Dan Sultan today shares the second taste of new music for 2023, with uplifting single ‘Won’t Give You That’. ‘Won’t Give You That’ is a tale of liberation and resilience, seeing Dan pivoting to hold his fate in his own hands.
The second single of 2023, co-written and produced with Joel Quartermain, ‘Won’t Give You That’ is grand in its instrumentation, as well as unashamedly personal in its message. With the foundation of sprightly guitar, piano and choir-filled backing vocals, Dan’s awe-inspiring vocal line transcends over the top, with a message of optimism for the future. With pride in his voice, the song crescendos into a chant “I Won’t Give You That” – an inspirational declaration for a powerful journey.

“It’s a song about liberation. There are some people who…it suited them when I was unwell. It suited their internal narrative about themselves. I let it happen, I wasn’t well enough and I wasn’t strong enough. That’s not where I am anymore”
