AUSTRALIAN DUO HUX

ARE MAKING ‘LEMONADE’

Australian/English duo HUX are set to kickstart the next chapter of their career. Blending irresistible pop melodies with their breezy vocal harmonies, “Lemonade” is the debut single from their forthcoming EP, out through LAB RECORDS.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Jason Mraz and John Mayer to create their rich soundscapes, “Lemonade” is filled with sunshine rhythms and smooth guitar licks – a dreamy ode to the end of the summer months. “‘Lemonade’ is about taking the bad alongside the good, and the idea that accepting that we can’t live in a permanent state of happiness is a step in the direction of maintaining it”, the duo explain. “We had this half-song that we called ‘Honey-Sweet’ which was going nowhere, but we liked that lyric so built the first verse around that. The rest just fell into place with help from producer/writers Alex Charles and Tom Williams. We loved the vibe of the track but also loved the message.”

Discovered by Toby Smith from Jamiroquai who started developing and recording them straight out of school, George and Pat have since been touring London’s coveted music venues, landing a support slot for Robbie Williams at Camden’s Roundhouse. The pair also came second in a national competition last year for Hoax, judged by Cenzo Townsend (Kaiser Chiefs, U2), Joe Rubel (Ed Sheeran) and Jesse Quinn (bass player for Keane).

Drawing on a vast array of influences, it was John Mayer in particular who broadened their musical horizons – allowing them to really appreciate the complexity and captivating nature of good pop music. Australian music also plays an important role in their lives, enchanted by the nostalgia from listening to the melodies of their youth. With an EP soon to follow, “Lemonade” is indication of HUX’s adroit musical ability.
