REVEAL ELECTRIC

NEW SINGLE + VIDEO

‘BLUEPRINT’

After teasing fans with curious advertisements on socials over the last few weeks, Australian favourites Slowly Slowly have finally revealed their iconic new single and music video ‘Blueprint’ today.

From its pulsing verses to its electric chorus, ‘Blueprint’, mixed by Jon Gilmore (The 1975, Beabadoobee), is born to be a head bang-worthy festival crowd favourite. Filled with unique lyrics and musical touches, the track displays a familiar Slowly Slowly dipped in a refreshing new light.

Frontman Ben Stewart explains how ‘Blueprint’ originated after a party with his nearest and dearest just before COVID last year. He describes the complete elation at having so many of his loved ones in the room, and how the track immediately flowed out of him the following morning.

“There was no awkward small talk, no drugs needed to stimulate conversation (granted there was booze), but I’ve got a feeling it was mostly the blistering loud music and the fact we hadn’t all been together in so long. Honestly my house was destroyed the next day, but strangely it just reminded me of what it means to come home to something,” he shares.

“Throughout lockdown that feeling of elation completely faded into a distant memory. This song then became something we planned to release after the harshness of it all had blown over — a party track that could become somewhat of a “fist-in-the-air’ moment after realising what we’d all been fighting for.”

Today’s ‘Blueprint’ music video finds Stewart and his bandmates — Albert Doan (guitar), Alex Quayle (bass) & Patrick Murphy (drums)  battling mundane lives and jobs before coming together for a night of chaos. Watch it below.

On crafting the ‘Blueprint’ music video, Stewart elaborates:

“This video was so fun to make. It was also a welcome challenge to create alter egos which we then had to flesh out in a solo setting  it wasn’t something that we have done before, but I like the pressure under the spotlight without others to lean on. I feel like this is the first video that really tested our acting skills (if you can call them skills haha) we were waiting for the others to finish their parts so we could see how they did, you know? Seeing how we stacked up. We were all pushing each other I couldn’t imagine a more supportive crew as Kyle & everyone else on set really brought the best out in us.“

Director Kyle Caulfield adds: “‘Blueprint’ was by far the most ambitious and venturous project I’ve worked on, it was quite a reckless yet extremely rewarding and creative process. The ultimate ambition for the film was to mirror the new sound for Slowly and bring together a new Slowly universe. Using references from all corners of film, we wanted to build out a light and fun narrative, but our vision was to create impacting and timeless visuals that reflected the energy of the track, while maintaining a fun and goofy character exploration that stays true to the band in real life.”

The release of ‘Blueprint’ comes after Slowly Slowly announced a huge list of added dates and venue upgrades to their 2021 national headline tour, and revealed label-mates Yours Truly as special guests. Fresh from the release of their February album Race Car Blues – Chapter 2 (listen here), this full band headliner will see Slowly Slowly finally able to celebrate the release of both this and their 2020 record Race Car Blues.

Both albums enjoyed coveted feature positions on triple j, bagged knockout global reviews and together have garnered over 11 Million streams to date. Slowly Slowly take Race Car Blues Chapters 1 & 2 around Australia in June/July. Full details and tickets below.
