THE ATOMIC BEAU PROJECT DELVE INTO THE DEPTHS OF SLEEP PARALYSIS ON NEW SINGLE “GHOSTS”

THE ATOMIC BEAU PROJECT

DELVE INTO THE

DEPTHS OF SLEEP

PARALYSIS ON

NEW SINGLE “GHOSTS”

Sleep paralysis is a phenomenon in which the monsters inside a persons mind are brought to life, leading them to question reality from illusion. Brisbane progressive rock quartet The Atomic Beau Project dig deep into the experience on haunting new single, “GHOSTS“. The band will showcase their new single live at BIGSOUND Festival next week.

GHOSTS portrays the fundamental fear we have of the night, and the ghosts that appear when the lights are out,” explains vocalist Emma Beau, drawing from her own experience with sleep paralysis.

The protagonist of the story on “GHOSTS” finds herself struggling to discern what’s real and what’s not. Are the ghosts she sees in the night real, or just figments of her imagination? How would she know the difference?

The new track was produced and mixed in house by drummer Andy James and was mastered by Lance Prenc (Alpha Wolf, Diamond Construct, Void Of Vision). Sonically the single draws on 90s and 00s rock influences from Muse to Deftones whilst retaining the bands unique female-driven vocal sound featuring tense, swirling undertones.

The Atomic Beau Project is Emma Beau on vocals, Andy James on drums, Jack Gardneron guitar, and Luke Woollett on bass. The band have carved a name for themselves in alternative Australia through their blend of metal, indie pop and electronica, often comparable to artists like Poppy and the aforementioned Muse and Deftones. The four-piece are also heavily inspired by sci-fi, horror, and fiction.

The band were highly commended for their work on “Cellar Door” in 2021 by the Queensland Music Awards and have been played extensively on triple j, Unearthed, Triple M and community radio shows nationwide. The music video for “Cellar Door” premiered exclusively via Prog Mag and host of triple j’s The Racket, Lochlan Watt, reviewed the track with 4 out of 5 stars, highlighting its eccentric elements: “Really different – never quite heard industrial and prog metal go together like this before – exciting to see something a bit left field come out of Brisbane of all places!

The Atomic Beau Project played their first major festival in 2021 at The Other Festival in Brisbane, alongside heavy music royalty in Cog, RedHook, Voyager and Osaka Punch. They’ll showcase twice at next week’s BIGSOUND Festival, playing The Zoo on Tuesday September 6 and Tomcat on Thursday September 8.
