THE BLESSED MADONNA
COLLABORATES WITH
TODD EDWARDS ON
“FUCK WHAT U HEARD”
The Blessed Madonna has teamed up with garage legend Todd Edwards for their new single “Fuck what u heard”. Listen HERE. It brings together two American dance music icons – hailing from Kentucky and New Jersey respectively – who’ve been taken into the hearts of clubbers around the world. Capturing a joyous explosion of creativity in the studio, “Fuck what u heard” is a complete collision of sounds, ideas and techniques, featuring Edwards’ original vocal alongside the lead vocal sample from Ray Hurley’s UK garage classic “What Goes Around”
Speaking about the track, The Blessed Madonna says; “It’s sort of everyone’s dream to work with Todd Edwards, right? What rational person with ears wouldn’t dream of a day with Todd the God. Well, I got more than I could have asked for. Todd’s vocal on this record came with a lesson on Todd’s signature method of microsampling and possibly the greatest hugs I’ve ever received in my life. Todd is not just a great artist, he’s a great friend and the love and admiration that I have for him, along with Big Hen from Joy Anonymous and my partner Pat Alvarez really shines through in this record.”
“Fuck what u heard” is the latest in a prolific run of recent releases from The Blessed Madonna. Following 2022’s Uffie-vocalled “Serotonin Moonbeams” – The Blessed Madonna’s first single in over the 5 years – she quickly followed up with collaborations with Chicago house legend Jamie Principle (on “We Still Believe”) and then Durban’s The Joy on the electrifying “Shades Of Love”. Most recently, she collaborated with her friend and queer club icon Michael Peacock on a video for “We Still Believe”. The pair discussed the collaboration in an exclusive interview with The Face magazine earlier this month
Meanwhile, ahead of a summer of huge festival appearances (including UK shows at Parklife and Lost Village), The Blessed Madonna hits the US for a run of underground club shows over the coming weeks. These include Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Fans should keep their eyes peeled for some last minute announcements and appearances around those dates.
ABOUT THE BLESSED MADONNA
An overnight sensation two decades in the making, Marea Stamper aka The Blessed Madonna is an artist whose career is woven into the fabric of dance music past, present and future. Whether promoting illegal raves to 50 people in sweaty Kentucky basements as a teenager, headlining the biggest stages and festivals around the world, working alongside house legends like Frankie Knuckles or fearlessly taking on one of the most improbable, ambitious remix projects in recent times with “Club Future Nostalgia” (her collaborative album with pop icon Dua Lipa), The Blessed Madonna is synonymous with inclusive, unifying, cathartic dance music.
In recent years, The Blessed Madonna has channelled the emotions of millions as the vocalist on Fred again..’s lockdown anthem “Marea (We Lost Dancing)”, become the voice of Saturday night radio, been immortalised as a GTA5 character and provided remixes for the likes of The Chemical Brothers, Florence & The Machine and improbably, Elton John. With “Serotonin Moonbeams” she is set to usher in a whole new era. A stop-you-in-your-tracks moment in its own right, it’s also the starting pistol for a run of new releases over the coming months; the first results from a year’s worth of blood, sweat, tears and joy in the studio for 50 hours a week with some of her best friends. There are even rumours of a debut album. Watch this space.
