THE COMFORT DROP

EMPOWERING NEW

SINGLE “SUPERNOVA”

FEAT AJ PERDOMO OF

THE DANGEROUS SUMMER

Brisbane alternative rock band The Comfort today share their third single, “Supernova” featuring AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer, from their long-awaited sophomore album ‘Experience Everything. Live And Die.’ out November 11 via Greyscale Records. Pre-order’s live now.

Produced, mixed and mastered by Jimmy Alexander (Awaken I Am, Slaves, alt.), the single is a twinkling, triumphant and empowering offering that seeks to uplift listeners with its honest lyricism, recounting the process of feeling the lows to be able to get back up from them again.

Supernova is about living a conscious life,” tells vocalist and songwriter Liam Holmes. “It’s about making hard choices for a better future that is true to who you really are, not letting things outside of yourself dictate your path, and experiencing the full spectrum of emotions even when they’re challenging.”

Written through difficult times, the track became a cathartic release for Holmes when his crossroads offered up either distraction without growth or pain with change. He chose the latter and learnt to sit with the bad and let it break him down in order to rebuild.

Our culture constantly encourages avoidance of the negative. It teaches us to seek safety, pleasure and comfort at the expense of growth. How can you learn from your past if you try to forget it? I’ve learnt you need to sit with every experience in it’s totality, lean into the void and feel everything you can. This is the only way to grow. While the title and lyrics nod to Oasis, it’s also a metaphor for the collapse of one thing leading to something new and beautiful.

In June the band unveiled their forthcoming album’s release date and track listing, which not only welcomes special guest AJ Perdomo to the project, but also Dylan Davidson of Deadlights. The band divulged exclusive information on their new LP in an interview with Boolin Tunes, to be read here.

Previous singles”Conformist” and “Love Is A Dying Plant” were the first tastes of the new record. Before this, The Comfort took an indefinite hiatus at the end of 2019 and had considered calling it a day as a band. After spending an unexpected couple of years mostly confined within four walls ruminating on the human experience, the band poured their excess energy into exploring the present and looking toward a future of gratitude and understanding, as heard on ‘Experience Everything. Live And Die‘.

The Comfort is Dominic Harper (vocals/bass), Liam Holmes (vocals/guitar), Marcus Parente (guitar) and Izaac Calrow (drums). The quartet first cemented their status in alternative music world with the wildly popular ‘Love’ EP which collected over 5 million Spotify streams worldwide before they pushed the boundaries of their creativity with their debut album ‘What It Is To Be’. The four-piece left listeners with the devastating single “Pain” before the pandemic sunk its teeth in, a brutally honest anthem exploring the depths of mental health.

The band have shared the stage with the likes of Thrice (USA), Circa Survive (USA), The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (USA), Don Broco (UK) and recently finished up their national tour alongside Waxflower. The Comfort are looking forward to sharing more from this new chapter, uncovering everything they’ve experienced so far through the journey of life and death.
