A SWIFT FAREWELL

UNVEIL EXPLOSIVE NEW

SINGLE ‘MOUSETRAP’

OUT TODAY

Sydney-based pop-punk quintet A Swift Farewell have returned with a new line up and a blistering new single ‘Mousetrap’ – produced and mixed by Mark Williamson (Inertia, Far Away Stables, Closure).

‘‘Mousetrap’ kicks off with muted guitar and the congruent vocals of Emma Mather, before gritty bass and bolstering drums propel the song into its virulent chorus. Intricate dynamics and cunning instrumentation spotlight the group’s chemistry, while delicate synths add diversity throughout the arrangement. Amidst the band’s animated signature sound, the lyrics explore the song’s profound underlying message.

Accompanying the release is the effervescent music video. Filmed, directed and edited by Robbie Walcott, the clip shows the band members finding themselves at the mercy of evil scientists. They are anesthetised and cloned before a childish mistake allows hilarity and farce to ensue. Featuring ambiguous filming techniques and a convoluted plot, the video accurately encapsulates the band’s quirky personality.

Bassist Sarah Bonnet talks about the meaning behind ‘Mousetrap’

“’Mousetrap’ is about feeling trapped in a relationship in which you are not able to give some-one the time and attention they demand from you and feeling burnt out from trying. In the end, the person doesn’t notice they are asking too much from you and you feel yourself grow emotionally distant from them.”
