NEW SINGLE ‘GOTi’
Soothsayer are excited to reveal ‘GOTi’, the bouncy new single from beloved Sydney electronic producer Love Deluxe (aka Michael O’Connell). Short for ‘Get Off the Internet’, the summery jam features the silky-smooth vocals of New York artist Julietta (who has worked with the likes of Sofi Tukker and Yeasayer) and is released alongside a clubby, instrumental version, ‘GOTi (Dub)’.
Seeing its debut spin on triple j yesterday, ‘GOTi’ is Love Deluxe’s first cut of new music since the release of his sophomore EP Fata Morgana. The track is not only an ethereal disco jam, but a key message of advice: “GOTi is an ode to closing the laptop, putting down the phone and breathing in the sweet scent of life,” Michael explains. “I shot over the instrumental to Julietta who perfectly captured the free spirit of the song with her fun lyrics about doing bad things with friends and making a good time of it. Free and breezy, baby.”
For the uninitiated (or those who need a refresher course), Love Deluxe is an Australian producer, DJ and live act, described by Magnetic Mag as “equal parts disco, funk and magic”. His debut EP Silk Mirage, included a famed live jam remix from Mount Liberation Unlimited, drew praise from i-D, Indie Shuffle, XLR8R and triple j and racked up millions of streams. His follow up EP, Fata Morgana was added to FBi Radio, was featured in Resident Advisor’s ‘New Tracks’ and saw support from Complex UK, Bolting Bits and Le Visiteur. He is no stranger to the live stage, having toured nationally and played Splendour in the Grass, Sugar Mountain x Boiler Room, Pitch Festival and Let Them Eat Cake.
‘GOTi’ and ‘GOTi (Dub)’ mark the return of a local dance music master, and just in time for us all put the phone away and fall in love with the local discotheque in 2022.
