I Know Fire

Singer, Producer and multi-instrumentalist Sparrows (Jessica Nitties) unveils her new single ‘I Know Fire’ today. The track soars with synth-pop vibes and pulsating production which will have listeners yearning for club nights out.

Ever evolving, Sparrows says ‘I Know Fire’ “has taught me so many lessons. Most importantly surrendering to your inner fire and letting it guide you, not control you. This song hopefully empowers the listener to feel their inner fire and know that it’s always there to breathe in, an eternal flame – even if some days it feels like a spark.”

Sharing the genesis of ‘I Know Fire’, Sparrows says “It’s a beautiful thing to bask in the potential of a situation however it can be a dangerous distraction from what is. I wrote this song from a place of craving beautiful yet distant memories. I became infatuated with the idea of the potential of refueling them, claiming in the first line ‘I know fire we could light’. I remember standing at my piano, from a place of tremendous hurt, so sad that I couldn’t sing without breaking down. Through my tears and blocked nose I managed to mutter a hum using 3 barely-there notes. It was a small yet guiding voice that slowly evolved into a chant that steered me out of a make-believe world I had found myself drowning in. It was my inner fire guiding me.”

‘I Know Fire’ is the follow up to acclaimed singles ‘Hide and Seek’, ‘Sexy Solitude’ and ‘Over & Out,’ and had a dream team bringing the song to life. It was produced by Sparrows and Mario Spate (Tkay Maidza, Megan Washington, Montaigne) at an Apra SongHub, 301 Studios, Sydney. With additional production by Elizabeth Maniscalco, aka Brux (Flight Facilities), George Nicholas (Stevan, Golden Vessel, Cosmo’s Midnight), mixing the track, and mastering by Ryan Schwabe (Thandi Phoenix, Winston Surfshirt).

“The song came to fruition when I took the half-demo/idea to an APRA songhub. It was such an amazing experience being able to watch this song grow with other talented music-makers. With additional production by Brux and mixing by George Nicholas.” Sparrows

Sparrows’ profile has grown significantly since supporting Northeast Party House on their sold out national ‘Magnify’ tour in 2019. Her single ‘Over & Out’ was added to full rotation on Triple J and FBi Radio, making her Indie Artist of the Week. Her songs have secured support across numerous Spotify playlists, and Apple Music ‘Best of the Week’ & ‘The A-List Electronic’ playlists with over 5million streams and counting.
