When speaking about the song ‘Blue was a release of someone I cared for deeply. I reached my breaking point, and realized I was in love with illusions and ideas I created based on the mask that person presented to me. It all came from one night they dropped me home late, cried to me, and seemed to just disappear after. The one time I needed help, I felt like a burden and I couldn’t handle the emotion and pain it brought up. I then had a dream about this night, and at the end of the dream I close my eyes in bed and drift away like I never existed. Blue represents a death and rebirth, a falling out of love, and a release. They made me feel weak and worthless, but in this song I took my power back. I said what I had to say and I let go.”

Selina crafts songs that are introspective, somber, and compelling. “Blue,” the singer song-writer’s latest single, draws a comparison between the vulnerable reality of love and the illusionistic eeriness that stems from her personal fantasies. Portland, Oregon native, Selina pairs lingering synths with layers of atmospheric vocals to create a unique blend of R&B and Indie music. Selina reflected upon her personal journey with her debut album, “111,” in January 2020, and EP “Larvae,” which released in March 2020.
Her sultry tunes and mature lyrical messages of healing and consoling others through music inspired an emerging fan base for the talented 17 year old. This was only the beginning. Inspiration for Selina’s latest release, Blue, came to her one night as she was writing music on her guitar, a skill she has cultivated since the young age of five. Starting with the hook, Selina wove a melodic dreamscape of rhythmic ebbs and flows into haunting and emotionally driven melodies and lyrics. ”Dreams are what you’re made of”, a lyrical motif throughout Blue, is brought to life via a collaboration with producer and beat master, Stoic Beats. The arrangement of the song is rooted in the experience of deja vu and reliving a dream recalling the pain and suffering of lost love.
