New Single and Clip

Will To Power

After making their live debut with a handful of sold-out shows in Melbourne earlier this year, Springtime announce their self-titled debut Springtime out November 5th, 2021 via TFS Records and Joyful Noise Recordings.

Kicking off with lead single ‘Will To Power’ alongside a Matt McGuigan-directed clip.

“The human race as a whole just can’t seem to do nothing. They have to do more, more, more.  Why can’t they just lounge about like lizards or kangaroos?  What’s wrong with that? Look at rocks, they exist. Job done, game over. No need to do or be anything more. And why does the universe exist? For something so fundamentally elegant and simple it sure is overcooked. You want simplicity and elegance? How about just not existing at all. Why the need to be anything? it’s so needless. Will To Power is just a disco jam about all that,” said Gareth.

Springtime is the culmination of three renowned, multidisciplinary musicians each known for distinct styles and sounds—a new endeavour that is as much a tonal experiment as it is a meditation on modern-day absurdity. Their self-titled debut combines elements of art-rock, experimental noise, poignant lyricism, free jazz and improvisation to craft austere portraits of a world paralyzed by shellshock.

Several of Springtime’s songs were made in collaboration between the band and Liddiard’s uncle, Ian Duhig, a world-renowned poet who has twice won The National Poetry Competition (in 1987 and 2000), the UK’s most prestigious poetry award. Duhig’s poems laid the groundwork for the songs “Viaduct Love Suicide” and “Jeanie In A Bottle” (the latter featuring vocals from The Drones & Tropical Fuck Storm’s Fiona Kitschin), which were later crafted into sprawling songs led by Liddiard’s wild-eyed vocals and guitar work as White and Abrahams lay down stuttering strings.

Fizzling electronics, and feathery piano melodies. Later, on the album’s penultimate track, we hear a cover of Will Oldham’s “West Palm Beach” that was recorded live, treated with love and respect, and would certainly be met with open arms by the author.

RETURN WITH SENTIMENTAL NEW CUT

NOW OR LATER

Sydney-based indie-pop four-piece 90ivy (formerly The Flowers) are set to release their wistful new single ‘Now Or Later’ – produced by Peter Holz (Gang Of YouthsVance JoyPeking Duk).

Reflective and richly nostalgic, ‘Now Or Later’ is a sophisticated slice of indie-pop, led by the quaint storytelling and endearing vocals of lead singer Agnes O’Dwyer. The dynamics deftly lift and fall as captivating lead guitar riffs intertwine playfully with bright percussion and warm, syncopated bass. The track takes an unexpected turn into its ethereal bridge, before a cathartic final chorus bursts with explosive brightness.

The track takes an unexpected turn into its ethereal bridge, before a cathartic final chorus bursts with explosive brightness.

Agnes talks about the meaning behind ‘Now Or Later’:

“‘Now Or Later’ is our happy-sad take on a breakup song – we love exploring contrast with our music, and this track is a good example of that as we juxtapose upbeat melodies and instrumentation with storytelling centred around heartbreak. The track came together so organically. Tom just started playing around with this bouncy, syncopated bass line during one of our jam sessions. It immediately caught all of our attention, and everyone stopped what they were doing to figure the song out. Liam came up with his infectious, 1975-esque riff almost immediately and the verse and chorus lines came to me on the spot, which very rarely happens.”

Previous singles ‘Truly Madly Sleepy’ and ‘You Don’t Say!’ were added to rotation on triple j, with the band’s whole catalogue also seeing extensive support from Australian community radio and triple j Unearthed, where they were announced as the #36 most played artist in their debut year. Their releases have also been widely embraced by the likes of SpotifyApple Music and blog tastemakers NMEThe GuardianLife Without AndyTrouble JuiceWomen In Pop and Thomas Bleach.

In the live arena, the band have made a name for themselves in Sydney’s burgeoning indie-rock scene and supported some of the country’s most exciting up and coming artists in EGOISMGreat GableCLEWSYorkeJess DayObscura HailTeenage DadsThe Moving StillsThe Million and Timi Temple.

SHELLEY SEGAL SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘SING’  –

SHELLEY SEGAL

SHELLEY SEGAL

SHARES NEW SINGLE

SING

A TRIBUTE TO ARTISTS ACROSS THE GLOBE

Spirited LA-based Aussie singer songwriter Shelley Segal knows the power and influence of music in our lives as well as anyone. Writing and performing from the age of eleven, Shelley has toured the globe several times over, playing to festival crowds of over 30,000 and for small grassroots communities and campaigners alike. And today she shares new single Sing with her Australian fans, melding her usual acoustic guitar-driven storytelling with a strong pop beat and uplifting choral backing vocals, this time as a tribute to musicians, artists and creators.

This is a difficult time for everybody through the pandemic but especially for artists and musicians who have lost their income and ability to tour and promote their records. This song is a tribute to those who put themselves out there, and a reminder to myself as well, of the power and impact that music has,” Shelley says, “we need artists now more than ever.”

Unable to tour these last two years like artists the world over, Shelley has been producing, recording and releasing new music from her home studio in Los Angeles, with early 2021 singles Pull You Down and Ghostly Afterimage receiving brilliant love from US blogs and playlists, building the anticipation for her upcoming EP Prove You Wrong which is set for release later this year. Shelley’s also been writing for a plethora of artists, with eleven of her co-writes released this past year, including one with local legend Nick Broadhurst (Sneaky Sound System) and landed two songs in the semi finals of the International Songwriting Competition.

The prolific artist has certainly made the most of these covid times. Growing the publishing arm of the record label she founded in Melbourne with her father in 2013, True Music. Now five years in LA, she’s also opened a studio and music production house alongside prolific songwriter and producer Prince Chapelle (NCT 127, Chris Brown, Super Junior). The pair are working on diverse projects locally and around the globe, including Shelley’s features Fall In. With established trance producer Activa for Black Hole Recordings (notching up 150,000 streams in the last few weeks) and SELF with T E M P O (Currently over 600,000 streams).

“While these last two years have been so tough without touring, I’ve been very lucky to have participated in the Sounds Australia Program, ‘Global Music Match’ collaborating with artists from around the world. I was also a part of AIR’s Women in Music mentorship program. While off the road I’ve been building my label True Music, growing the publishing arm of the label, I’ve been working on songs for artists and landing sync placements for film and TV,” Shelley explains. “A recent sync highlight was an HBO Max placement on ‘The Hype’ episode with Cardi B and we had an incredible win this week, as a publisher for Prince on his co-write with Kpop band NCT 127’s ‘Sticker’ which debuted this week at #2 in world on iTunes with over 2.2 million preorders. It’s really mind-blowing. The song was premiered on the Late Late show with James Corden on Saturday and the video has racked up 48 million streams in just days. We’re so proud to share in this amazing achievement with Prince.

I feel really inspired when I think back to starting True Music back in 2013. I started the label with my dad who is a professional musician and has been playing locally for over forty years. We initially started the label to release our own music and to look back and see how far we’ve come, it’s very emotional.”

Known for her explicit and heartfelt lyrics, Sing is true to form for Shelley. The song’s message to artists is clear from the start, opening, “You give the gift of song, when there’s so much in this world that’s going wrong.” Each chorus reaffirms her resounding belief in “the power that you bring, every time you sing.”

And fans can look forward to more singles from Shelley over the coming months before she drops her new EP, Prove You Wrong in December.

Sing is out now.

MAZY

RELEASE SUN-DRENCHED GROOVER

FLOWERS

Earlier this year, Marrickville trio Mazy returned with the promise of an abundance of music to solidify their presence in Sydney’s music scene. Recently releasing the mesmerising single and W.A.M Bleakley directed video for ‘You Got Me’, today the trio stay true to their word, announcing the next installment of the Mazy saga with the release of their new single ‘Flowers’ on Sweat It Out.

The trio once again embrace the neo-psychedelic, brit-rock soundscape they’ve become known for, whilst introducing brass elements to create a sundrenched soul warmer. Showing off their musical prowess with a magical breakdown filled with divine guitar riffs and synth arpeggios, the track then speeds up to finish in a flurry of colourful harmonies and energetic instrumentation.

Tackling the songwriting process from a whole new angle, and paying homage to some of their favourite musicians, the trio share, “This track was definitely a fun one to work on. We wanted to dive into a 60’s sound palette that we all love and see where it took us. A lot of the time we’ll write songs completely on an acoustic before thinking about production so tackling this one using the experience as the inspiration was a nice change.  Brian Wilson is a massive influence for us and we definitely took a nod to him with the harmonies in the chorus. We wanted the sonic vibe to really paint the lyric and create a colourful, mercurial world that was unpredictable and.. yeah, psychedelic. We love playing this track live and the faster tempo and high energy is a welcome change from some of our slower songs.”

Consisting of Ben Tierney (Vocals/Guitar), Tim Grimes (Keys/Percussion/Vocals) and Sam Clayton (Bass/Vocals), the band fuses rock n roll, acid house, pop, and dance into a kaleidoscopic explosion of colour and noise.

Recruiting Kim Moyes (from The Presets) for mixing duties, Mazy blends hypnotic vocal melodies with anthemic guitars and soaring synth hooks which echo the likes of Jagwar Ma, POND, The Beach Boys and The Stone Roses. Exploding back onto the scene with the release of ‘You Got Me’. The trio have been quick to earn wide acclaim from the likes of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Acid Stag, Life Without Andy, The Music, and Something You Said, with a very special performance recorded live in Sydney for Mood On The Roof.

REVEAL HYPNOTIC DEBUT SELF-TITLED ALBUM

Melbourne-based surf-rock group Majak Door have just unveiled their compelling debut self-titled album – produced by Daniel Caswell (Dune RatsBad//DreemsThe Living End) and the band themselves.

The album consists of twelve enthralling tracks of resounding, dreamy indie music that floats and sparkles with intricate competencies that accentuate the elements that have come to define Majak Door’s distinctive sound.

“The album as a whole touches on many different areas,” the band comments on the themes of ‘Majak Door’. “Nostalgia, friendship, politics, and anything else that crosses the mind of a 20-something-year-old.”

Opening track ‘Champagne Brown’ sets the tone with a natural atmosphere of percussion and absorbing bass amidst a floating layer of reverberated guitars. The succulent serenity accentuated by the subtle vocals and liquescent structure flows into the familiar second track ‘L’acqua Salata (Ain’t So Sweet)‘, where shimmering instrumentation and an alteration of dynamism further spotlight the group’s diversity.

The third track, ‘Will She Leave You’, heightens a graceful journey full of gliding guitars and balmy drums, while the commanding vocals of lead singer Frankie Vakalis interweave with the track’s virulent environment.

Fourth track, ‘One Thing At A Time’, begins with elegant chorus-laden leads and a calming rhythm section, while charming vocals comfortably advance the song towards its tranquil hook. The infectious energy continues with fifth track, ‘The Man’, where a walking bassline and graceful harmonies underline a playful and buoyant setting before being brought down by the serene sixth track, ‘King Tide’, where the gorgeous landscape is given further depth by the lusciously strolling arrangement of this dreamy offering.

The seventh track, ‘Everybody Wants You’, is an upbeat cacophony of resonating surf-rock and Brit-pop, overflowing with rich layers of guitars and steady drums. At the same time, harmonious vocals swell and flow amidst the fusion. Track eight and recent offering ‘Smoke In The Air’ introduces imposing synths as the tempo drops to a stoical pace, brimming with all the iridescent elements of prodigious indie music, before transitioning into ninth track ‘Headspin‘, where an entrancing texture prowls and intensifies the kaleidoscopic ambience, as dynamics rise and fall to showcase the band’s alluring chemistry.

Tenth track, ‘They Know We Know’, returns with the Western feel that engulfs the record, as multiple scintillating clean guitars intertwine as the spellbinding structure glides on into the penultimate track, ‘My Nostalgia’, a melancholy and vulnerable number produced with utmost delicacy. The final track, ‘How Do You Feel’, closes out the album with assertive drums and compositional complexities, summarising an extensive body of work from a group that has skillfully shown their capabilities and proficiency.

Previous single ‘Smoke In The Air’ was widely embraced by the likes of triple j Unearthed4ZZZSYN FM and RTR FM, and received online support from The MusicNiche Music (JPN), IGGY Magazine (FRA), AAA Backstage and Milky.

CHELSEA WARNER unveils self-assured coming-of-age new single ‘NOT IN THE MOOD’

CHELSEA WARNER unveils self-assured coming-of-age new single ‘NOT IN THE MOOD’

CHELSEA WARNER

unveils self-assured coming-of-age new single
NOT IN THE MOOD

Announces debut EPDramaout Friday, November 5

Sydney’s Chelsea Warner is back with her second release for the year in ‘Not In The Mood’. Another playful R&B jam, this new song is beginning a period of evolution for Chelsea as a confident lyricist and producer, growing her sound and style with musings on the exploration of self-love and coming of age.

‘Not In The Mood’ was produced by Chelsea Warner, and formidable pop/Alt-R&B artist, songwriter and producer, Maribelle (Vetta Borne) with Matt ‘Xiro’ Fioravanti (Kymie, Tasman Keith, Kwame) as mastering engineer.

“Not In The Mood is about spending quality time with yourself. Hidden within its sassy, standoffish veneer is a profound self-love that says it’s okay to just enjoy your own company. I wrote this track to try and understand myself better, noticing my desire to be more and more introverted. It’s a love song to solitude, and a diss to people who can make you crave it.”
CHELSEA WARNER

The multi-instrumentalist (vocals, keys, guitar, bass) wrote ‘Not In The Mood’ at the beginning of 2020 where the experience of isolation helped trigger potent songwriting ideas, Chelsea saying “I realised just how profoundly fulfilling spending time alone is, and really reconnected with myself for the first time in a while. I also realised it was exhausting interacting with people so often and that, this whole time, I was quite introverted.

Sonically, the track moves between snapshots of gritty, jazzy R&B, laid back vibes and pop music, thus one again showcasing Chelsea’s superior production prowess. “I made the beat first before writing the track, and this was the first time I’d done things in that order. Now it’s one of the main ways I write, since I spend so much time making beats. I remember stumbling on these weird chords when I was playing keys and thinking they were a cool basis for a song, then building everything else up from there! Like everything else last year, writing this was a blur, but I clearly had something I needed to say!”
CHELSEA WARNER

For fans of alt-R&B acts such as Solange, KAYTRANADA and Milan Ring, Chelsea Warner’s debut EP ‘Drama’ sets her apart in Australia’s expanding neo soul scene. The EP features a collection of songs from a young woman evolving from girlhood to a more well rounded brilliant R&B artist in the making.

“My debut EP  is an alternative R&B record that details my coming of age and self-actualisation. ‘Drama’ is the drama of living. The drama of growing up. The theatricality of the world. The way it feels like a stage, or that you’re always waiting to be seen. Either chasing or shrivelling up under the spotlight. The competitive, anxiety-inducing headrush of constantly unpacking the world and your place in it. The invisible audience that shadows you throughout adolescence, informing every moment and every decision. The main character energy in the narrative of coming of age.” Chelsea Warner

Recent projects with Sydney’s Anieszka (‘Presence’, ‘True’) and Melbourne’s Xirita (‘Burnt Toast’), as well as supporting the likes of Hope D, Eluera and Abby Bella May live, have seen Chelsea’s profile grow significantly locally, while also working with noted French producer Roman Kouder on his latest album.

“It has an unwavering confidence to it,” Banks Arcade vocalist Joshua O’Donnell declares of ‘Don’t Start’. “The song is aimed at those who try to tear us down behind closed doors but would never have the guts to front up and say something in person. It also speaks to the fact that most people talking shit the loudest are only doing it because they are threatened by you. It’s important to back yourself and not get too caught up on what others say.

“We are all trying to do this life thing right and we have to heal from shit, and most of the time people saying negative things are just using that as a way to deal with their own trauma. I just let it roll off my back and choose to focus on getting better at what I do.”

JORDAN LASER REVEALS SLOW BURNING SINGLE “100 DAYS OF SOLITUDE”

JORDAN LASER

REVEALS SLOW BURNING SINGLE
100 DAYS OF SOLITUDE

In the age of Coronavirus “100 Days Of Solitude” is nothing less than the collective human experience, though Jordan Laser makes it sound 100% sweeter in her latest single release. No stranger to moody, alternative pop, the Sydney-based singer-songwriter and producer continues to build a hypnotising, cinematic presence with the smoky sonics and melodies she delights us with.

In an obvious tilt towards Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ famous novel (100 Years of Solitude), “100 Days of Solitude” was written during the malaise and contemplation of lockdown last year.

On the track, Jordan said, “I was drinking too much, living on my own and in love with a man who’d just disappeared on me. I had this creeping realisation that he wasn’t who he said he was, which proved to be true. So this song is about trying to find hope in a hopeless situation, and coming out with a little more stamina on the other side.”

With it’s lush guitar-driven landscape and tender vocal delivery, “100 Days of Solitude” is a self-reflective ballad that plunges the low points of a love unreturned during isolation. ‘Even when you keep me lonely, I know how to be my only’ she sings, with a bruising sensitivity that carries us through her song like a quiet stream.

Produced alongside Jack Moffitt (ex The Preatures) and mixed by Dann Hume (Amy SharkMatt CorbySticky Fingers), this latest offering is a testament to Jordan’s growing depth and maturity as an artist. The result is both sparse and expansive, with Moffitt’s rich landscape of guitar tones and textures combined with Jordan’s confessional songwriting and delightful melody making.

“Although I felt incredibly lucky compared to so many others, there was a lot of pain and uncertainty for me in 2020 and it resulted in a return to writing at the piano instead of the computer, and to my love of ballads,” she says. “The ballad form just seemed to soothe the soul in ways that other music didn’t at that time.”

100 Days Of Solitude” follows Jordan’s two recent releases “Slow Motion” and “Battleship,” both of which cemented her signature sound within the world of indie-pop and received praise from Women In Pop, Pilerats, Music Feeds, Milky, Happy Mag, PINNK Magazine and more.

Announce First New Single In Five Years. Listen To ‘Beautiful James

Placebo are today announcing their first new single in five year,  Beautiful James.

Hear Beautiful James on DSPs here and view the visualizer here:

Over the course of more than 25 years, and over 13 million album sales, Placebo have shown themselves to be masters at cataloguing the human condition. The band’s unique way of examining both its flaws and beauty has for a long time made them a refuge for those who felt that the trappings of tradition, and the mainstream, were exactly that – a trap. Placebo continue to shine a light on the aspects of our society that are all too often viewed by some with scepticism at best, and hatred at worst.

It is with some poignancy then that new single Beautiful James arrives, finding itself born into a world that is as divided as it has ever been. Against the backdrop of splintering global relations, unchallenged online abuse and widespread fear among the narrow-minded of what they cannot understand, Beautiful James brings with it a message of defiance that seeks to normalize and celebrate non-heteronormative relationships in song.

Brian Molko comments further about the release of Beautiful James:

“If the song serves to irritate the squares and the uptight, so gleefully be it. But it remains imperative for me that each listener discovers their own personal story within it – I really don’t want to tell you how to feel.”

Created through the glaze of insomnia, the band turned their creative process on its head in order to bring Beautiful James to life. It meant approaching their work together in a new way, which began first with photographic imagery and a song title that evoked a certain feeling – long before any music was written. The resulting song is as powerful as it is tender – a resolutely defiant and ultimately necessary piece of art.

Beautiful James is not a polemic, or even a conversation. It is a statement – one that is as clear and bold as they have ever made.

Fast forward to 2021, the band have finished their 8th studio album and now have new music on the horizon.

Johnny Hunter soars high with vivid new single ‘Life’

Johnny Hunter

soars high with vivid new single

‘Life’

Today, the new single from Johnny Hunter arrives: striking, evocative and executed with a vibrancy that can instantly captivate. Simply titled ‘Life’, the latest track from the Sydney group freely dives into a multi-layered soundscape that reflects the intricacies and unpredictability of the subject itself.

Built on a foundation of strong guitars, rhythms and synth work that provide moments of euphoria amongst the brooding, ‘Life’ is a touchstone release for Johnny Hunter. Here, the band offers up a moment of catharsis – an avenue to find a renewed passion for life when we’re at our lowest.

As the band’s second release through Cooking Vinyl Australia, ‘Life’ is another stride forward for Johnny Hunter as they head into a new creative cycle of releases.

The release of ‘Life’ follows on from ‘The Floor’ – the darkly addictive single Johnny Hunter released in July. To view both songs side by side, the listener can hear the shift in mood and tone on ‘Life’. Both exist within the same meticulously crafted world, yet ‘Life’ is the companion release that chooses to look onward and upward to a brighter horizon.

As with ‘The Floor’, Johnny Hunter worked on this single with engineer Adam Greenspan (IDLES, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), and Jack Moffitt (The Preatures) at Parliament Studios in Sydney.

Sonically, ‘Life’ moves between shades of IDLES, Fontaines D.C. and Parquet Courts. Vocalist Nick Hutt sings each lyric with an impassioned sense of yearning, the lyrics soaring against a beautiful synthesis of post-punk and airy synth-pop sounds.

“To find life is to find happiness, it is the ultimate end and purpose of our existence.

Life is not found in the darkness of the night, nor is it found in selfish ideals. It lies in the balance of the new day and how we approach our imperfections to bring balance to ourselves. The answer to The Floor, an ultimatum proposed to the self, to change or die, to sink or swim.

The sun is shining, it’s time for change, appreciate what you have, know who you are and lose yourself in Life. Inspired by the moral dilemma I faced pulling beers for alcoholics to sustain a week to week pay cheque that was almost always whimsically spent on alcohol for myself. These people were dying right in front of my eyes (some did die) and I was joining them.”

KWAME RETURNS WITH ‘H I G H E R’ MARKING A NEW ERA IN HIS ARTISTIC JOURNEY

KWAME

RETURNS WITH ‘H I G H E R’ MARKING A NEW ERA
IN HIS ARTISTIC JOURNEY

Known to many as one of Australia’s breakout talents in recent years, Sydney based artist Kwame has continued to impress time and time again, with his thoughtful, forward thinking take on modern hip hop.

With a multitude of accolades under his belt, including a j award for Unearthed artist of 2018 and FBi Smac Award for Best Song, Kwame has built on an ever-growing wealth of industry fanfare with support from the likes of Zane Lowe, and A$AP Ferg, who first thrust the young musician into the literal spotlight.

Now Kwame returns with ‘H I G H E R’ – his first solo release of the year, whilst promising an abundance of new music to follow throughout the remainder of 2021. From the outset, it is clear that ‘H I G H E R’ stands apart from Kwame’s impressive repertoire, not just sonically, but as the title so aptly suggests, as a higher form and more considered take on his artistry to date.

The refined self-produced soundscape is a gleaming interpretation of neo-soul,  hip hop, and electronica. Whilst layered with psychedelic elements that are designed to imitate the roller coaster of emotions and euphoria when one embarks on a new intimate relationship. It is through this that Kwame, with openness, describes the addictive and drug-like feel of intimacy that he encounters, alongside stimulating elation, gratification and wholeness.

Speaking on the ideation of the record, Kwame further shares “‘H I G H E R’ is a song that speaks on the euphoric nature of intimacy one in embarks on with their significant other, this was actually one of the first songs where after producing the instrumental, I just grabbed the mic and punched in the verses and chorus after every 8 bars or so. This was new and fun to me as I’m more used to sitting down and taking the time to write, whereas, this process here allowed me to just say whatever was on my mind at the time.”

Accompanying the release is a bold new music video featuring a stunningly suited up and inebriated Kwame. The clip opens with Kwame stumbling through the front door, putting on some beats, and getting in the zone as he sings about the excitement of a new love. The energy and euphoric dancing perfectly encapsulate the feeling following the perfect date that leaves you totally in awe of what might come.

Directed by Kwame and Zain Ayub, the duo have created a three-part series in which a wider story is told over a single night out, sharing “the concept of the video draws inspiration from the iconic dance scene in Risky Business featuring Tom Cruise. The film encapsulates my evolution as an artist by showcasing the growth and maturity in both the sonic qualities of my music as well as the visual aesthetic. We felt as though the choice of considered steady cam and widescreen would help captivate the audience, bringing them into the universe we created.”

The Kiwi born, Ghanian artist exploded onto the scene with an energy like no other, and has gone on to amass an incredible 23 million+ streams across his catalogue to date. Quickly earning the praise of triple j /  Unearthed, after uploading the equally powerful and anthemic single ‘WOW’, the independently released single went on to garner over 6 million streams alone, whilst more recently being synced for a global Apple commercial.

Following it up with the acclaimed 2018 EP Endless Conversations., and 2020’s Please, Get Home SafeKwame’s name has become a staple with tastemaker support across Rolling Stone Australia, Red Bull, Acclaim, Music Feeds, NME, Junkee, Sniffers, Life Without Andy, Pilerats, Stoney Roads, and Purple Sneakers, amongst many others.

Marking a period of new beginnings, and a plethora of new music to follow, Kwame has set the tone for what is to be a significant year ahead.

Kwame’s new single ‘H I G H E R’ is out now on all streaming platforms.

DELAIRE THE LIAR

REVEAL NEW SINGLE ‘FURNACE’ AND ACCOMPANYING MUSIC VIDEO

London based alternative band DELAIRE THE LIAR have released new single and video ‘FURNACE’ via their new home at RUDE RECORDS.

The band spoke on the new song ‘FURNACE’:

“’FURNACE‘ is a tragedy. Some ditches are too deep to dig out of, some punishment too painful to forget. It infuriates, to see the ones you care about refuse the kindness and attention they afford to others. Harder still when they turn that mirror back on you. That lack of compassion for your own body can turn to neglect and that negligence can bury you.”

Music, at its best, opens the door to an honesty that borders on disconcerting. For London four-piece Delaire The Liar, expressing a central truth is at the very core of all they create.

Utilising a weaponised punk rock attitude that feeds into a visceral delivery and live performance, married with a fragility and earnestness that extends a welcoming hand to the listener, Delaire The Liar are set to explore the nuances of human emotion and response.

Unafraid to be vulnerable, unafraid to be hysterical and open to all.

FANGZ REVEAL SEARING SKATE-PUNK ANTHEM ‘I DON’T LIKE ME’

FANGZ

REVEAL SEARING SKATE-PUNK ANTHEM

I DON’T LIKE ME

After releasing their compelling track ‘Prove Me Wrong’, Sydney-based punk quartet FANGZ have today returned with their emotively-charged new single ‘I Don’t Like Me’ – produced by Stevie Knight (Yours TrulyStand AtlanticThe Dead Love), and mixed by James Paul Wisner (UnderoathParamoreAS IT IS).

‘I Don’t Like Me’ is a tip of the hat to 90’s skate punk-rock. Opening with an arpeggiated guitar riff and a hook-laden melody, the track swiftly picks up pace as monstrous drums and thudding bass combine. The arrangement deftly modulates back and forth, before building into a roaring crescendo at the bridge, closing out with its infectious chorus.

Front man Joshua Cottreau talks about the meaning behind ‘I Don’t Like Me’:

“‘I Don’t Like Me’ is about the version of ourselves we publicly present in order to hide our true experience and what we’re really going through. It touches on our personal issues as well as the passing of close friends that lost their own battles with depression. This song is for anyone that is not ok and feels isolated. Just know you are not alone and you are loved.”

Although battling against an unforgiving global pandemic, FANGZ have maintained their resilience and continued on throughout 2021 with great strides. They sold out all shows on their ‘Self Medicate’ tour, making appearances across NSW, ACT, VIC and QLD. In the live arena, the band have also supported the likes of Comeback Kid (CAN), Cancer Bats (CAN), GyroscopeTotally Unicorn and Bare Bones.

Their two recent singles ‘Self Medicate’ and ‘Prove Me Wrong’ were extensively supported by the likes of Australian and New Zealand radio stations triple jtriple j UnearthedTriple MThe Faction4ZZZSYN FM2SERPBS FMRadio AdelaideEdge RadioThree D RadioPhoenix FMKICK (NZ) and Radio Crescendo (NZ).

The tracks also received praise from tastemakers NMEHopeless RecordsManiacsMusic FeedsHEAVY MagThe GuardianHysteria MagWall of Sound and Juice TV (NZ).

In the coming weeks FANGZ will reveal an accompanying music video for ‘I Don’t Like Me’.

ELI GREENEYES SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO ‘SHE DON’T CARE’

ELI GREENEYES

ELI GREENEYES

SHARES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO

‘SHE DON’T CARE’

Eli Greeneyes is exactly the kind of artist we need in 2021 – eccentric, exciting, guitar-driven pop reminiscent of classics Oasis and Something For Kate but also modern pop rulers Yungblud and even Billie Eilish – he has announced his electric new single and video She Don’t Care.

The WA-based musician will be performing a one off, hometown headline show at Indian Ocean Hotel on September 2. And off the back of his collaboration with Perth hip hop royalty DRAPHT on his new album Shadows and Shinings (also released today), Eli Greeneyes will be joining DRAPHT on the road for his extensive 13 WA-date album tour in September, October and November this year.

She Don’t Care features so much of what we already know we love about Eli Greeneyes, but with plenty of innovation to spark a thrill upon every new listen.  It’s guitar-driven, powerful pop, with a carefully written topline, impassioned lyrics, and an absolutely killer mix.  It’s like a track from the early 2000s, written for a 2021 audience.

Speaking on the inspiration behind She Don’t Care, Eli Greeneyes says, She Don’t Care is about someone from my past who came along at a time when I was having a lot of mental health issues.  Their intentions were extremely different to mine and I was listening to them too much instead of trusting my own intentions and instincts!  I lost myself.  When I wrote it I thought it was their fault, but now I realise that I also played a part in letting it take that direction.  I had to write this song to gain back my true ‘not taking shit’ self.”

The video for She Don’t Care is overflowing with attitude, and it’s the perfect visual representation of the frustration and angst behind the song itself.  Eli Greeneyes sings directly to the camera, walking towards us while a woman points and yells right up in his face.  The confrontation is real, but the resolve that Greeneyes has developed through the catharsis of this song is real too.

Speaking simply, he reflects on the idea behind the video clip, and the team who made it happen, “The concept was created by my friends James Mooney, Ben Matei and I.  We wanted it to be predominantly a performance based video with an underlying simple narrative of self destruction and attracting the wrong people in your life… Everyone involved with the clip is creative in their own light with something to say and achieve.  They are all my best friends who I want to take on this journey.”

Produced alongside Mark McEwan (Karnivool, Drapht), She Don’t Care is a brilliant example of an artist who is totally in control of the process, and completely enamoured by the idea of creating new songs and new sounds.  Not only is Eli Greeneyes producing killer tracks for himself, but he’s also collaborating with other artists, including DRAPHT, and sharing his high production skills with his wider community.

Speaking of community, Eli Greeneyes is pumped to get back on the stage and perform for his fans, as he reflects, “My shows are an opportunity to meet and understand my fans with what they connect with the most about my music.  What am I saying that makes them feel heard and understood?  That all comes down to singing the lyrics for me.  Expressing them in that up close and personal way so the story hits straight to the heart.”

She Don’t Care is out now.

Tickets to the Indian Ocean Hotel show are on sale now.
