Melbourne alternative rock group To Octavia release their captivating new single Do Ghosts Dream Like Us? and are set to launch it live tonight to a sold out crowd at Melbourne’s Yah Yah’s.
Renowned for their signature infusion of modern rock with synth driven pop-punk sensibility, To Octavia up the ante with their new high energy melodic masterpiece. Razor sharp riffs, vibrant synth arrangements and an upbeat rhythm section create an immersive sonic tapestry for vocalist Merry Kirk-Holmes’ infectious melodies. Complete with choruses that soar to great heights and lashings of bouncy flourishes, To Octavia yet again prove their potential as the leaders of the next generation of heavy music.
Drawing from a multitude of diverse influences, the group’s commendable songwriting chops blends all the elements seamlessly for a cohesive listen. Kirk-Holmes draws from personal experiences navigating nightmares and delivers a stellar vocal performance ranging from heat laden belts, screams and buttery soft passages.
“When I was younger, I went through a phase where I had terrifying nightmares every single night” says Kirk-Holmes. “I learnt about lucid dreaming, and when I got the hang of it my nightmares finally stopped, though it started a new phase of having way more ridiculous dreams. So, Ghosts is about those ups and downs; the weird, wonderful, horrifying experiences and the characters I met in my lucid adventures, and how those adventures affected my waking life.”
Produced, mixed and mastered by Chris Lalic (Windwaker, The Last Martyr) with additional engineering by Chris Blancato (Northlane) and an upbeat music video by Ten of Swords Media (Make Them Suffer, Diamond Construct), Do Ghosts Dream Like Us? showcases To Octavia at their strongest.
To Octavia will share Do Ghosts Dream Like Us? in all its allure live to a sold out crowd at Yah Yah’s in Fitzroy, Melbourne tonight with support from Inferiority Complex and Soulsleep.
The last couple of years have been a whirlwind for To Octavia, who have added a multitude of milestones to their belt including sets at UNIFY Forever, BIGSOUND 2022, their first national headline tour – which collected countless glowing reviews – and so much more. The group rounded out last year with Ibanez endorsements for guitarists Justin Keurntjes and Molly Congreve and caught the attention of SEGA who reached out to Kirk-Holmes to write lyrics and perform the main theme for Sonic Frontiers.
To Octavia’s impressive repertoire has been featured extensively on triple j, Unearthed, community radio and media worldwide, including Alternative Press. The band have amassed over a million Spotify streams and counting and their electrifying live performance has seen them sell out hometown shows and support heavyweights including Alpha Wolf, Thornhill, Windwaker and more.
