‘WINNIE CRUSH (ACOUSTIC)’

VIDEO + ANNOUNCES

NEW SHOWS

Sydney singer-songwriter merci, mercy shares the colourful live video for the acoustic version of current single ‘Winnie Crush’. The video arrives alongside the news of merci, mercy’s inclusion on The Squeeze Festival next year, where she will join a stacked line-up including Lime Cordiale, Thelma Plum, Client Liaison and more for a 12-date, national run. The shows will follow merci, mercy’s own headline dates in February and additional performances in support of Flight Facilities.

The full run of dates, spanning February through till May next year, will see merci, mercy play her first ever headline shows outside of NSW. Audiences in the artist’s home state are now well-accustomed to her charming and energetic live sets, following sold-out shows at the tail-end of last year, support slots for Matt Corby and Bernard Fanning, and mid-year appearances at Next Exit Festival.

merci, mercy’s current single ‘Winnie Crush’ is a breezy-feeling dive into the fine line between self-care and indulgence. Added to triple j on release and earning praise from tastemakers like Zane Lowe, Jack Saunders, NME and Clash Magazine, the irresistible bop has now been stunningly stripped to its bare bones with the aid of Byron-based producer, Chris Collins. The memorable new take arrives with a playful accompanying live video filmed by Billy Zammit at the iconic Redfern Convenience Store in Sydney.

“I love a good convenience store and it was so awesome to be able to film the acoustic video in one. They’re my go to place to buy cigs as they are usually the cheapest there. To everyone who made this video come to life, I love you, you are all super cool!! Hope you enjoy.” – merci, mercy

‘Winnie Crush’ is a continuation of the rising pop artist’s unflinching honesty and palpable vulnerability, which were immediately apparent on her debut EP, no thank you, no thanks. Fuelled by the viral hit ‘Fucked Myself Up’, the project went on to amass over 11 million Spotify and Apple Music streams. Since her debut, merci, mercy has featured on more than 100 New Music Friday Spotify playlists in over 38 countries, as well as Apple Music’s Today’s Hits, Future Hits, A-List Pop, and Alt Pop playlists, and many more.
