NEWCASTLE FOUR-PIECE

LA ROMA RELEASE POP GEM

SO LONG, ADIEU

OUT NOW

On paper, the Newcastle four-piece La Roma looks as if it appeared one night out of nowhere with nothing but a dream, a song and a few photos of four lifelong friends sitting around enjoying a coffee together. The truth is though, La Roma began its journey in 2011 when Daniel, Ezekiel and Gareth came together as the indie-rock outfit Emerson – recording two EP’s as well as supporting the likes of Lydia (USA), As Tall As Lions (USA) and Ben Jorgensen (Armor for Sleep, USA) on their Australian tours. Although the band was going from strength to strength, gaining fans around Australia and beyond; due to unforeseen circumstances Daniel, Ezekiel and Gareth called hiatus on what was looking like a promising musical career at the end of 2012.

Fast forward seven years, only now with the talented Hudson Wallace (who has previously played for the likes of Nathan Hawes, Jeremy Barnes and Komit Levai) in the drummers chair; the four members of La Roma are more passionate than ever to bring their honest and nostalgic sound reminiscent of Jimmy Eat World, Anberlin and Manchester Orchestra to Australia and beyond.

Written during some of the darkest months in Daniel life, “So Long, Adieu” recounts the internal fight Daniel had between whether to remain true to himself or to turn away from everything he had grown to believe was important. “In the end I realised that the distractions of the world were only that, distractions, and that money, drugs and women, although they can bring joy or that feeling of accomplishment to some – they were never going to fulfil the emptiness I felt during that time of my life”.

With their debut single “So Long, Adieu” (mixed and mastered by friend of the band Rhys Zacker at his Spinlight Studios in Newcastle) out now, there is still plenty more to come from La Roma, as the band drop their second single in later 2020, as well as their debut EP in early 2021.
