SHALLOU ANNOUNCES

THE LONG WAY HOME EP

+ RELEASES GENTLE

“HIGH TIDE”

Los Angeles-based producer Shallou has announced his highly anticipated The Long Way Home EP via FADER Label. It comes alongside a subtle, stunning indie-electronic single called‘High Tide’ that echoes the gentle swells of the moon’s push and pull. The exciting news also follows up the recently released ‘Heartaches‘ which was praised by the likes of EDM.com for its “euphoric dance drop and wistful guitar riff.” In addition, Shallou is headed out on The Long Way Home tour this fall with shows already sold out in Boston, Los Angeles, New York City, and Portland (tickets available here).

Behind the inspiration of The Long Way Home, Shallou explains, “After watching the joy and excitement about the possibilities for my previous album and the tour surrounding it get swallowed by the new reality of COVID, I was nervous to put too much faith and energy into a new creative endeavour. I often struggled to create and felt further from this ‘home.’ It was a constant struggle that the EP has come to represent: it felt like I was out at sea, trying to paddle back.

As for ‘High Tide,’ he adds, “I started ‘High Tide’ in 2019, looking for a new high energy cut to add to my live show. I couldn’t find the right melodies for it, so I reached out to one of my favorite writers in the genre, Jarrah McCleary aka Panama. We discovered that we have a similar writing style paired with a breathy falsetto. We both related to this feeling of drowning during quarantine, and finished the song with only a Zoom meeting and a few emails!

Shallou is hot off the success of his 2020 debut album, Magical Thinking, which has reeled in over 80 million streams to date and includes crowd pleasers ‘Older‘ featuring Daya, ‘Good Together’ featuring Ashe, and more. The record received praise from the likes of Magnetic Mag for “soaring melodic tracks with collaborations that push the envelope” and reflects “the search to find one’s place in the world.” He topped off 2020 with the summer anthem, ‘I Leave Again,’ in collaboration with French connoisseur Petit Biscuit and is finally prepared to make waves in 2021.
