After releasing her debut EP ‘Cash Only’ earlier this month; a collection of seven songs touching on themes that range from addiction, breaking hearts, heartbreaks, wild nights & regret, first relationships, coming out and owning everything that you are with no apologies, Brisbane’s Hope D today releases the video for feature single “Addict”, and announces even more shows added to her sold out headline tour.
A frank and sincere track about a gambling addiction she had when she turned 18, “Addict” is a real recount of the feelings, regrets, and surroundings of going through the very loopy and hallucinogenic period of time becoming addicted. The video mirrors these feelings, turning them into hyper-real, menacing, and exaggerated theatrical representations (feat VOIID) of the manic and bizarre mental and physical delirium wormhole Hope dove into during that time.
“Recording the clip for Addict was extremely therapeutic for me” says Hope, “It brought back a lot of those feelings of anxiety and sickness that I had back when I was sitting around those tables for real.
I found acting as the joker kind of natural. I just went a bit manic and wild, which was super fun to act out. They hairsprayed my hair until I thought it was going to crack in half, and it is still recovering – my hair feels like uncooked spaghetti. Overall though, I am so stoked with this video, It’s super cool to be able to watch it back and just feel grateful that I’m out of that spiral, and I am super keen for people to see it and feel how I felt during that frantically grim time.”
After selling out the first run of shows,Hope is also today announcing additional shows have been added in Brisbane, Melbourne,Sydney, and Adelaide. She is also stoked to announce the support acts joining her for the tour, including: Harper Bloom, Flamingo Blonde, Mum Friends, Lili Crane, Chelsea Warner, Adam Newling, and Seathru. This tour will be Hope’s first headline interstate shows, and a chance for fans to witness her electric, charismatic, and passionate live set IRL.

Introducing herself in late 2019 with her debut single “Swim”, Hope D captivated audiences with her eclectic capability to create purposeful, confessional and captivating music. This release led her to taking home the inaugural QMusic Emerging Artist Award, performances at BIGSOUND 2019, Splendour In The Grass, Laneway Festival and King Street Crawl, as well as sold-out headline shows in her hometown Brisbane.
The beginning of 2020 saw her release an aptly titled second single named “Second” and then follow up tracks “Common Denominator” and “Miscommunicate”,once again wowing and surprising fans by her change in sound, but maintaining the same inviting charm and razor-sharp wit through her authentically honest, raw and relatable songs. Hope ended 2020 by winning the prestigious Carol Lloyd Award, an initiative aimed to address the gender imbalance in music and support an emerging femxle-identifying or non-binary singer-songwriter.
