THE FACTION ANNOUNCES

ON-AIR HOST DAVID NASH

Australia’s premier 24/7 Heavy Music online radio station, The Faction, is today announcing that David Nash will be hosting a mid-morning radio show for heavy music fans all around Australia! The Faction launched in 2017 and has gone from strength to strength since, hosting their annual Hardest 100 countdown and bringing the latest heavy music and artists to thousands of heavy music fans weekly!

Now with a multiplying social media following and listeners across their app and iHeartRadio, The Faction felt that now is the time for the station to gain a fresh face and voice, heading into 2021 and beyond – and Nashy is that voice! Nashy said that he “…absolutely could not be more thrilled to be joining the team at The Faction. I haven’t met anyone else more passionate about heavy music and using radio/streaming as a medium to champion the genre – and that’s what I am all about, so to me, this is a perfect fit!”

Previously a #1 metro workday announcer in Brisbane while a part of Triple M, Nashy has previously had positions at Triple M Cairns, before jumping into dual announcer/operations role at Triple M Brisbane. Originally from Victoria, Nashy started at community radio before taking a role as a panel op at 96.9 Star FM in Shepparton. Nash showed his love of heavy music while at Triple M, by taking the initiative to start a chart show on ‘MMM Hard N Heavy’ on Sundays and interview artists at major festivals like Download Festival and Good Things Festival.

When Nash moved on from Triple M in mid-2020, a mutual love of heavy music saw Nash and The Faction meet – and devise a way to make the show/partnership a reality.

Nash has interviewed a massive list of heavy music royalty and stars over the years, including Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour), Oli Sykes (Bring Me The Horizon), Noodles (The Offspring), Winston McCall (Parkway Drive), Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Matt Heafy (Trivium), Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine) and Brian ‘Head’ Welch (Korn). He kicked off in style at The Faction, immediately interviewing Max Cavalera from Killer Be Killed/Sepultura/Soulfly/The Cavalera Conspiracy and Jordan Fish and Lee Malia from Bring Me The Horizon.

The Faction Station Manager, Tim Price, stated that “We could not be any more stoked that Nashy has come on board with The Faction. His years of experience on air, his love of heavy music that he now gets to lean in to more than ever before, his relatability, his enthusiasm and passion around the genre – he’s a perfect fit for the station, and I am so looking forward to listeners getting to know him more, and get so much more out of the station! There’s just something so human about having someone there in the morning and work day with you on air, reflecting back your love of heavy music!”

Price reflected that it’s something that heavy music fans generally don’t get to have. “When has there ever been a morning radio show that caters uniquely for heavy music fans in Australia? I just love that we can do this for people who generally feel not catered for, considered too “out there” for radio.. it’s pretty great to be able to bring that to the fore.”

Nash will also be hosting/voicing events and specials, including the annual ‘HARDEST 100’ countdown.

David Nash’s morning show runs from 9am- Midday AEST on weekdays on The Faction, available at http://thefaction.com.au or The Faction App, and on the iHeartRadio website & App.
