IMOGEN CLARK ANNOUNCES

SECOND ANNUAL

HOLIDAY HOOTENANNY!

PRINCE BANDROOM –

SATURDAY 8 JANUARY

2022

Local indie rocker IMOGEN CLARK announces details of her anticipated Second Annual Holiday Hootenanny. Set to take place at Melbourne’s Prince Bandroom on Saturday 8 January, the second instalment of Clark’s annual turn of year concert will see the artist join forces with a swag of her musical mates to deliver an evening of originals, collaborations, surprising covers, and New Year cheer to Melburnians.

After a triumphant first iteration in Sydney last year, Imogen has rounded up another stellar line-up of guests to join the party. This January, she will be joined by Ali Barter, Anita Lester, Dan Kelly, Eilish Gilligan, Gretta Ray, I Know Leopard and Mo’Ju.Tickets are on sale now at princebandroom.oztix.com.au

“It’s never felt more meaningful to celebrate making it to the end of another year and getting to play live music”, said Imogen.

“Thank you to everyone who has gone out and got vaxxed and made it possible for this show to happen. I am cooking up the ultimate party full of surprises with these amazing guests, and January can’t come soon enough!”

Released today is Clark’s brand-new Christmas song ‘When Can I Touch You Again?’. The song was written in a unique relay between all the musicians that contributed, starting with drummer Luke Davison (The Preatures), who laid down his drum track during the first Australian lockdown in 2020. It was built layer by layer by Mike Bloom (Rilo Kiley) on guitar, the late Nick Weaver(Deep Sea Arcade) on bass, Grammy-winning song writing legend Jim Lauderdale contributing the melody and Imogen Clark writing the lyrics with an assist from her frequent co-writer Anita Lester. The track was mixed and produced by Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson (Alex Lahey, Ali Barter).

“Last year I put out a sad Christmas song, but this year we’re finally turning a corner on all the shit that’s been going on, so I’ve got a thirsty Christmas song for you all!”, said Imogen.Get the track here.

Also revealed today are live solo and band dates from this November through to March 2022. Making up for lost time, Imogen will hit the road for a marathon tour over the coming months; this Friday 12th and Saturday 13th November, she joins Frenzal Rhomb’s Jay and Lindsay at Sydney’s Crowbar as a special guest, followed in January by performances to rock Newcastle’s The Cambridge and Sydney’s The Lansdowne, which will see Imogen take the stage with her full band to perform tracks from her extensive back catalogue, plus brand-new songs from her BASTARDS EP.

After paying tribute to Joni Mitchell’s classic album BLUE at Mary’s Underground on 22ndJanuary, Imogen will kick off her solo tour dates through regional New South Wales and Queensland, with more shows to be announced in the weeks ahead. All dates are on sale now – Head to imogenclark.com.au for tickets and more information.

Released in May, Imogen Clark’s BASTARDS EP signifies a defining moment for the artist. Recorded remotely between Sydney and LA, the EP sees Imogen team up with Mike Bloom(Jenny Lewis, Julian Casablancas) and engineer Will Golden on the defiant offering.

Imogen Clark

ABOUT IMOGEN CLARKImogen Clark is an Australian indie rock artist, hailing from the Blue Mountains of New South Wales. Her music ranges from the intimate to the arena-ready, rock anthems with the soul of a confessional singer-songwriter. Despite the myriad challenges that 2020 brought to the music industry, Imogen had a banner year – she released a critically acclaimed EP, played a sold-out livestream concert series, performed back-to-back sold-out Sydney launch shows in September, dropped a nostalgic Christmas single, and wrapped it all up with an epic First Annual Holiday Hootenanny gig with her musical mates – including Montaigne, Lindsay McDougall (Frenzal Rhomb) and more.

Released in August of last year, Imogen Clark’s The Making Of Me EP garnered widespread acclaim both in Australia and North America. Praised for its raw honesty by fans and critics, the six-track offering showcased Imogen’s powerful vocal and reflective lyrics, and collaborations with rock legends Benmont Tench (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) and contemporaries like Alex Lahey and Emma Swift.

Despite spending the back half of the year in lockdown, 2021 has already been the biggest year of Imogen’s career to date, including a sold-out Sydney residency, a packed-out secret EP launch show streamed around the world, regional touring, and the release of her first ever live record Not A Little Girl and biggest of all, rave review for her new EP BASTARDS.

Clark recorded this EP remotely between Sydney and LA, with returning producer Mike Bloom (Julian Casablancas, Jenny Lewis). Some of music’s finest talent contributed to BASTARDS; Eilish Gilligan on ‘Forget About London’, Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith on ‘Never This Time’ and Men At Work’s Colin Hay on the emotive ‘First Class Man’, amongst others.

Imogen builds on the rich, dynamic sound of The Making of Me, taking everything to a new level – the drums hit harder, the guitars are louder, the emotions more intimate and transparent. Across the six songs, Imogen sings about betrayal in love (Forget About London), a couple too afraid to end a doomed relationship (Casualty), her family’s history of addiction (Never This Time), the loss of her mentor to suicide (First Class Man) and the men in the industry who refuse to see women as their equals (Bastards).
