BOO SEEKA

ANNOUNCES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘TRIPWIRE

 + NATIONAL TOUR

Boo Seeka has today unveiled a new acoustic-driven single, Tripwire. In a complete change of pace for the electro-pop star, the deeply heartfelt, expressive song that mourns the loss of normalcy is released today, August 19.

Accompanying the release is a video clip, aligned in essence and feel. The visuals are soft, raw, and natural, filmed on a farm in Margaret River, WA and they capture a perfect pairing to the haunting loneliness and beauty of the track.

To celebrate the release of TripwireBoo Seeka will be hitting the road over September and October, kicking off proceedings at Beach Hotel at Byron Bay on September 24, then moving through Brisbane, Melbourne, Hobart, Launceston, Sydney, Adelaide, and wrapping up at Magnet House in Perth on October 16.

Tripwire is a huge revelation from a musician who has garnered millions of streams from the untouchable electronic pop chops, to release an acoustic guitar/orchestral driven track.  But that’s just who Boo Seeka is – at the core, a very special songwriter.

Whether that song is peppered with synths and drum machines or whether it’s simply Boo’s phenomenal voice and an acoustic guitar.  Tripwire is straight from the heart. Strings fly amongst steady acoustics and Boo’s emotive vocal, and there’s just no denying the talent and passion in this recording.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, and the reason why he decided to strip it all back to basics, Boo explains, “The songwriting for Tripwire is really direct, I’m wearing my heart on my sleeve with this one… I realised I was writing about myself, and the stuff I was going through, which was hitting me pretty hard if I’m being honest.

Writing on an acoustic guitar has always been a part of my process and usually, it would just be used to figure out the chords and structure of the song, and then it would be built into an electronic track. With Tripwire, we used the same template, but nothing we built sonically got close to the emotion, and the rawness of the acoustic version. It’s super different to the typical Boo Seeka sound, but the diversity of the upcoming album is something I’m very proud of, and releasing it as the first single is the perfect way to kick it off”.

The video for Tripwire

is simple, stark, and contemplative.  The lone figure, dressed all in white, walks across a vast, empty field – as the song swells, the woman begins to run, then sprint.  As the music ends, she stands still, alone, in the silence.

Speaking on the creation of the clip, Boo says, “Originally I was going to fly to WA to shoot this clip but Covid once again got in the way.  My manager Cohen and his mate, Lachlan Ross (of production company Halves and Quarters) set out with Meg Charnaud (actor) on a last-minute adventure to shoot the clip on a farm close to Margaret River, Western Australia.

Lachy is the mastermind behind the whole thing, and I love the beauty of it.  It’s a simple yet effective clip capturing the emotion of trying to run away from all things negative.  Something myself and everyone around me is going through right now.”

Boo Seeka is an established mainstay within the live music scene across Australia, bringing captivating tunes and alluring energy to audiences all over the country.
