ACOUSTIC REVISIONS
2020 EP
Following on from his successful return to music with ROME, his first release in five years, Josh Pyke is treating fans to further 2020 releases with the REVISIONS 2020 EP via Wonderlick Entertainment/Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
The EP includes beautiful acoustic versions of ‘Memories & Dust’, ‘The Summer’ featuring Elana Stone, a cover of The Jezabels’ ‘Endless Summer’ featuring Elana Stone and Josh’s acoustic re- imaginging of ‘Doubting Thomas’.
Additionally, the EP features a previously unreleased piano version of ‘Middle of the Hill’, which will drop alongside a video of this rendition. A fan-favourite, the original single reached #19 on triple j hottest 100 the year of its release. Josh has dedicated the track to his mother, who has been battling with the degenerative condition know as Alzheimer’s. “‘Middle of the Hill’ has always been a reminder for me to appreciate the good things when they’re there,” says Josh about the track. “Over the past few years this idea has been especially important as I’ve watched my dear mum suffer through the ravages Alzheimer’s disease. It’s been a really rough time for me and my family, as we try to come to terms with what feels like the loss of a loved one, although she is still physically with us.” His social post includes his full quote and marks the first time Josh has spoken publicly about this extremely personal issue.
His highly anticipated sixth studio album, ROME, released in August of this year marked a triumphant homecoming, debuting at #8 on the ARIA Album Chart and #1 on the Australian Album Chart. It has since been nominated for ‘Best Adult Contemporary Album’ at the 2020 ARIA Awards. A collection of 11 songs that captures Pyke’s signature melodies and harmonies, while exhibiting his unique approach to storytelling, ROME was praised as “up there with his finest work” (Herald Sun).
