THE STILE RELEASE BRAND NEW EP ‘HEAVY HEARTS’

THE STILE RELEASE BRAND NEW EP

HEAVY HEARTS

Brisbane rock outfit The Stile have released their highly anticipated EP, Heavy Hearts. The new EP reveals a darker and more personal side to The Stile, juxtaposing against their previous singles. The Stile, comprised of Nathan Christie (bass, vocals), Jared Lourigan (guitar) and William Tulloch (drums) are currently in intensive rehearsals for various live appearances across Queensland.

The Stile recorded Heavy Hearts over the first six months of 2020. The EP was produced by Jeremy Edwards and Zak Brown. The seven tracks span various genres. One can hear the band’s classic rock influences on tracks such as “Reimagine” and “Ghostin’ Me”, as well as the band’s electric-folk and electronic ambient leanings on “Feet May Fail” and “Love You Endlessly”. As the band came to grips with world events and committed their personal feelings to tape, the sonic direction of Heavy Hearts shifted into something darker than expected.

“This has been the most enjoyable and musically honest project we’ve done. The tone of this EP captures the essence of how this tumultuous year has felt for us. It wasn’t a conscious decision to take this darker direction, our instruments just became a conduit for how we felt,” says guitarist Jared Lourigan. Long-time fans know The Stile by their larger-than-life personas and live appearances. Heavy Hearts in many ways has undone this image and recalibrated it in a wholly new “heart on the sleeve” style.

The Stile’s goal has always been to instil the attitude of being what you want to be and this time, they have achieved it through being completely defenseless and emotionally raw.
