Birdy releases her sensational new album, Portraits, out via Warner Music. On the album, Birdy embarks upon a musical renaissance, shifting away from her customary stripped-back motifs and stepping into a world laden with polished and gleaming alt-pop aesthetics.
Portraits is Birdy’s most confident album yet as she takes a liberated leap into the unknown, her timeless songwriting style now infused with a fresh, exuberant rush of energy and inventive, off-kilter production flourishes. It’s the sound of a creative stepping into a new world and thrillingly, finding her true voice.
Speaking about Portraits, Birdy said: “After five years making my previous record, which was quite emotionally intense, Portraits was born from the ashes with a brooding urgency I’d not felt before. Naturally I sought to make something that reflected the surge of energy inside me, I was excited by a mixture of synthetic and acoustic sounds and found a lot of freedom and joy venturing into a new sonic universe that I used to think I could never exist in authentically. The album is full of movement and themes of fantasy, a moment of truth, the inner child and perfectionism to the point of heartbreak.”

Birdy continues to be an unmissable draw in the live arena too, her rich, multi-layered stage productions have seen her sell out three consecutive nights at The Sydney Opera House, play to over 10,000 people over two nights at London’s Eventim Apollo, plus many more on global world tours. She has also headlined many festivals across Europe and Asia, has proudly performed at Glastonbury Festival, while in the process earning both BRIT and Grammy nominations.
