ESHAAN NAVIGATES UNCERTAINTY IN ‘UPSIDE DOWN’

ESHAAN NAVIGATES

UNCERTAINTY IN

‘UPSIDE DOWN’

Following on from a prolific 2022 where Eora/Sydney raised artist ESHAAN released his genre defying debut ‘Back To The Future’, and subsequent ‘Simulation’, the young talent returns to kick off the new year with another decadent offering titled ‘Upside Down’. Each of the singles delve deep into part of ESHAAN’s psyche, asking the bigger questions to the universe, whilst drawing from a larger concept piece which is set to be unveiled later this year. Marking the third stage of ESHAAN’s introduction, ‘Upside Down’ takes his complex soundscape and pairs it with his soaring vocals and introspective lyricism. Sonically employing his trademark synth glitters, as sliding synth-sirens wail throughout, ESHAAN takes inspiration from the Electronic, Pop and RnB worlds as he effortlessly cements himself within the Electro-Pop side of music as a familiar yet futuristic artist.

Speaking to the ideation of the record ESHAAN shares, “‘Upside Down’ is the feeling you get when things are about to amp up or crash and burn. Its place in my wider project sits just after perfection has been ripped away, as detailed in ‘Back To The Future’, and just before a journey is undertaken, which is further explored in the EP.” Further detailing the direct meaning, he continues “this track details how the relationships encountered whilst in the LGBTQIA+ community can make you feel all kinds of things especially so, being careful with who you crush on. It can be good and can be bad or even ugly but, either way like a drug, it can, and most probably will make you long for more. The desperation can turn you both inside out and ‘Upside Down’, but also be so good at the same time. ‘Upside Down’ is ‘desperation for perfection’, no matter the scenario, it’s a feeling, it is ‘Upside Down’.”

ESHAAN burst onto the scene with a compelling introduction in ‘Back To The Future’, and was immediately praised for his songwriting ability and vocal skill beyond his years. The single was applauded by triple j presenters Dave Ruby Howe who commended the ‘mix of futuristic and familiar’, and Declan Byrne who complimented ESHAAN’s ‘moody and intoxicating pop’ stylings and was eager for what’s to come from the artist. The single was supported by the likes of Spotify, Apple Music, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds, FROOTY, Amnplify, auspOp, and Aus Music Scene, whilst AAA Backstage called it ‘an awe-inspiring debut’ and SNIFFERS praised the ‘heavy atmospheric inauguration’ for its melodic pacing and ‘dark electronic feel’. Shortly following, his sophomore single ‘Simulation’ cemented ESHAAN as a bright young artist to watch, with continued support across triple j Unearthed, JOY 94.9, Happy Mag, Music Feeds and many more. Both releases signalled the quintessential introduction to an artist who relishes combining his own personal experiences into a conceptual project that will grow and flourish within the next year. Simultaneously, ESHAAN continues to shine on the live scene having excelled in his debut live performance at Sydney’s Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras 2022 on the Fair Day main stage last year alongside a multitude of queer talent, and also Live Nation’s One’s To Watch Show as part of SOUND WEST.
