Ocean Alley have announced the Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney legs of their upcoming Australian tour will be postponed until November, along with format changes across shows to keep in-line with current COVID restrictions around the country. More than 30,000 tickets have been sold to date, with the tour serving as the first opportunity for many local audiences to experience the band’s ARIA-nominated third album Lonely Diamond live in the flesh.

Limited tickets available for Adelaide and Brisbane from oceanalley.com.au

As a result of state restrictions, all dates on the tour will now operate as seated shows except Perth, which will proceed as originally planned on September 10 at full capacity as a standing event. Brisbane will now kick off the tour over two nights on August 20 & 21, with the venue upgraded to Riverstage – those who held tickets for the Sunday show at Fortitude Music Hall will be allocated to the Saturday show. Sydney has added a third night at Hordern Pavilion for a venue takeover from November 6-8, with existing ticket holders to be split evenly across all performances. Melbourne’s John Cain Arena show will shift to November 11, while Adelaide will take place on November 27 & 28 at Thebarton Theatre, both cities having no further impact to ticket-holders.

Ticket buyers are advised to check their emails for confirmation of which dates their tickets are now valid for from their respective ticket agency. Date swaps may be possible pending ticket availability; otherwise tickets can be safely resold via the Tixel marketplace or a full refund obtained from the point of purchase.

In a statement regarding these changes, Ocean Alley said “This tour has been more than 16 months in the making, but as you know, COVID continues to affect us all nationwide. We’ve been working closely with venues and state health departments, creating different border exemption and quarantine plans in line with each state’s changing restrictions to ensure we were doing everything in our power to get this tour on the road. However, the latest outbreaks in several states mean we have no option but to postpone our shows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Sydney until November.

At this point in time Brisbane and Perth are going ahead as per the original dates. We are working on securing border exemptions and establishing strict COVID-safe bubbles whilst on the ground that will allow us to enter and play the shows in QLD and WA. If the circumstances change and we cannot play, we have back-up dates held in November and December respectively should we need to reschedule. Thanks as always for your support and patience. Fingers crossed we’ll see you soon! Stay safe.”

Australia’s beloved psychedelic-surf-rockers Ocean Alley have spent the past decade creating a unique lane for themselves as a proudly independent band. 2020 saw Ocean Alley debut at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart with their critically acclaimed third album Lonely Diamond. It follows the success of 2018’s breakthrough Chiaroscuro which saw the six-piece propelled into national prominence with their double platinum-selling single ‘Confidence’ that took out #1 in triple j’s Hottest 100 of 2018.

Despite sold out international tours and major festival appearances including Reading & Leeds(UK), Splendour In The Grass (AUS) and Sziget (HU) under their belt, plus more than 400 million catalogue streams worldwide, they are still constantly pushing their own boundaries and defying expectations of what their music can be.
