MIA WRAY RELEASES

THE STRIKING VIDEO

FOR HER NEW SINGLE

‘EVIDENCE’

What started as a “sad ballad” to exorcise the terrifying experience of being stalked after a gig has turned into Mia Wray’s empowering comeback song. – triple j Rising pop singer-songwriter Mia Wray has turned the terror of being stalked after a gig into a defiant testament to her strength with new single ‘Evidence’. – Kathy McCabe, Daily Telegraph

Harnessing her boundlessly soaring vocal and songwriting power, Mia Wray’s latest single ‘Evidence’ was met with resounding support. Ahead of her arrival at BIGSOUND next week, Mia unveils the striking video for ‘Evidence’.

Directed by Triana Hernandez, the video skilfully mirrors the song’s intentions, creating a visual experience that is at once hauntingly beautiful and unnerving. Mia’s performance is at the centre of the video, with symbolism adding pointed acuity; a hotel room, a ghostly hand representing the scene, an eery and unsettling experience, and Mia’s ultimate triumph to regain her power.

ABOUT ‘EVIDENCE’: The origin of ‘Evidence’ is dark. It’s shrouded in fear and trauma that Mia has had to process as a result of being preyed on by a stalker and forced to run for safety, after one of her shows. Full single bio HERE. Mia Explains: “After one of my gigs last year, a man stalked me all the way to my motel room with god only knows what intentions. I can’t bring myself to think about it too much. Thankfully I got into my room in time before he could get to me. This was when I learned I can’t walk by myself at night. To this day it still sends shivers down my spine. After letting it get to me for a long time, I decided to write about the experience in a way that would help me feel powerful, even though it was the opposite of how I felt. It started out as a sad ballad and then with the help of the incredible Rob Amoruso and Pip Norman, we were able to transform it into a song that makes me feel genuinely strong and empowered. I know that a lot of women have experienced similar ordeals so I hope this song can help them too.” – Mia Wray
