Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)

Liberation Records are proud to release the sprawling, esoteric new EP from Emerson SnoweEmerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk is a collection of songs influenced by identity, selfishness, gore and optimism all written, recorded and produced by the artist himself.

Alongside the EP release, Emerson Snowe also shares a video for key track, ‘Man, It Don’t Matter (What They Say)’, a poignant, introspective song about pushing on and moving past negativity.

Emerson Snowe’s Splatterpunk was written mostly over the course of 2019 in a pre-Covid era where life was a different kind of chaotic, that involved playing shows in the US, UK, Europe and Japan, all whilst battling a series of new and old demons. Throughout the EP, the singer/ songwriter/ all-round-creative revisits and reflects on lost relationships, and attempts to accept the confronting realisation that everything must end.

“In a lot of ways I can relate myself to Will Smith’s character in ‘Hitch’. The romance coach who is able to show others how to love each other but is unable to do so himself. I’m writing music that people can enjoy and be uplifted by, but most of the time I’m unable to take my own advice.

“I genuinely thought I was writing really uplifting music (when I made Splatterpunk), but I listen back now and realise I wasn’t doing so well emotionally, maybe even physically. I feel as an artist all I can do is show my bare bones and have the EP as a diary entry of my time here on earth. So that’s that. I hope you enjoy.” – Emerson Snowe

Featuring the singles ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘You’re My Boy, Baby!’, the collection marks Emerson Snowe’s second EP release following his debut, That’s Rock ‘n’ Roll. Both ‘Frankenstein’ and ‘You’re My Boy, Baby!’ have won praise from global sites including Under The Radar, DIY, Clash, So Young, Riot Magazine, The Guardian and NME, plus received multiple spins from Jack Saunders at BBC Radio 1 and Hanuman Welch at Apple 1. The songs have also garnered widespread play across radio stations in Germany, Switzerland and Italy, in addition to airplay at triple j and community radio locally.

From Brisbane originally, Emerson Snowe has toured with King Krule and GUM, and spent the last few years overseas, finding kindred spirits within music, fashion and creative circles. He hopes to return to the live scene soon with shows in his current home of Germany.
