riff came together with us until after it was complete. Shaun didn’t want his story affecting the ultimate meaning of the song, because it’s actually an uplifting one.”

For over two decades, Taking Back Sunday has cultivated a massive, dedicated fanbase built around music that reverberates with supreme sincerity, desire, and connection. Originally from Long Island, NY, the band brought mature songcraft and pop sensibilities to punk’s rigid conformity, helping expand the genre’s contours while carrying the band to new heights.

TASH SULTANA ANNOUNCES SUGAR EP OUT 11th AUGUST + EPIC NEW TRACK “BITTER LOVERS” FEATURING BJ THE CHICAGO KID

TASH SULTANA ANNOUNCES SUGAR EP OUT 11th AUGUST + EPIC NEW TRACK “BITTER LOVERS” FEATURING BJ THE CHICAGO KID

TASH SULTANA

ANNOUNCES SUGAR EP OUT 11th AUGUST + EPIC NEW TRACK

BITTER LOVERS

FEATURING BJ THE CHICAGO KID

Tash Sultana is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, singer-songwriter, engineer, and entrepreneur who is making waves with the announcement of their upcoming EP, SUGAR, set to be released on 11th August 2023 through their own label, Lonely Lands Records and available for pre-order now. Tash has withheld releasing any new projects for over two years intentionally. Fans will hear a teaser of an “album cut in half”.

Following the release of “James Dean” and “New York”, “Bitter Lovers” takes a different turn with a collaboration featuring American soul RnB artist BJ The Chicago Kid, scheduled for release on July 5th, 2023.

Tash Sultana and BJ The Chicago Kid unveil their remarkable collaboration, “Bitter Lovers”, a track that showcases their combined exceptional chemistry and creative synergy. The journey began when BJ shared a demo with Tash during their tour in September of last year. “This was one I had in the stash waiting for a good home, or I would use it myself. So happy Tash loved it as much as myself. This one will only get better with time,” says BJ. Reflecting on their collaboration, Tash Sultana explains, “Pretty sure it’s like any typical modern-day music collab. We had been following each other for a while cause I’m a fan of what he does, and lo and behold, one morning, I woke up, and there was a nice little message in my DM’s from BJ saying, ‘let’s fucking do a track.’ Now here we are.”

Tash began working on the track in their own studio, LONELY LANDS STUDIO laying down the verse and chorus harmonies and flipping the ending with beat sampling, heavy basslines, and a sax solo. But the missing piece wasn’t filled until February 2023, with the final touches laid in person at a famous Los Angeles studio. Bj’s verse was crafted on the spot, and the harmonies were laid before the verse, an interesting approach to working almost completely backwards.

“It means something different to both of us, which is why we decided to split a verse each and come together in the chorus. For me, some people just think you’re going to be waiting around forever, in any capacity, friend, lover, or family member. I got boundaries with people, and that’s what I’m getting at in this track.” Tash explains.

Tash Sultana, a renowned creative force, is set to captivate fans with their upcoming EP SUGAR, which they unsurprisingly co-engineered, produced, composed, arranged and played every single instrument on; the release embodies their commitment to innovation and artistic exploration. With a refreshing perspective on their latest project, described as a combination of past, present and future workings.

Regarding the EP’s theme, Tash reveals that it serves as a reflection piece, encapsulating their life from 2021 to 2023. It is a captivating storytelling experience incorporating cryptic wording and musical style, leaving the true message open to interpretation. Tash ensures that no one will ever fully disclose the message.

As for the creative process, Tash wrote the songs for the EP in the comfort of their own home, studio, and mind, with their notebook serving as a creative companion throughout the journey. This intimate environment allowed Tash to explore their musical vision and bring it to life fully.

Fans of Tash Sultana can expect a mature approach in this EP, as it artfully blends sonics of past works NOTION, Flow State and Terra Firma. Tash skillfully weaves these elements together, imparting the lessons learned from the present moment. With their unique blend of musicality and introspection, Tash Sultana will continue to captivate and inspire fans, delivering a transformative and deeply meaningful experience with their new EP SUGAR on 11th August 2023.

SHARES NEW SINGLE

A LITTLE BIT FURTHER

Writer, producer and composer Tourist returns with a brand new single ‘A Little Bit Further’, out now on all streaming platforms via the artists own imprint Monday Records. The track is accompanied by the official visualiser directed by Erin McConaghy.

Following the success of his fourth studio album ‘Inside Out’, the British producer makes a triumphant return with his latest track ‘A Little Bit Further’, sampling ‘Song For Wilde’ from one of his favourite artists Mark Fry. He infuses the psych rock as a juxtaposition across his ever evolving yet unmistakable electronic sound in this fast building dance record with emotive vocals that take you on a euphoric sonic voyage. He adds: “having finished the track, I actually emailed Mark himself and sent him the record – not only did he respond but he said he liked it and was happy for me to include it on my next album. This track is not only a testament to being inspired by others but also forming friendships through art, it’s a declaration of hope and love.” Breathy vocals build with the rolling beats to create a piece of music suited for the dance floors as well as those long drives, administering a sound that’s so vital in these times. There’s something timeless in the music Tourist makes yet so refreshing all at once, it’s no wonder his fan base is so loyal yet manages to amass new ones along the way.

After the enormous success of his last album ‘Inside Out’, with praise across the breadth of the global music media – including Clash, Bandcamp, This Song Is Sick, Stoney Roads, Music Tech and more – the UK-based producer went on to tour the world and wow crowds far and wide with his live shows. Entering his eleventh year of releasing music under the Tourist alias, he continues to remix for the likes of Flume, Chistine and The Queens, Wolf Alice, Deftones, CHVRCHES, Sophia Koutesis, Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd. Showing no signs of slowing down he continues to grow with every year and has gone on to pick up a Grammy, co-write ‘Stay With Me’ for Sam Smith, sell out dates and festival appearances. Tourist once again shows he’s here to stay and looks set for another huge year.

RELEASE BRAND NEW SINGLE

SHOTGUN WEDDING

TOURING THIS OCTOBER & NOVEMBER
WITH HEVENSHE + THE BEAUTIFUL MONUMENT

From adorning countless Myspace pages in the early 2000s to proving that pop punk is alive and well decades later, beloved Budgewoi rockers Short Stack are back in sparkling form with a 90s-soaked bop courtesy of their latest single Shotgun Wedding, out now via UNFD.

Inspired by the band’s own formative listening and overflowing with buoyant beats, affable melodics and lyrics that’ll hurl you headfirst back to days of first loves and heartbreaks, Shotgun Wedding balances glossy pop sensibilities with carefully crafted vigour in textbook Short Stack fashion.

Listen to Shotgun Wedding here:

“We wanted to write a really fun, 90s pop punk song influenced by the bands we grew up listening to,” shares vocalist Shaun Diviney“blink-182, NOFX, Good Charlotte kind of vibes. We really wanted it to be fast and energetic, I love Bradie’s drums just powering through the whole song.”

Since first forming in the early 2000s, Short Stack have amassed a dizzying array of accolades, including being dubbed Channel V Oz Artist of the Year twice (in 2008 and 2010), scoring Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Fave Aussie Band in 2010, an ARIA #1 for their debut album Stack Is the New Black, with plenty of gold and platinum-selling singles along the way.

Following a break-up in 2012, a brief formation and second break-up in 2014 and 2015 respectively, a jubilant Short Stack reunion in 2020 ultimately led to the band’s 2022 studio album Maybe There’s No Heaven. Amalgamating the trio’s colourful decade-long career with a renewed creative lease on life, Short Stack truly soared to sensational heights on their latest album, blending hooky bangers, sharp execution and searing authenticity into an 11 track masterpiece – and all entirely on their own terms.

Following a sold-out capital city comeback tour in 2022, Short Stack are also now primed to embark on a regional Australian tour for the first time in over a decade. With more polish and power than ever before, the band will work their way around the country this October and November with special guests Hevenshe and The Beautiful Monument. In 2023, the Stack is well and truly back.

A process that saw Kee’ahn and Donovan evolve together over Zoom yarns and multiple demo versions along the way, Take No More showcases the immense talent and connectivity between the pair, while firmly paving the way for a slew of important releases yet to come as part of Singing Our Futures. The stunning instrumentation on display throughout the new single is powerfully elevated via the decisive thematic essence driving Take No More, as Kee’ahn explains, “We started writing Take No More around Invasion Day Jan 26th. Both of us were feeling a lot of emotions that come with the date and feeling inspired by grassroots mob who organise to educate and liberate our peoples. We spoke about how our leaders across generations stand strong and staunch against ongoing challenges, the act of carrying the torch forward passed down from your elders so our future generations can do the same or ideally won’t have to at all. We spoke about solidarity and how liberation is a joint fight with many hands needed. It also feels like this song has grown over the year, during which time beautiful Black leaders and changemakers have passed on into dreaming – this song feels dedicated to them. To Uncle Archie Roach and Aunty Ruby Hunter and to Uncle Jack Charles. They inspire me/us to sing our truth for our past, present and futures.”

A meaningful and culturally safe songwriting program that supports young First Nations artists to tell their story through songwriting, Singing Our Futures was devised pre-COVID and was one of the leading programs of the Archie Roach Foundation. Led by Candice Lorrae (The Merindas), an established singer-songwriter and music producer with Jawoyn and Torres Strait Islander roots, Singing Our Futures has evolved into an impactful and ever-growing initiative for emerging artists and storytelling that spans genres and generations. And, as Lorrae explains, the program itself is set to prosper further into 2023 and beyond, “Uncle Archie wanted to establish a program that supported our young artists in their songwriting and recording journeys. The program builds important connections for the young artists within the music industry. Singing Our Futures has seen five emerging artists receive mentoring from some of the country’s leading First Nations legends including Emily Wurramurra, Dan Sultan, Emma Donovan and Dobby. Kee’ahn, Kiwat Kennell, Ridzy Ray, Maylene Yinarr and Madi Colville-Walker have each recorded stunning new works through the Singing Our Futures program and together have supported and performed alongside each other, sharing their musical journey’s, culture, and their dreams for the future at the Port Fairy Folk Festival, BIGSOUND, St Kilda Festival and Byron Bay Bluesfest. We are super excited to be releasing an EP through Cooking Vinyl Australia scheduled for later this year.”

An acclaimed ARIA Award-nominated and award-winning Indigenous artist, Emma Donovan first set foot on stage with her renowned family band The Donovans, with Donovan performing church song renditions alongside her mother Agnes, her five uncles and maternal grandparents Micko and Aileen. Part of the famed Donovan family singers of the Gumbaynggirr people on her mother’s side, and of the Yamatji people on her father’s side, Donovan has toured and performed with the likes of Paul Kelly, The Teskey Brothers, Yothu Yindi, The Meltdown and Jen Cloher, as well as with the late Uncle Archie Roach and Aunty Ruby Hunter. From her work with Melbourne rhythm combo The Putbacks as well as The Black Arm Band, Donovan is armed with swoon-worthy vocals, intimate storytelling and a commanding grasp on everything from funk to blues, soul and beyond; and it’s little wonder that Donovan has been dubbed one of Australia’s finest artists.

The official celebration of the release of Take No More and the launch of Singing Our Futures will take place on Thursday July 13, with all proceeds going to The Archie Roach Foundation to honour Uncle Archie Roach’s legacy, and to also support the continuation of programs for the next generation of First Nations Artists. Donovan will lead this unforgettable evening, topped off with a stunning performance of Take No More by Donovan and Kee’ahn, as Kee’ahn reveals: “Fans can expect a new chapter in my music journey! One that tells the story of writing Take No More with sis Emma and exploring and expanding my lyricism and musicality with her mentorship and inspiration of strength! But also an experience that is joyful and connective. I’m looking forward to celebrating this music with community and everyone who made it happen.”

Take No More is out now via Cooking Vinyl Australia.

The Singing Our Futures EP will be released later this year.

Release Brand New Track

 St. Charles Square

BRAND NEW ALBUM
The Ballad of Darren
Out July 21

ONE WEEK UNTIL BLUR TAKE WEMBLEY STADIUM
With support from Sleaford Mods, Self Esteem, Jockstrap, Paul Weller and The Selecter

With just over a week to go until blur take the stage for two unmissable shows at Wembley Stadium, the band today dropped ‘St. Charles Square’, the latest track to be released from their highly-anticipated brand new album The Ballad of Darren, out 21st July on Parlophone.

“I fucked up, I’m not the first to do it.” – St. Charles Square

The opening line of ‘St. Charles Square’ is already firmly established as a crowd favourite, with audiences enthusiastically roaring along with Damon Albarn as the band blaze their new songs across Europe this summer. The song’s chorus recalls the discordant art-pop swagger of earlier work and sees Albarn queasily exclaim “cause there’s something down here, and it’s living under the floorboards” encircled by backing vocals that compound the sense of encroaching peril and a quintessentially marauding guitar turn from Graham Coxon.

Eight years since their chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), blur made a surprise return 6 weeks ago with the release of ‘The Narcissist’, racking up over 10m global streams – and counting – with a song which The Guardian (4/5 stars) describes as sounding like “…Blur have never been away”. Blur were most definitely back the moment Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree burst onto the stage for an electric live return at their first warm-up and first-ever show at Colchester Arts Centre in Essex on 19th May. With further shows in Eastbourne, Wolverhampton and Newcastle and now on the road in Europe, blur will have already performed their iconic and much-loved songs – along with new tracks ‘The Narcissist and St. Charles Square’ – to more than 2 million ecstatic fans across Europe by the time they take stage for their first-ever Wembley Stadium shows in London in just over a week.

The band will welcome old friend and special guest Phil Daniels for a very special guest appearance on both nights at Wembley Stadium, with Sleaford Mods joining the line-up for the sold-out Saturday 8th July along with critically acclaimed English singer-songwriter and Mercury Prize nominee Self Esteem and London-based electro-pop duo Jockstrap. Sunday 9th July will see Paul Weller and The Selecter open for blur, with DJs Steve Davis and John Doran & Kavus Torabi also set to entertain the crowds at what promises to be two unmissable summer nights in the capital.

The band’s headline show on Saturday 8th July at Wembley Stadium sold out in minutes, with a second and final show added for Sunday 9th July. Last remaining tickets available via Ticketmaster.

About The Ballad of Darren

NOTHING BUT THIEVES RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘DEAD CLUB CITY’

NOTHING BUT THIEVES RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘DEAD CLUB CITY’

NOTHING BUT THIEVES

RELEASE NEW ALBUM

DEAD CLUB CITY

Today Nothing But Thieves have released their highly anticipated fourth album ‘Dead Club City’ via RCA/Sony, which features the recent singles ‘Welcome to the DCC’ and ‘Overcome’ alongside new single and album focus track ‘Tomorrow Is Closed’ and follows their 2020 charting topping album ‘Moral Panic’. A decade into their career, the band have never sounded as vital, inspired and blisteringly adventurous as they do on Dead Club City – welcome to the new era of Nothing But Thieves.

With socially insightful lyrics and an adept ability to progress their sound and experiment between the diverse genres that shape them as a band, Nothing But Thieves showcased their more sonically leftfield sound and made a statement return with the first single from the album ‘Welcome to the DCC’, marking an innovative new chapter with their fourth record ‘Dead Club City’. ‘Welcome to the DCC’ was A-List on Radio 1 and Radio X and has also become the band’s biggest ever airplay track to date. Recent single and epic pop track ‘Overcome’ is currently B-List on Radio 1 and the band recently performed both tracks at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee.

Through their new 11-track album ‘Dead Club City’, the band showcase their city-sized members only club and the album’s track list and overall narrative is formed by different characters and story arcs from in and around the city. Is it a shared consciousness? Another planet? The next corporate wasteland? Heaven? Or somewhere else?

Using the club as a focal point, it is easy to imagine the real-world meaning behind Dead Club City. Themes such as advertisement, unity, internet culture, the music industry, ageing and politics, as well as escapism and change are highlighted by the alienation or privilege of a members only club. Creatively engineered by the band themselves, the stories, themes and connections across ‘Dead Club City’ have been revealed in the lead-up to the album through songs, videos and artwork to showcase the overall concept behind the record.

Recorded and self-produced by Nothing But Thieves guitarist Dom Craik alongside John Gilmore (production, engineering) and Mike Crossey (mixing) over six months at Kyoto Studios in Essex, the 11 songs are vividly alive with big ideas, pop hooks, soul flourishes, hip hop beats, crunchy riffs and Conor’s remarkable vocals. Alongside recent singles ‘Welcome to the DCC’ and ‘Overcome’ and instant great track ‘Keeping You Around’, the album includes the epic and intriguing prog-funk track ‘Pop The Balloon’, which brings a heavier side to the album as its closer, the playful and glam ‘City Haunts’, which showcases a new side to Conor’s vocal with a slinky and soulful falsetto, and the stirring rock anthem and album focus track ‘Tomorrow Is Closed’ conveys a backdrop to the whole record with the overarching theme of wanting to escape and find somewhere new.

The full tracklisting is below:

Dead Club City:

  1. Welcome to the DCC
  2. Overcome
  3. Tomorrow Is Closed
  4. Keeping You Around
  5. City Haunts
  6. Do You Love Me Yet?
  7. Members Only
  8. Green Eyes :: Siena
  9. Foreign Language
  10. Talking To Myself
  11. Pop The Balloon

Nothing But Thieves are Conor Mason (vocals, guitars), Joe Langridge-Brown (guitars), Dominic Craik (guitars, keyboard), Philip Blake (bass guitar) and James Price (drums).

About Nothing But Thieves:

The past few years have been quite a ride for Southend five-piece Nothing But Thieves. Amassing over 1.2 million worldwide album sales, 2 billion worldwide streams and 250 million video views, they have built up a loyal and wide following for their impactful alt rock sound and achieved global success with multiple gold and platinum records around the world, including Australia, Russia, Netherlands, South Korea and Poland. Their first two albums ‘Nothing But Thieves’ and ‘Broken Machine’ are both now gold in the UK.

In 2020, they released their third album ‘Moral Panic’, which charted at #3 achieving over 320 million streams and saw support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Virgin Radio and Radio X alongside winning Best Indie Act at Global Radio’s 2021 Awards. The album is now certified Silver and they followed this later that year with ‘Moral Panic II’, with both projects forming ‘Moral Panic (The Complete Edition) in 2021. ‘Moral Panic’ followed their 2018 EP ‘What Did You Think When You Made Me This Way’, their 2017 acclaimed album ‘Broken Machine’, which charted at #2 in the UK album chart, and their debut self-titled album ‘Nothing But Thieves’.

Behind the new track PANIA reveals, “’BURNA FONE’ was written on my recent writing trip in London with UK legend Toddla T. I went into the studio knowing I wanted to make something different and fun, and to bridge the gap between Melbourne and the UK. ‘BURNA FONE’ was what we came out with.”3

‘BURNA FONE’ follows the release of PANIA’s recent single “All Mine” in May which marked a new chapter for the R&B frontrunner. PANIA set the pace for 2023 supporting Grammy-nominated artist Kehlani on multiple Australian tour dates in January, with the release of her double single P PACK coinciding with her performance at Melbourne’s iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Featuring power-playa anthem “P STANDS 4 PLAYA” and short and sweet “2sides (freestyle)”P PACK caught the attention of Vogue, Spectrum, Acclaim, Take Flight, Fashion Journal, Women In Pop, Happy Mag and more, with Red Bull hailing her as an Australian artist to watch in 2023.

Over the weekend, Spotify Australia and New Zealand also unveiled PANIA as the next artist as part of their RADAR program. Check out PANIA’s RADAR Billboard in Melbourne here.

Before performing as part of Live Nation’s coveted Ones To Watch series in March, PANIA travelled to London to write new material – some of which is set to debut later this year. PANIA has also been confirmed as part of Sydney’s inaugural SXSW lineup, taking place this October.

Having received widespread acclaim for her debut 2022 EP burnt ur clothes & changed the addyPANIA has well and truly cemented her place at the forefront of Australia’s swiftly growing R&B scene. Off the back of the release, PANIA performed sold out shows in Melbourne and Sydney, with the latter in such hot demand that hopeful punters were listening in from outside of the venue. 2022 also saw PANIA perform at Listen Out festival, land a billboard in New York City’s Times Square as a Spotify EQUAL AU Ambassador, and have her compelling debut single “ICYY” along with fan-favourite track “tiki” featured in Netflix’s hit series Heartbreak High.

An emerging player in the fashion scene, PANIA has also been turning heads and topping best dressed lists at her red-carpet appearances – including The ARIAsNGV Gala and The Little Mermaid Premiere – for her innovative, future-focused style. PANIA was also selected as the face of Platypus’ 2022 holiday campaign, which saw her feature on storefronts across Australia and New Zealand alongside a filmed campaign. PANIA continues to be a part of the Converse Allstars.

DREAM ON DREAMER CELEBRATE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF 2013 ALBUM LOVELESS

DREAM ON DREAMER CELEBRATE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF 2013 ALBUM LOVELESS

DREAM ON DREAMER
CELEBRATE 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
OF 2013 ALBUM

LOVELESS

WITH RE-RECORDED SINGLE “HEAR ME OUT II”
AND THE 10 YEAR LOVELESS ANNIVERSARY TOUR IN AUGUST

There’s been no love lost for Melbourne alt metalcore icons Dream on Dreamer since the beloved group announced their disbandment back in 2020. And in 2023, fans are in for a treat not only with a special 10-year reunion tour this August celebrating a decade since the release of the band’s sophomore album Loveless, but with a re-recorded version of “Hear Me Out”; a track that truly put Dream on Dreamer on the map and solidified their optimistic brand of heartfelt heaviness.

Setting Dream on Dreamer apart from the pack as they discovered their sonic identity, “Hear Me Out II” galvanized the Melbourne group’s dedication to finding a point of difference in a scene often dominated by darkness and melancholia. While many of their peers have found the formula of writing songs that identify the feelings of depression, Dream on Dreamer painstakingly sought to not romanticize these negative ideas, instead aiming to offer hope and inspiration.

Hailed as “one of the most well received” songs from the band’s live set and back catalogue, “Hear Me Out” originally relished in lush reverberation, glistening instrumentation, oscillating light and shade, and towering emotion, with the brand new version, “Hear Me Out II” offering a glossy glow-up that packs a crisp evolution without sacrificing the charm of the original.

“When we wrote this song, we tried to be as honest as we could possibly be at the time,” Dream on Dreamer share, revisiting “Hear Me Out.” “We’ve all been at a point in our lives when every ripple feels like a hungry wave just waiting to devour us. Where the magnitude of emotions weighs so heavy, it seems to take over your soul and the light of hope is dimmed to a point of almost complete darkness.”

“There, you have choice,” the band continue. “You can give up or grow and thrive with the trust of knowing that feeling low and hopeless is only manifested inside your own mind. In those moments we have to realise that life itself is so much bigger than us and our current state of emotions is nothing more than a temporary feeling and a teacher that guides you to be an even better version of yourself.”

Having emerged from the heart of the alternative music scene, Dream on Dreamer quickly captivated audiences worldwide with their unique blend of soaring melodies, powerful lyrics, and explosive live performances. Their unwavering dedication to their craft earned them a passionate and dedicated fan base that has withstood the test of time.

Loveless, released ten years ago, solidified Dream on Dreamer as pioneers of the genre and left an indelible mark on the music landscape. The album delved into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, resonating with listeners on a deeply personal level. Its raw emotional intensity and thought-provoking narratives have firmly established it as a modern classic, with particular praise given to the slow-burning magic of “Hear Me Out” at the album’s midway point.

Fans have shown their appreciation for the anthem in the form of tattoos and artwork, making it clear to the group the significant impact the song has had; an impact largely accredited to the emotionally charged lyrics of pulling through hard times and epic musical arrangement.

With previous tours spanning the globe alongside the likes of Pierce The VeilAvenged SevenfoldA Day To Remember and more, Dream on Dreamer are set to showcase that absence has only made the heart and the emphatic performances grow stronger this August, with the 10-year anniversary tour visiting Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney set to offer carefully curated tracks from the iconic Loveless album, as well as a thoughtfully selected collection of fan favourites that span Dream on Dreamer‘s illustrious career.

ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND DATES FOR NOVEMBER 2023

WITH SPECIAL GUEST REMI WOLF

Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce Grammy Award-winning US trio Paramore – Hayley Williams, Zac Farro and Taylor York – will touch down in Australia and New Zealand this November, following their most recent visit in 2018 when they played sold out East Coast dates.

Paramore, joined by special guest Remi Wolf, will head through Auckland’s Spark Arena on Saturday 18 November, Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Wednesday 22 November and Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Monday 27 November. They will also visit Sydney’s iconic Domain on Saturday 25 November, performing to a GA audience for an extra special night of music under the stars and their biggest Australian headline show to date.

A portion of all ticket sales will be donated to leading food rescue organisations OzHarvest (Australia) and KiwiHarvest (New Zealand) to help reduce food waste and create lasting positive social change.

Frontier Members can access pre-sale tickets on Monday 3 July from 10am AEST (staggered timings as below).

Tickets will open for general public sale on Thursday 6 July from 10am AEST (staggered timings as below). More information at frontiertouring.com/paramore

Currently taking their mammoth live show across North America, Paramore have had a whirlwind start to 2023; embarking on a South American tour in March, joining Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour for two nights in Arizona, playing two sold out Madison Square Garden shows in June and last week achieving a career high, blowing crowds away at Bonnaroo with Hayley Williams jumping on stage with Foo Fighters for a surprise rendition of ‘My Hero!’

The band’s highly anticipated sixth studio album This Is Why was released in February to incredible support from fans and critics alike, topping charts in Australia and the UK. “With some of their most fearless songwriting to date, This Is Why is a bold reminder of how limitless Paramore can be” wrote NME, with Louder Sound calling Paramore “the most vital rock band of their generation”. The immaculately crafted soundscape is the beloved trio’s first full length release since 2018, the title track earning the band their first No.1 at US Alternative Radio and voted Hottest Record Of The Year by BBC Radio One listeners in the UK.

Over the last few years Paramore’s influence and popularity has snowballed, as the age of streaming organically propelled them into a position as one of the world’s biggest, most culturally compelling rock bands. For the band, who formed as teenagers in Tennessee, their 20-year trajectory has seen them grow from youthful outsiders to bone-fide pop culture icons, permeating the musical landscape by inspiring a new generation of musical talent.

Fresh from standout performances at Beyond The Valley, Wildlands and Field Day festivals at the start of the year and sold out headline shows, Californian singer-songwriter Remi Wolf joins Paramore as a special guest on all Australia and New Zealand dates this November. Rising to fame in 2021 with TikTok viral track, ‘Photo ID’ from her critically-acclaimed album Juno, the singer has since gone from strength to strength. Known for her incredible stage presence, full of fun, inclusivity and openness, Remi will grace the stage to perform some of her biggest hits.

BELOVED VOICE OF AOTEAROA DALLAS TAMAIRA RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘LEANING’

BELOVED VOICE OF AOTEAROA DALLAS TAMAIRA RELEASES NEW SINGLE ‘LEANING’

BELOVED VOICE OF AOTEAROA

DALLAS TAMAIRA

RELEASES NEW SINGLE

LEANING

Dallas Tamaira has released his new single ‘Leaning’, the first introduction to his upcoming EP, which will be his first full solo work in over 20 years.

Born in Ōtautahi of Ngati Tuwharetoa and Pakeha descent, Dallas (aka Joe Dukie) was raised in the small coastal town of Kaikōura before rising to worldwide acclaim as lead vocalist of the iconic group Fat Freddy’s Drop. Twenty years on, The Drop are seen as one of the most successful New Zealand acts of the 21st Century.

During the pandemic, with Fat Freddy’s Drop unable to tour, Dallas found a new phase of personal creativity. For the self-proclaimed introvert, with nothing to do but write and create, Dallas began working on brand new solo music with long-time friend and award-winning producer Devin Abrams (Shapeshifter, Drax Project, Pacific Heights).

For an artist who has delivered countless exquisite performances over the years, ‘Leaning’ takes Dallas into a new world of sounds and spaces. Musically explorative, the track sees Dallas as a vocal voyager in an atmospheric audio landscape created by producer Devin Abrams. Dallas’ deep and soulful voice draws listeners in and captivates them to his story, before then blowing their minds with a spacey other-worldly display of sonic fireworks.

“I wrote ‘Leaning’ in the middle of the pandemic”, says Dallas. “It’s essentially a love song about a couple who are trying to make the most of being together in lockdown. It’s about taking the time out to make yourself feel good, while the rest of the world is seemingly falling around you. It’s about enjoying the moments you have with the ones you love today, and not worrying about what tomorrow might bring.”
