MELBOURNE OKAY DANE MAKE THEIR RETURN WITH SPIRITED NEW TRACK ‘DIFFERENT WAVES’

MELBOURNE OKAY DANE

MAKE THEIR RETURN

WITH SPIRITED NEW

TRACK ‘DIFFERENT WAVES’

After using 2020 to the best of their advantage in honing the sound of a brand new chapter for the band, Melbourne alternative rock group Okay Dane re-emerge for 2021 revitalised and primed for a long overdue return to stages.

With their new single, ‘Different Waves’, the band demonstrates that their dynamic as songwriters and performers has continued to strengthen over their last year of writing and studio sessions, building consistently off the back of 2020 releases ‘Someday’ and ‘Erase’.

The release of ‘Different Waves’ signifies a proud step forward for Okay Dane and represents a snapshot of how far they’ve come as a unit over the last 18 months. And to coincide with the release of their new single, the band is also stoked to announce Australian tour dates for Augustand September!

‘Different Waves’, like Okay Dane’s earlier releases, comes marked by impassioned vocal delivery and melodies, in a similar vein to bands like WAAX, Violent Soho and Tired Lion. Recorded at Holes and Corners studios in Melbourne, ‘Different Waves’ saw Okay Dane work with Jon Grace (KINGSWOOD, Northeast Party House) and Sam Sproull (The Getaway Plan, Eliza & The Delusionals) to elevate some already anthemic sounds on record.

Says songwriter Jake Kougioumtzis, writing ‘Different Waves’ was a process in itself initially.

“‘Different Waves’ is the end product of a year-long process of trying things, hating them and throwing them out. It was definitely a rough patch and I had a hard time with writer’s block, and finding the right direction both lyrically and musically.

Once we were able to get back together after months of lockdowns and playing live again, it was like the ice had thawed, and I was able to find the right words and the music started pouring out. I was able to channel all of the stress, anxiety and tension of the last year into a new batch of songs and ‘Different Waves’ definitely feels like a reflection of all we’ve been through in the last year and a half.” Okay Dane, Jake Kougioumtzis
