“AS THE CROW FLIES”

FT. DAVID DE LA HOZ

AND ANNOUNCE NEW EP

Adelaide melodic metallers Heartline today share their explosive new single “As The Crow Flies” featuring none other than alternative powerhouse David De La Hoz (Wither/Belle Haven). “As The Crow Flies” also marks the first single to be released from forthcoming EP, ‘I Call For The Sinking Warmth’, available on Friday March 26.

“As The Crow Flies” is mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc (Polaris, Gravemind, Diamond Construct, Thornhill) and weaves its way through electronic interludes and hard hitting segments that master the contrasting light and dark.

The single premiered at Maniacs yesterday, who accompanied with a rave review: “There’s a level of songwriting maturity on display here that is rarely seen from a band so fresh into their journey, and they do a fantastic job of striking the delicate duality between melody and heaviness, with down-tuned cybernetic riffs, electronic elements and a crushing breakdown at the end too. It reminds us a little bit of Node/Alien era Northlane, but still with a distinctly different feel overall.”

The track narrates a struggle with vulnerability and being unable to reach out when in need. The band highlight the theme, explaining that: “The single demonstrates a young person finally confiding in their long time friend and confessing that they are not okay.

“This is something a lot of young people who struggle with mental illness go through – the struggle to admit to vulnerability. However, the twist visually is that he never opens up and is once again inside his head trying to bring himself to do so.”

Heartline is Luke Taylor (vocals), Fraser Stiles (guitar), Nevenko Sarunic (bass) and Michael Cooper (drums). After the group’s formation in 2019, the four-piece released their debut single “Frail” and followed up with their EP ‘Essence’. “Crystal Eyes” came soon after, solidifying the band as ones to watch going forward.

The band received attention and respect early on from their peers and from the alternative scene for their advanced musicianship at such a young age as well as their captivating live show, leading to support slots with some of Australia’s finest metal and alternative acts including Thy Art Is Murder, Gravemind, Diamond Construct, The Brave, RedHook, Wither, Tapestry and Windwaker.

Heartline have earned themselves a loyal fan base and are preparing to take their new presence and sound across the country with their upcoming release ‘I Call For The Sinking Warmth’ – coming very soon.
