WILLARIS. K RELEASES

LUSTRE/FULL NOISE

(REMIXES) EP

Electronic powerhouse Willaris. K has roped in six equally impressive friends to reinvent his relished tracks ‘INDIFFERENT (with Gordi)’, ‘CHAPEL (feat. WaveIQ)’, and ‘5 O’CLOCK’, for the sonically diverse LUSTRE/FULL NOISE (REMIXES), out now via Soothsayer.

This hexadic release follows Willaris. K’s official remixes for Grammy-nominated artists Flume and RÜFÜS DU SOL last year – as well as a HBO collaboration, scoring the trailer for series Love Is featuring an adaptation of his popular ambient track ‘Past Light’. With a foot now firmly in the world of scoring, a US TV series piece is also in the works alongside the incredibly talented Alex Somers (Sigur Ros producer, Black Mirror score).

Free-spirited ambient/acid house producer and pianist Model Man – Mark Brandon – embodies beauty and depth in his first collaboration with Willaris. K for ‘INDIFFERENT (with Gordi) (Model Man Remix)’, heroing Gordi’s stunning vocals atop an immaculately detailed arrangement of fluttering pianos and ornate, textural ear candy.

For ‘CHAPEL (feat. WaveIQ)’, lauded German electronic talent Boyz Noize transforms Willaris. K’s rap-rave ready track into a relentless tech-driven warehouse anthem, with the remix already played around the world by DJs including Solomun and the late, legendary Virgil Abloh. London-based DJ and producer TSHA has created a version that is diverse and intricate, evoking even deeper melancholy through searing synth lines and pulsating rhythms. Following a longstanding friendship since their club DJ’ing days, Australian techno purveyor Skin On Skin has unpacked the epic song and wrung it dry, reconstituting itself as an out-and-out slamming techno heater that has been a staple and fan favourite from both artist’s recent live shows.

Paris-based musician, Phantasy Sound member and Daniel Avery collaborator, Ghost Culture reinterprets ‘5 O’CLOCK’ from a heavier viewpoint, with his eyes firmly set on the club at peak time; while Juno Mamba’s debut remix arrives by integrating live instrumentation and spoken word samples that soar to a euphoric natural crescendo.

The Lustre and Full Noise EPs were met with praise from Radio 1, triple j, Mixmag, The Guardian UK, and Beats 1, among other global tastemakers. The two EPs present a varied package of electronica, ambient, and techno cuts that showcase Willaris. K’s artistic depth.

From his first track to incorporate vocals, to his abstract dancefloor rhythms, they are a robust reflection of sonic and personal growth several years after his debut album Alchemy, with his eclectic body of work drawing comparisons to a league of greats like Jon Hopkins, Brian Eno, and William Basinski.

Willaris. K’s previous career as an electrical instrumentation technician led him to music on an unconventional path. While on duty, he’d collect field recordings as he walked through the bushland and across the metal trays that protected the electrical cables, later morphing them into the tech-driven productions that brought Willaris. K to life.

The broad sonic palette of LUSTRE/FULL NOISE (REMIXES) – from ambient to rap – sets up an intoxicating next chapter for Willaris. K.
