‘GOOD MOOD’
In exciting news for The Rubens fans, today the band unveil their new summer banger ‘Good Mood’ alongside a 13-date summer tour and the news that their Camden-based festival ValleyWays will return on Saturday 17 February with a stacked lineup including Grinspoon, Ball Park Music, Ruby Fields, Coterie, Srirachi, and more.
Produced by Konstantin Kersting (Genesis Owusu, Peach PCR, The Jungle Giants), ‘Good Mood’ is a striking collision of summery pop and darker subject matter. In the words of The Rubens themselves:

‘Good Mood’ explores the notion, that sometimes the more that things go wrong, the more that things seem to fall apart, the more you thrive. To recognise that you’ve got nothing to lose can feel as if a weight has been lifted. Recorded at The Bunker in Camden, ‘Good Mood’ conveys this feeling. If this is rock bottom then it can only get better. How wonderful.
‘Good Mood’ follows The Rubens’ last single ‘Pets and Drugs’, which hit triple j’s most played track over winter and was their first release since their 2021 #1 ARIA-Charting fourth album 0202. 0202 earned a nomination for the prestigious Australian Music Prize (AMP) and had album tracks ‘Live In Life’ and ‘Masterpiece’ certified 4x Platinum and Platinum respectively in Australia.
The band’s third album LO LA RU, featured hits ‘Never Ever (feat Sarah)’ (Triple Platinum), ‘God Forgot’ (Certified Platinum), ‘Million Man’ (Certified Gold), and lead to sold out shows and a 42-date Arena tour supporting megastar P!NK. Their second album Hoops saw the band sell out headline shows at Hordern Pavilion and Margaret Court Arena and included hits ‘Hallelujah’(Certified Gold), ‘Cut Me Loose’ and of course the 6 x Platinum the hit title track, which topped the 2015 triple j Hottest 100, while their debut self-titled LP was home to ‘My Gun’ (Certified Platinum), ‘Lay It Down’ (Certified Gold), ‘The Best We Got’ and more fan-favourites.
Starting the new year with a bang, The Rubens will commence their Good Mood Tour on Thursday 4 January in Kings Beach, Sunshine Coast. The massive run will see the band play 13 shows along the east coast supported by Sunshine Coast-via-New Zealand band Day We Ran, wrapping up in Torquay on Sunday 28th January. Saturday 17 February will see the return of the band’s celebrated hometown festival in Camden, ValleyWays, with stacked lineup including Grinspoon, Ball Park Music, Ruby Fields, Coterie, Srirachi, and more.
‘Good Mood’ is a fiery addition to The Rubens’ repertoire that’s sure to ignite the ears and hearts of both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
