MICRA RELEASE

‘DOESN’T MEAN A THING’

+ ANNOUNCE SECOND

IN EP TRIOLOGY

Micra drop heady new visuals for their latest single ‘Doesn’t Mean A Thing’ and announce upcoming EP 5th Room out in July. 5th Room is a follow up to their debut EP Sunday and marks the second batch of material in their EP trilogy. ‘Doesn’t Mean A Thing’ shares another glimpse of Micra’s limitless creativity and will appear on 5th Room alongside their recent energetic single ‘Headroom’.

Written and produced with Chris Collins (Middle Kids, Skeggs & Tyne James-Organ), the dreamy ‘Doesn’t Mean A Thing’ shows yet another side to the genre-banding band, who continue to impress with their own individual and evolving sound. Where ‘Headroom’ demonstrated the band’s pop capabilities ‘Doesn’t Mean A Thing’ leans to the left, experimenting with instrumental textures, dynamic production and hypnotic effects over singer Ivana Kafedjiyska’s smooth vocals.

“Doesn’t Mean A Thing” was a stream of consciousness song. This song captures that out of body and almost disconnected feeling you get when you deny the reality of something that really affects you. We wanted it to feel like you were a part of that internal process.” – Ivi

“The 5th Room EP feels like a more focused body of music than our last EP. It has less moments that are intense and hard hitting. I think overall it feels softer but more direct. The pop songs are more groove focused and the slower songs are the most mellow feeling ballads that we have ever made. Most of the songs are just feel good music with a heavy dose of introspection if you want to dive deep. We are exploring how to do more with less parts and I think that results in something that many people can enjoy” – Robbie

To date, the duo (also known as Bulgarian born singer/ guitarist Ivana Kafedjiyska and Australian guitarist/producer Robbie Cain) have released a stream of notable singles and a debut EP. Tracks like ‘After Dark’, ‘Sonata’ and ‘Fuzz Captain’ have received strong support from DSPs, gracing Spotify’s NMF AU/NZ, France & Portugal, Front Left, Indie Brandneu, Dreampop, Indie Arrivals and Fresh Finds playlists, plus Apple Music’s Heaps Indie, Alt Pop,  Superbloom, ALT CTRL, INDIY and Astral Escape, as well as via tastemakers such as David Dean Burkhart and RUFUS DU SOL. Their music has also been covered by KCRW, The Wild Honey Pie, The Line of Best Fit, Clash Magazine and Pilerats amongst others.

“Micra put the ‘dream’ in ‘dream-pop’” – NME “Shimmering swathes of synth and lush guitar tones” – The Line of Best Fit “The dream-pop pairing seem to always hit it out of the park…furthering themselves and widening their hazy pop sound with everything they’ve put out.” – Pilerats
