Pyramid Scheme

Lizzie Jack and the Beanstalks return in 2021 with PYRAMID SCHEME, a high-energy alt-rock ode to the hustler in your hometown. Fresh off a win at the UOW Band Comp, Lizzie Jack and the Beanstalks continue the momentum with their new single.

PYRAMID SCHEME sees the band step away from their folk roots, experimenting with high-energy, Mid-West derived, alt-rock instrumentation and soaring vocals. Originally an acoustic track, PYRAMID SCHEME grew organically and collaboratively over the course of a year, creating a sound that is simple, hard-hitting, and authentic to the band.

“This song started when I was messing around on my guitar at home and singing along. I dropped by Lizzie’s with the song idea and it grew from there. I’m a big fan of the first open strum in the verse, feels like being slapped in the face with a guitar, before eventually soaring into a chorus. Solo is also heaps of fun to play, it’s actually changed a lot over the past year – Alex helped heaps with the current iteration.” – James

From the get-go it is clear that Lizzie Jack and the Beanstalks are here to make an impact, opening with a heavy riff and punchy percussion before Lizzie’s gently authoritative vocals carry the listener, swelling into the catchy, head-nodding hook.

“James started writing a song about a girl who had messaged him out of nowhere having not spoken since they were in high school eight years ago. He started writing about lost connections/reigniting a flame when I said “are you sure she isn’t just trying to sell you some essential oils?” It seemed like a funny and relatable subject to write a song about so we did!” – Lizzie

Lizzie Jack and the Beanstalks present a polished, relatable and emotive track that is a testament to the band’s continued growth since their last release. PYRAMID SCHEME provides a giggle for anyone who has received the “I know we haven’t spoken in a while but” message without being cheesy, and with influences such as Tired Lion, Tiny Stills, Ruby Fields, and Alex Lehey, how could it be?

Following the release of PYRAMID SCHEME, the band will be playing live with their newly earned spot at Yours and Owls festival as well as releasing a cache of new music over the coming year.
