GRIFF UNVEILS

“VERT1GO VOL.1” –

TOURING AUSTRALIA

JANUARY 2024

Griff has dropped “vert1go vol.1“, a new, three-song chapter of music available now on Warner Music. Listen HERE. The volume is accompanied by three up-close-and-personal headline shows in London, Berlin and Paris across release week (which sold out immediately), witnessing Griff at a new juncture in her life and at the start of a new creative journey.

“vert1go vol.1” is an atmospheric, cinematic and intimate set of songs from Griff: more unguarded than ever, but the mark of a young woman also prepared to embrace the unknown. The release was previewed by lead single “Vertigo“, a roller-coaster of a record about feeling upside-down and the generational disorientation of your early-twenties. Entwined by the teething issues of young adulthood, “vert1go vol.1″ turns the tumultuousness of such times into a source of power: focus track “Into The Walls” is powerfully nostalgic for the naivety of adolescence, whilst “19th Hour” chronicles a communication-breakdown with the observational style that’s always grounded Griff’s songwriting as mature beyond those formative, “Vertigo” -inducing years.

Griff is heading to Australia for the first time this New Years for a run of festival dates with Heaps Good Festival. She will be performing in Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Griff is the multi-faceted modern pop star where normal rules need not apply. Born and raised in Kings Langley, she started making music early in her teens, also realising at an early age – whether through her Chinese-Jamaican roots or her all-encompassing approach (spanning songwriting, production, fashion and design) – that she was different. From day one, Griff’s learning curve has proved similarly sideways: she played just one gig prior to the pandemic in support of DIY EP “Mirror Talk“, with lockdown mixtape “One Foot In Front of The Other– literally walking that tightrope between fragility, and the fearlessness of youth – rocketing Griff to pop stardom whilst stuck in her bedroom.

Praise for “Vertigo”

“damn Griff I love this one” Taylor Swift

“A beautiful song about hopes, fears and friendship” Sunday Times

“Self-produced, synth-pop stunner” CLASH

“Dazzling…chronicles a story of self-discovery in a way only Griff can” Notion

The barrier-breaking project became the first mixtape from a female artist to go top 5, with Griff winning the prestigious BRITS Rising Star, two NME Awards, and surpassing 660M+ streams to date in support of homemade hits like ‘Black Hole’. Finally unleashed from lockdown, Griff has seen the world for the first time by touring with some of today’s biggest artists – Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Florence + the Machine – as well as landing support from Taylor Swift (who also shouted-out “Vertigo’).

At the centre of it all, “vert1go vol.1″ is a reminder that Griff – like anyone of her generation – is figuring out her place in the world: new era, new hair, and a once-in-a-generation talent ready to embark on new artistic heights.
