Releasing his new single ‘Lovelost’, Sydney songwriter Dominic Breen has once again captivated fans and newcomers alike. The track premiered on Tone Deaf and has already been added to 2SER, been featured by NME Australia, AIR and Apple Music’s ‘New Music Daily’; and received a stack of spins on FBi.

For listeners coming to Dominic Breen for the first time, ‘Lovelost’ is the perfect introduction to one of Sydney’s most magnetic talents. For those who have been on the journey with Breen since 2018, it reaffirms the consistency of this gifted and prolific songwriter.

Now, Breen reveals the music video for ‘Lovelost’. A set of visuals to match the energy of the song, the black and white video shows an agitated Breen driving the streets of Sydney’s Inner West and encountering a host of quirky characters.

Director Madeleine Purdy says “Lovelost is oxymoronic – a sad song encased in happy music, and similarly our shoot day was essentially Kafkaesque, but we all had such a lovely time. We spent the whole day driving around circles, in the rain, in Dom’s beat up van, talking about our unexpected architectural crushes in Marrickville and meeting people along the way.”

Lovelost’ is the first single to be taken from Dominic Breen’s forthcoming debut album. The album saw Breen work with Tim Fitz (Middle Kids) on production and mixing, and is due for an early 2021 release through Double Drummer/Believe.

PRAISE FOR ‘LOVELOST’

“Dominic’s voice and nature always grabs me and I love the breakout moments in this song, which is so full of spirit.” Triple J, Declan Byrne

“A stunning example of what is still to come from this magnetic and immersive artist, ‘Lovelost’ is another step forward in what is already an incredible and enviable career.”
Tone Deaf

“The perfect blend of jangle, lived experience vocals, and even a War on Drugs inspired “woo!”. A lightness to some dark times.” Double J Zan Rowe

“Dom is doing the antipodean indie thing as well as anyone out atm. This breezy jangle has found that sweet spot between dusty Australiana and UK guitar bands from the ’80s.”
Triple J Unearthed Dave Ruby Howe

“Dom is a singular voice in Sydney – a true artist and songwriter. Every Dom Breen song has its own unique spirit. Lovelost has this howling, frenetic energy, and an inner sensitivity.”
Tim Fitz, Middle Kids
