HEALTH RELEASE
‘CHILDREN OF SORROW’
VIDEO
HEALTH have shared the new music video for their menacing single CHILDREN OF SORROW – from recent release RAT WARS and featuring Lamb of God’s Willie Adler – via premier anime source Crunchyroll.
Co-directed by bassist/producer John Famiglietti alongside James Kid, the video presents the exhilarating HEALTH live experience and the grand, mesmerizing debut of the band’s original Waifu dance team: Sakura, Hitomi, and Rio. Famiglietti explains: “Let me tell you what entertainment is. Violence. Sex. Friendship. Death. Surprise. Betrayal. Dancing. The HEALTH Waifu dance team are so sexy that if you see them enough times, you might faint. When you see it, you won’t be able to fight the temptation of wanting to dance with them!”. Read more about his love of anime at Crunchyroll’s in-depth feature HERE.
Produced by Stint (Oliver Tree, Demi Lovato) and mixed by Lars Stalfors (SALEM, The Neighbourhood), RAT WARS joins the lineage of groundbreaking heavy acts like Nine Inch Nails and Ministry, which re-drew the borders between metal, electronic and pop music. It might be The Downward Spiral for people with at least two monitors and a vitamin D deficiency. The album, released in December via Loma Vista Recordings, has earned the LA-based trio critical acclaim, including cover stories at Revolver, Kerrang!, and Fuze, as well as rave reviews and features at LoudWire, Alternative Press, Paste, Grammy.com, Metal Hammer, Brooklyn Vegan, The Line of Best Fit, FLOOD Magazine, MXDWN, and more. RAT WARSwas also named one of the ‘Best Albums of 2023’ by Revolver, Alternative Press, New York Magazine/Vulture, MXDWN (#1 Album of 2023), Uproxx, FLOOD Magazine, and Exclaim!, among others.
Fans can catch HEALTH’s headlining RAT-BASED WARFARE TOUR in North America this March and April.
RAT WARS is available to stream, for order on limited edition vinyl, cassette, and more HERE.
Praise for RAT WARS:
“An album that really does sound like [HEALTH] have fully embraced the metal side of their sound.” -Lochlan Watt, triple j The Racket
“LA industrial geniuses HEALTH exude menacing melancholy and evident greatness on glowering fifth album.” – Kerrang! (4/5 stars) “HEALTH have become a full-blown, industrial metal powerhouse” – Metal Hammer (8/10 stars) “…dark thoughts mesh with enticing melodies, and harsh, distorted noise is draped in soft sheets of reverb. The purview is bleak… but the sound design and production are almost playfully ambitious” – New York Magazine/Vulture (Other Best Albums of 2023) “They’ve been calling their aggressive, forward-leaning sound ‘noise rock’ since forming in 2005, but there are vibrant elements of industrial, electronic, post-punk, metal and avant-garde… They may have started as a band toiling in underground obscurity, but the guys have seen their music travel not only far, but deeply into the lives of fans reacting to the songs of pain, frustration and understated rage.” – Revolver “RAT WARS remains as danceable as any of their synth-y goth offerings to date. Pay whatever they’re asking for a ticket to HEALTH’s upcoming tour — stank face and headbanging come free.” – Exclaim! (Best Albums of 2023) “[RAT WARS] anoints the Los Angeles trio as leaders of the subgenre’s latest wave. With an ear for immersive sonics, mechanistic grit, and heavy-hitting breakdowns, HEALTH know exactly what they’re doing.” – UPROXX “‘It’s a stunningly wrought album, exploring some of their most personal themes and some of the best music to bear their name” – Distorted Sound (9/10 stars) “The group’s fifth album continues to solidify their goth-industrial aesthetic while remaining first and foremost a pop album—albeit one wrapped in leather and spikes… some of the strongest standout songs of any HEALTH album to date” – FLOOD Magazine “…a sonically sound, exhilarating roller-coaster ride that shrewdly assesses the last four years of recorded material and makes a concerted effort to deliver the most punishingly heavy album of their career.” – Sputnik Reviews (4.9/5 stars, Classic) “… bloody hell, is RAT WARS powerful.” – The Soundboard “[‘CHILDREN OF SORROW’ & ‘SICKO’] showcase the multi-faceted sound that’s allowed HEALTH to expand their fanbase and crossover conventional genre barriers.” – Heavy Consequence “No other band does it like HEALTH — and that’s a big fucking FACT!… RAT WARS is a perfect balance between Industrial Power and Ethereal Soundscapes.” – CVLT Nation “RAT WARS is this band’s most creative collection yet” – Soundsphere “The new record is inherently HEALTH, but with something new, something fresh.” – Mixdown Magazine “[‘UNLOVED’ is] catchy, creepy and psychedelic in the best way possible.” – MXDWN
