Alternative folk group Norwood have announced the release of their newest single Irregular Ways, an unadorned acoustic track written as a sincere reflection on longing and loss, officially released today, August 7th. The group have also announced their debut EP, set to be released later this year.
Norwood consists of vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Olivia Bolmat and Nathaniel Peacock, and drummer/producer Connor Tuan. Since forming in early 2019, Norwood have played a number of shows in their hometown of Melbourne, drawing on classic folk and country influences whilst bringing a unique, contemporary spin to such genres. Featuring thought provoking lyricism and an intricate approach to instrumental arrangement, Norwood’s new take on alternative folk has been well received by audiences, often being described as “a breath of fresh air”.
Irregular Ways provides a contrast to Norwood’s previous single, whilst still echoing its core sonic and lyrical content. The song gradually builds in sentiment using subtle instrumental additions, evoking a sense of warmth through intertwining vocal lines and delicate harmonies whilst maintaining a sense of emotional honesty through direct and minimal production.
Norwood is Olivia Bolmat (lead vocals, guitar), Nathaniel Peacock (lead vocals, guitar) and Connor Tuan (percussion).
