Melbourne powerhouse heavy quartet To Octavia are sharing their infectious second single, “Sleep”, from forthcoming EP ‘Somewhere In A World, Not Of The Dream’ and are accompanying the release with their most energetic and attitude-filled video to date.
Followingon from previous single “The Sound Of The Rain”, “Sleep” is another groovy heavy hitter, exploring the notion of avoiding problems and distracting oneself with vices that ultimately make things worse in the end. Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, The Last Martyr, Rumours), this is the second release from To Octavia’s upcoming EP, out Friday July 16.
To Octavia teamed up with long-term collaborator Colin Jeffs for a music video that compliments the theme of the track, demonstrating unhealthy habits and coping mechanisms, careless characteristics and glitched out effects that echo a destructive state of mind. Watch here.
To Octavia announced their own headline show to celebrate the release of “The Sound Of The Rain” and to showcase their new sound. The show was rescheduled to Saturday June 26 due to Victorian restrictions. The Motion Below and The Last Martyr will play support for the band at Cherry Bar. Tickets here!
“The Sound Of The Rain” lead the way for the bands sophomore EP, making its debut on triple j Unearthed TOPs. Shortly after premiere the track was added to Unearthed rotation, received a number of rave reviews on the band’s Unearthed page, has been played on Short. Fast. Loud, The Racket, Home and Hosed, Lunch and 2021 with Richard Kingsmill. On top of all the triple j love, the track made its television debut on Channel 7 Friday Night Football (Richmond vs Brisbane Lions) and has cracked tens of thousands of Spotify streams in just a few weeks.
To Octavia is an Australian alternative metal group consisting of vocalist Merry Kirk-Holmes, guitarists Molly Congreve and Justin Keurntjes, and drummer Lucas Keurntjes. The band started in mid-2018 with the release of their debut single “After All”. Then in early 2019, they dropped their debut EP ‘Nocturnal’ which garnered attention from Alternative Press who commented: “the band prove that metalcore is alive and well.”
2020 was well spent working towards their sophomore EP that takes To Octavia’s melodic sound and builds on it tenfold. To Octavia recently wrapped up a couple of support,
